Chapter 335 - Chapter 335 Chapter 334 The Golden Rings Personal Visit
Chapter 335: Chapter 334: The Golden Ring’s Personal Visit Chapter 335: Chapter 334: The Golden Ring’s Personal Visit Darkness lingered in the depths of the earth, aimlessly wandering for an unfathomable amount of time.
Deep within the bowels of the earth, there was a vast underground space that housed a secret room entirely built from black cube stones.
The walls of the secret room were inscribed with intricate magic runes. In the center of the room, there was a square pool about two meters in length and width, with a depth of several tens of centimeters.
The pool was filled with most of a clear yet viscous liquid, in which a man with closed eyes was submerged, his body bare.
The chamber was very quiet, so quiet that after a moment, the magic runes carved into the walls lit up, and a humming sound could be heard. The fluid in the pool began to boil, the naked man within drifted, and thick white steam rose continuously, filling the space of the secret room.
After a while, the light from the illuminated runes receded, the humming sound faded, and the naked man suddenly opened his eyes and sat up from the pool. He looked around at his surroundings, furrowing his brow, and with a “splash,” he stepped out of the pool, striding towards the exit of the secret room.
Outside the portal of the secret room, a hand reached out, halting the naked man–a woman emerged, smiling radiantly, as she unabashedly surveyed the man top to bottom, and asked, “Suo Men, how does it feel, being reborn?”
Suo Men’s brow furrowed deeply, looking at the woman: “Mu Konni, what happened, did I perhaps…”
“Ha, what do you think, Suo Men? Of course, you died, and then you were resurrected from the Soul Comforting Pool,” Mu Konni replied as if it were as commonplace as eating when hungry or sleeping when tired.
Suo Men, upon hearing Mu Konni’s words, subconsciously touched his face, his eyes flickering slightly: “Then, this body of mine…”
“Stop touching, it’s not yours anymore,” Mu Konni interjected, “Your original body had its neck snapped beyond recovery. Luckily, we had a fresh corpse just delivered to the East Coast division, which was just the right fit for you.
This corpse was only thirty years old, much younger than your previous one. You got quite the bargain. Of course, your points weren’t enough; I contributed some, so don’t forget to repay me later.”
After hearing Mu Konni’s words, Suo Men stopped feeling his face, his eyes flickered, and after a moment, he looked at Mu Konni: “The last memory I have is from June 15th, according to that memory, our next step was to wreak some havoc on the White Stone Tower Academy with Plague Magic, and additionally, there was a witch from Rose City living in White Stone City that needed dealing with.
So, did I die because things went wrong with the White Stone Tower Academy, killed by the combined efforts of their wizards? Or was it that witch from Rose City who had an ace up her sleeve, and I was killed before I realized what happened?”
“Actually, neither,” Mu Konni shook her head, “You accomplished both tasks: everything went smoothly with your move against the White Stone Tower Academy; the woman from Rose City was stronger than expected, but after your upgrade, you easily dealt with her. Your death was somewhat of an accident.”
“An accident?”
“Yes, an accident,” Mu Konni nodded affirmatively.
“Tell me the details,” Suo Men said.
“I’m afraid it will take more than a moment to explain,” Mu Konni shrugged and tossed a ring to Suo Men, “You should get dressed first, then follow me to see Supervisor Ji Burlen. He will try to share my memories with you, and then you’ll understand everything.”
“Uh, alright,” Suo Men agreed, catching the ring and activating it, taking out clothes to put on, and then following Mu Konni into the distance.
…
“Tap, tap, tap…”
Suo Men stepped forward, following Mu Konni to an office in the subterranean space.
The office was spacious. In the center was a desk, behind which a man was busy, examining sheet after sheet of paperwork, occasionally scribbling notes. His eyes, filled with bloodshot veins due to lack of rest, and deeply sunken sockets gave him a somewhat frightening appearance.
As Suo Men and Mu Konni walked in, Mu Konni softly called out, “Supervisor Ji Burlen, Suo Men has awakened.”
“Ah, just a moment, I’ll be right with you,” Ji Burlen replied without looking up, continuing his work. After a solid half-hour, he finally let out a breath, stood up, and turned his bloodshot eyes towards Mu Konni and Suo Men.
“Suo Men, both you and Mu Konni were transferred from another region. I’ve reviewed your file. Including this incident, you’ve died twice in the past twelve months. Be more careful in the future,” Ji Burlen said.
