Tang Yushi’s face twisted in fury as she dragged the girl aside and beat her even harder, with the sound of sharp lashes filling the air.

Seeing the vegetables she’d stomped into an unsellable mess, a twisted smile appeared on Tang Xin’s face, as if the pain from the blows on her body had lessened.

Unsure of how long the beating lasted, Tang Xin felt numb all over, barely feeling the pain anymore. Tang Yushi finally grew tired and, with a pained face, dropped the misshapen rattan cane she’d used to lash out and began collecting the trampled vegetables.

"You wretched girl, I really should have sold you off and spared our family from your daily calamities. Why don’t you just go die!"

As most of the vegetables were ruined and couldn’t be sold in the market, Tang Yushi stood up cursing and struck Tang Xin harshly across the face.

In an instant, Tang Xin’s cheeks swelled red and sore, her eyes fixed fiercely on Tang Yushi, chillingly bright.

At that moment, Tang Daya and Tang Erya returned from playing outside, laughing and talking.
