Chapter 71

~Spring’s POV~

Storm’s eyes narrowed.

Tyrion sighed. "Please don’t start, Kael."

I rolled my eyes and let my head fall back against the cushion, finally letting myself laugh—really laugh.

Whatever happened next, one thing was clear: I wasn’t alone, and this time, I’d never let anyone take that from me again.

Then my phone buzzed. I checked it. It was a call from home.

It was Mum. I answered, passing a glance around. "Hello?"

My mates all seemed to catch the cue and fell silent, even though Jace and Kael mouthed words to each other and threw a can of water at each other.

"Hello. Spring, dear, when are you heading home for the celebration?"

I rolled my eyes at how she didn’t ask about how I was doing but cared about me showing up for Rose’s celebration.

Still, I get my smiles in and answer. "Soon, once I wrap up here."

"Alright. Your brother won’t be coming. The driver will pick you up instead."

"Okay. I understand."

The call ended and I lowered my phone. Exhaling sharply, I lifted my eyes, my smile broadening as I excused myself. "I need to change."

They got the message clearly. Storm nodded. "We’ll give you a moment."

Tyrion leaned in and kissed my cheek.

Kael came over and kissed my forehead.

Storm’s smile was low and wicked. As soon as Kael walked away, he moved closer to me as I stood up.

"I’d love to take you out on a date this weekend. Something real. Just the two of us."

I arched a brow. "Umm... we’ll see."

He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to my lips. "I’ll remind you."

And then they were gone, all except Jace.

He lingered by the door and then slowly walked back to me.

I wasn’t sure what to expect—maybe a joke, maybe a smirk. But there was something in his eyes I hadn’t seen before. A softness that didn’t belong to a flirt, the naughty devil himself.

He raised a hand and caressed my cheek. "I didn’t know when it started," he said softly. "But I think you’ve stolen my heart, mate."

I smirked. "You’re just being dramatic."

"I’m not." He leaned in, closer, his eyes never leaving mine. "I did not think it was much until I saw you kiss Storm earlier."

"Technically, he kissed me," I corrected him.

"You returned his kiss and fuck just watching you two... that was hot, sweet and also made me extremely jealous. You are his, you are theirs," he motioned for the door, "but do not forget, Spring, you are mine too."

I swallowed, unsure of what to do with this... this confession.

"Jace, I told you guys..."

"Doesn’t matter, mate," jace cut in, "because all I want to do since I saw you win that first challenge today was to kiss you but Storm beat me to it. I want to kiss you, Spring."

I parted my lips to stop him, to tease him maybe... but the words never came because I smiled.

And he took it as a yes.

Before I could utter another word, maybe to stop him, Jace’s lips met mine—warm, playful, but deeper than I expected.

His hand found my waist, and for a moment, we breathed in sync and kissed like the world outside didn’t exist.

I barely breathed as my mouth intertwined with his, his tongue sliding into my mouth to tangle with my tongue...

Suddenly, there was a certain rush inside me, almost like my body was heating up, my senses and my... all my mind could think of was him and wanting him.

Jade erupted in a squeal inside my head but I too shoved her to the back of my mind as I responded to his kiss until we slowed down.

And when we pulled apart, Jace didn’t say anything. He licked his lips, dove in for another quick kiss and then exhaled sharply. The best."

Leaving me breathless, smiling, and slightly wrecked but whole.

I bit down on my lower lip, my eyes still blinking as if all that had happened now and earlier were still a dream—my beautiful dream.

But when my phone rang again, signalling a call from my driver, I blinked, nodded and quickly pulled on my P.E. trousers’ vest and walked away.

~The Birthday Party~

The car ride home felt longer than usual. Maybe because my heart hadn’t really stopped racing since the games ended.

Or maybe because even with the windows rolled up, I could still feel the weight of Storm’s kiss on my lips... and Jace’s, not long after.

I wasn’t ready to face family drama. Not after today.

As we neared the estate, I leaned forward, tapping the driver’s shoulder lightly.

"Take the back driveway, please."

He nodded without asking questions and smoothly turned down the side path that wound behind the manor.

Once we stopped, I slipped out of the car with my shoes in hand, tiptoeing past the garden hedges and through the rear hallway entrance like a seasoned fugitive.

There were no maids in sight. Good.

I darted upstairs, bypassing the usual grand corridor where my mum and Rose were probably entertaining guests already. I didn’t want to hear the fake laughter, the forced ’happy birthday, Spring’ or see Rose’s perfect little smirk in a family photo again. Not yet.

I reached my room, locked the door behind me, and exhaled like I hadn’t breathed all day.

I took a moment to appreciate the silence that wrapped around me like a hug.

Dropping my bag on the chair, I made a beeline for the bathroom. I stripped off my vest and swimming suit slowly, wincing a little as I peeled back the fabric still clinging to my sore wrists and thighs from the Tower climb.

The hot water came on in a loud rush.

And for the first time in what felt like hours, I stood beneath it—still, eyes closed, letting it wash off the pressure of the day, the sweat, the blood, the exhaustion.

My body was aching. But I’d made it.

I was Vice President now. Not because someone handed it to me but because I earned it.
