Chapter 26: Timetable.
Chapter 26: Timetable.
The room was completely silent as they let the tension dissipate little by little, when Bethany’s phone rang, slicing through it like a knife.
"Hey , Mom. What’s up?" She asked, leaving the table and going to sit on a sofa in the living room.
"Oh! She asked me what’s up, Ray." Jen teased from the other side, talking to Raymond.
"She’s a big girl now. Let her." Ray said.
"Dad, I’m not an adult. I’m still your baby."
"Oh no, love. You belong to three men now. Not me, not anymore." Ray reasoned, she could hear him chew something crunchy.
"Oh okay then. Why did you call if I’m not yours any longer?" She retorted smiling, knowing she had him cornered now.
"Uhhh.. let’s just say, we decided to check in on what used to be ours." Ray chimed.
"Oh honey, please speak for yourself. She still belongs to me. Now, tomorrow, forever." Jen deadpanned.
"Awwnn, Mom. That’s so sweet." Beth cooed.
"Oh no, honey. I’m not trying to be sweet. I’m just stating facts. Facts your father knows and is still trying to deny." Beth could imagine her rolling her eyes at her father.
"Oh please, I’m not trying to deny anything." Raymond defended weakly. "Anyway, that aside. Are you gonna tell us whether you’ve left the city or you still admiring that massive kitchen, which is really gorgeous by the way." He chipped.
"Well. I made a platter in it." She said proudly.
"Oh, really. Okay. I do hope they loved it, though."
"Yes, daddy. They did."
"So you’re coming in soon then, right? Your mother misses you. She’s been kinda restless."
"That’s a lie, honey. Take all the time you want." Jen retorted.
"Don’t worry, Mom. I’d be back soon. I’d get you something, how about that?" Beth proposed, smiling softly.
"Alright. I’d be waiting." Jen said, her voice soft. She really did miss Beth.
"Okay, then. See you soon."
"Yes, love. Bye." And she was off.
Beth released a sigh, still holding her phone to her ear. She hadn’t realized how much she’d missed them until she heard their voices.
"I see you missed them." Tristan said, placing her unfinished meal on her lap.
"Thank you." She whispered, steadying it. "Yeah. I did. I just realized. But I’m going to see them soon, so yeah."
"Mm okay. Your Omelettes were perfect by the way. Quite addicting." He said, smiling a bit. "And how is it your pancakes didn’t get burnt?" He asked giving her a genuinely curious look.
"I was about to ask that same question!" Troy said from the kitchen. "It’s was just like those on TV. He added making her laugh.
"Now you guys are just exaggerating." She said chuckling.
"Actually we aren’t. " Theo said, his face void of amusement.
"Okay. You guys are serious." She said glancing at all three of them. "Alright. I used the pancake mix but I can teach you guys the measurements some other time, Okay?"
"Deal." Theo and Troy said, nodding.
"Speaking of next time, how are we going to be meeting?" Tristan asked.
"Hmm. That’s true. We could set dates, or times of the week. In discreet places of course. Probably here." Theo proposed almost immediately.
"Mmm, you’ve thought about this." Beth teased.
"Haha." Theo chuckled a bit nervously. "We all have actually."
"So I suppose a timetable is set then." She chimed, looking at all three of them, secretly impressed at how intentional they were being. It made her feel safe.
"Yes. It is." Troy said.
"Okay. Can I see it? Or hear it?"
"I’m texting it to you now. I’d pin it on the group chat as well." Tristan said, typing on his screen.
"Okay, thank you." She said, munching on the last bit of her meal. "So we’d be going back now, right?"
"You want to leave now?" Theo asked, a hint of sadness in his voice. She caught it, but didn’t react to it.
"Yeah. They might miss me but all of my chores are gonna wait, and I have some stuff to take care of." She said, leaving the couch to the kitchen to drop her plate.
"Okay then. We do too actually. You can leave your plates there, Beth, people are paid to clean them." Tristan said.
"I really don’t mind doing them, Tristan." Beth retorted.
"But then, you’d be putting them out of work. C’mon. You need to get dressed." He said, pulling her away and stopping at her door.
"We’d meet you in twenty minutes. Take your time." He whispered, kissing her forehead before heading to his room.
His little not-so-innocent tell to heay
Sighing, she stepped into her room, closing the door behind her.
She considered showering again, but thought against it. Unlocking her phone, she sat on the bench, opening the file that had the timetable.
Going through it, she could help but let out a very wide smile.
They had included her daily routine in it, from the time she woke up to train to all the the chores she had to do, still fixing themselves so easily in such a way she wasn’t going to get affected, at all.
And all the meeting locations seemed very discreet. Just what she wanted.
She wasn’t sure how long they could keep at it, but she was determined to relish it, however long it stayed.
Just as she was about to shut her screen, she received a text from Theo saying they were ready.
"Shit." She cursed, tossing the phone on the mattress and running to the closet, already scanning the wardrobes for something to put on.
She wasn’t sure of how ideal it was to repeat the one of yesterday, so she just had to get a new one.
Her eyes scanned quickly through the gowns, hoping to look somewhat normal but couldn’t settle on any. Sighing, she decided to settle for something else.
Settling for a really casual but cool outfit, she did her routine and make up, with the things provided of course, and in no time, she was ready to go.
Just as she was about to leave the closet, she remembered that she’d promised to get something for her Mom, so she did just that.
More than sure she was going to appreciate it better than she could.
"Look who’s dressed. You took a while." Troy teased, checking her out.
"I’m a lady, my dear. I take my time." She said, looking smug.
"Oh yeah, I’m sorry I forgot, ma’am."
"Asshole." Beth retorted, sticking out her tongue.
"That’s alright." Tristan said, cutting off their banter. "Are you ready to leave, ma’am?"
"Oh, yes I am." Beth said, with just a pinch of forced enthusiasm.
"Then, let’s move."