“I…” Suo Men began to speak but was cut off after just a word.
“No need to rush into saying anything; let’s first restore your memories,” Ji Burlen suggested.
Suo Men simply responded, “Yes.”
Ji Burlen flipped his hand, and a crystal ball the size of an apple appeared in his palm. He stepped forward to Mu Konni and placed it on her forehead.
“Are you ready?” Ji Burlen asked.
“Ready,” Mu Konni said.
“That’s good,” Ji Burlen said, his lips silently moving a few times. Mu Konni’s body shuddered as if something was being drawn out from her brain. Her expression became slightly distorted, while the Crystal Ball burst into a myriad of dazzling lights.
After a while, Ji Burlen took the Crystal Ball away from Mu Konni and approached Suo Men, asking similarly, “Are you ready?”
“Ready,” Suo Men said.
“That’s good,” Ji Burlen said, placing the Crystal Ball at Suo Men’s forehead, his lips silently moving again.
Suo Men’s body shook violently, trembling as if electrocuted. It was visible to the naked eye how the radiance from the Crystal Ball rapidly burrowed into his brain.
Suo Men’s eyes darted frantically, his brain struggling to cope with the massive influx of information in such a short time. Blood streamed continuously from his eyes, nose, and mouth–the transfer of memories was evidently much more painful than absorption.
After a long time, Ji Burlen removed the Crystal Ball, and Suo Men collapsed to the ground with a thud, taking quite a while to recover and struggling to stand up.
Wiping the blood from his face, Suo Men frowned. Having inherited the complete memory from Mu Konni, he understood the cause of death and couldn’t help muttering to himself, “So that’s how it is… the books of the Black Spirit Empire… that kid…”
Ji Burlen spoke up from the side, “You understand everything that has happened now, right?”
“I understand,” Suo Men nodded.
“Understanding is good. Now we can discuss the matter at hand.”
“Yes,” Suo Men and Mu Konni responded solemnly.
“You two rest up here at the branch, then hurry back to the White Stone Tower, and accelerate the pace of your missions. Completely disrupt the Order of the White Stone Tower, try to create panic, and spread our intended message…” Ji Burlen spoke at length.
“Hmm?” Suo Men looked up after hearing Ji Burlen’s words, a hint of confusion in his voice, “Accelerate the pace of mission execution? Haven’t Mu Konni and I been fast enough already? Any faster, and there’s the risk of exposure…”
Ji Burlen spoke, “I know there is risk, but the situation has changed, and we have no choice but to act. Supervisor Long Mei’er from the major region has spoken to me; the East Coast plan must speed up because other areas are ready for even bigger moves, and we won’t be able to focus on both sides then. The plan for the East must be completed ahead of schedule.”
“But that will affect the effectiveness of the plan,” Suo Men frowned.
“It doesn’t matter; just reach a few key metrics.”
“Even so, it’s still difficult for just the two of us, Mu Konni and I, to further accelerate the pace of our tasks in the White Stone Tower. The people of the White Stone Tower are not simple; once we are truly exposed, it will be hard to come out on top. Moreover, we’ve discovered that aside from the White Stone Tower Wizard Association, there are other Wizard Organizations within the White Stone Tower, so…”
“You needn’t worry about these things,” Ji Burlen interrupted with a wave of his hand, “Do your best, and after a while, I will personally lead a team to assist you.”
“This!” Suo Men was shocked, looking at Ji Burlen, “Steward Ji Burlen, if you go to White Stone City, who will handle the affairs in the East Coast region?”
“Quite simple, Supervisor Long Mei’er will take care of it personally,” Ji Burlen said. “After all, it was his idea to accelerate the East Coast plan; naturally, he will take care of it.”
While speaking, Ji Burlen glanced towards a corner.
Suo Men, puzzled, followed his gaze and his eyes suddenly widened in shock.
He saw a person sitting in the corner dedicated to actual work, devoid of any presence, like a shadow. If not for Ji Burlen’s hint, he wouldn’t have noticed. The person looked up at him with an expressionless face, the Golden Ring on his hand shining with an unusual light.
The Golden Ring!
The Golden Ring had come in person!
This!
Amid his shock, Suo Men heard the “Golden Ring” in the corner speak, “Work well, eliminate everyone who stands in front of the Organization, hm, everyone. Once it’s done, the Organization will remember you, Suo Men.”
“Yes!”
