Chapter 130 Arranging a Blind Date for You
Chapter 130: Chapter 130 Arranging a Blind Date for You
A sudden burst of heat surged through his body, Lucas Shaw cursed under his breath and immediately let go of Serena Summers.
He reached out to remove Serena’s gloves, bent down to pick up the dirty clothes, and threw them into the trash bin.
"These clothes are dirty, I’ll have Sister Green take care of them tomorrow." Lucas gently rubbed Serena’s hair, a mild curve resting at the corners of his mouth.
Serena nodded with satisfaction, "I’ll buy you new ones in a few days!"
"You’ll buy them for me?" Lucas raised his eyebrows, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes.
"I have money! What is that look? Don’t you believe me?" Serena pouted, dissatisfied.
Lucas let out a laugh, "I believe. Then I’ll wait for Serena to buy clothes for me."
"I’ll buy you something even better than this one!" Serena chuckled and pointed at the clothes thrown into the trash can, her pale face full of pride.
Lucas smiled indulgently and leaned down to kiss her delicately fair cheek, "Okay. Wait for me, I’m going to take a shower first."
Entering the bathroom, Lucas immediately turned on the cold water.
The cold water slowly fell, wetting his body, and the heat inside him gradually dissipated somewhat.
Lucas leaned against the wall and couldn’t help but give a wry smile.
He didn’t know when these days would end; he was almost at his limit.
The taste of being able to see but not eat was simply too tormenting.
His soft, delicate little wife was in his arms, tender and lovely, yet he was unable to unleash the beast inside his heart.
After a long time, Lucas slowly exhaled a breath, randomly wiped himself with a towel, and walked out.
Serena was nestled on the sofa, playing a game.
Her gaze was focused and serious, her eyes dropping down, unblinkingly watching the mobile screen.
Hearing the sound of the bathroom door opening, Serena slowly lifted her eyes.
"Hubby!"
"Come here." Lucas’s eyes deepened slightly, and he gestured to Serena.
Serena immediately put down her phone and ran over.
Lucas opened his arms, tightly embracing the little girl who ran towards him.
"What did you do today? Why didn’t you take the driver?" Lucas asked in a low voice.
Serena’s eyes flickered slightly, vaguely replied, "I was just wandering around, didn’t really go anywhere."
Lucas nodded lightly, not asking further.
"Hubby, can I ask you a question?"
"What question?"
"If I can’t stay with you for a lifetime, would you be sad?"
Lucas was stunned, "Why suddenly say something so sentimental? You’re my wife, where else would you go if not stay with me for a lifetime?"
Meeting Lucas’s eyes full of love, Serena’s nose suddenly felt sore.
"I’m talking about ’if.’"
"There’s no such hypothesis. I’ll only have you as my woman in this life. Wherever you go, I’ll follow."
A warm current slowly swept through Serena’s heart.
She wrapped her arms around Lucas’s neck and kissed his lips.
"Your words are enough for me."
She hadn’t chosen wrong.
Her choice couldn’t be a mistake.
The girl’s lips were soft, delicate, and carried a slight coolness.
Lucas felt his originally rigid heart instantly turned into a pool of water.
He began to deepen the kiss, slowly increasing the strength.
The girl’s lips were incredibly soft, carrying an indescribable sweetness.
Lucas slowly closed his eyes, indulging in the sensation.
In a trance, he heard Serena whisper, "Hubby, if one day you can’t find me, will you be sad?"
"What silly things are you saying? You’re not allowed to go anywhere! You must stay in my arms for this lifetime."
Serena persisted, "Hubby, if one day I disappeared, please do not look for me."
"I hope that you always remember my best moments.
That would be enough.
It’s my greatest fortune that heaven allowed us to meet.
I have been so happy during these two months with you."
Serena Summers looked intently at the face so close to hers, as if wanting to etch his features deep into her mind.
Lucas Shaw laughed lightly, helplessly, thinking Serena was just speaking off the cuff without really taking it to heart.
But at that moment, he still didn’t know what those words truly meant.
The next afternoon, Liam Shaw returned home, something he rarely did.
The lab had recently taken on a new medical research project, and everyone was busy nonstop.
Liam’s return mainly concerned Lucas Shaw’s illness.
A sample that could serve as one of the antidotes had been developed, but the few necessary medicinal herbs had made no progress.
Recently, he had approached Edward Selwyn at Horizon Group, but Edward refused to meet him.
Because of this, Liam was frazzled every day.
"Serena, is there really no other way?" Anxiety filled Liam’s eyes.
Serena slowly shook her head.
Liam dropped his gaze in disappointment.
"There’s no need to rush. We’ve managed for twenty-four years; a bit longer won’t hurt."
Lucas Shaw, the person in question, remained exceptionally calm.
Liam sighed helplessly, his eyes filled with despondency.
"That’s all we can do then. I’ll beg President Selwyn again tomorrow."
Serena lowered her lashes, a trace of bitterness flashing in her eyes.
"Right, tomorrow night is Old Master Lawrence’s eightieth birthday. You should take Serena along," Liam instructed softly.
Lucas nodded.
Old Master Lawrence and Master Shaw were old friends.
Now that Master Shaw was abroad, as the younger generation, they naturally had to attend.
"Serena, you are the Shaw Family’s granddaughter-in-law. If anyone bullies you, you must tell us right away."
Liam Shaw said with concern.
Serena laughed lightly and nodded, "Don’t worry, Big Brother, I will."
"My wife, I will protect her. You don’t need to worry," Lucas Shaw said coldly.
Liam was momentarily stunned, then chuckled, shaking his head helplessly.
He joked, "Whose jar of vinegar has spilled? Just expressing concern for my sister-in-law provokes such jealousy."
"I care about my wife myself. Is it your turn? With you being this idle, you better find a woman soon, or you might end up unwanted."
Liam Shaw: "..."
Who will come and kill this brat?
Too smug!
If those outside knew that Lucas Shaw acted like this at home, they would be utterly shocked.
Yet Serena nodded very seriously.
"My husband is right, Big Brother. You really should find a girlfriend soon; you’re almost thirty! Any longer and you might end up unwanted!"
Watching the two of them sing the same tune, Liam Shaw felt his heart taking a brutal hit.
"Enough already, I kindly show my concern and you repay kindness with ingratitude!"
Lucas Shaw: "That’s not what we said, it’s Grandfather who mentioned he’d arrange a matchmaking session for you when he returns."
"What?"
Liam stood up abruptly from his chair, his eyes filled with shock.
"How can this be possible? Grandfather has never interfered with these matters before, why so suddenly?"
Lucas Shaw scoffed coldly, bluntly reminding him, "Isn’t it because he’s worried that woman won’t be able to gain any advantage from me and is setting her sights on you?"
