Chapter 334 - Chapter 334 Chapter 333 Mephistos Concerns

Chapter 334: Chapter 333 Mephisto’s Concerns Chapter 334: Chapter 333 Mephisto’s Concerns In the hall of the Six-Tusk Tower, Mephisto said, “This matter must be taken seriously! I know that many of us are currently focused on the East Coast Joint Exchange Conference, and that is inevitable. After all, it’s only every dozen years that we get to host the conference, and we must make it splendid.

However, while we have this in mind, there are those who seem unwilling to allow us to proceed as intended. The recent incident with the Plague Magic is an example–it was likely orchestrated by someone looking to disrupt the order of White Stone City.

The adverse effects of the Plague Magic incident are apparent, and I believe I need not remind you. Not only were there student casualties, but the incident was a disaster for the reputation of the White Stone Tower, striking a substantial blow to our standing.

Despite our precautions, we cannot guarantee that such an incident won’t happen again. For this reason, we must take the initiative to eliminate those who harbor malice towards our White Stone Tower invisibly.”

At this point, Mephisto paused, looking towards Macbeth and Armstrong, “Wizard Macbeth, Wizard Armstrong, both of you have had brief encounters with the enemy. Please, share the specifics of those encounters.”

“Okay.”

“Alright.”

In the seating area, called upon, Macbeth and Armstrong stood up.

Everyone looked at them, Macbeth’s expression was usual as he slowly said, “The enemy is very strong…”

Armstrong also spoke, “Indeed, the enemy is powerful, able to unleash the strength of a Second-level Wizard and master a variety of Second Circle Magic…”

After a while, Macbeth and Armstrong finished speaking. Mephisto gestured for them to sit and looked around at the silent, contemplative crowd.

Clearly, words like “very strong,” “Second-level Wizard,” and “variety of Second Circle Magic” had significantly impacted everyone, making them realize the seriousness of the situation.

Mephisto glanced over the crowd, raising her voice, “Well, it seems everyone now understands the situation. So… I now propose ‘utilizing the force of the Wizard Association to investigate and deal with these people.’ Please, let’s vote.”

The room went quiet, and after a long while, someone raised their hand, saying, “Agree.”

Once one person did, another followed.

“Agree.”

Then a third, a fourth, a fifth…

“Agree!”

“Agree!”

“Agree!”

Many people raised their hands.

“Very well,” Mephisto scanned the room, “Since everyone agrees, the proposal is passed. Next, I will use one-sixth of the Wizard Association’s power to carry out this task. When it comes down to implementation, I hope everyone will cooperate.”

“This!” Upon hearing Mephisto’s words, those who voted were stunned, as the amount of power Mephisto planned to use was excessively high.

One-sixth!

To them, the situation might be severe, but using one-twentieth or one-fifteenth of the power would be sufficient. Using one-tenth would be extreme, but Mephisto was using one-sixth, which was simply madness!

It must be understood that not every member of the White Stone Tower Wizard Association is idle–many perform extremely important, non-transferable tasks and some maintain the operations of the Wizard Association. Furthermore, the White Stone Tower Academy demands a portion of the wizards, meaning that the number of wizards that can be relocated isn’t as high as one might imagine.

In a nutshell, even the landlord’s household does not have surplus grains.

Just by declaring it, Mephisto prepared to deploy one-sixth of the force, and calling it one-sixth, it could reach up to a quarter or even a third when factoring in the immovable forces.

Adding to this, many people were also busy with the East Coast Joint Exchange Conference, which would definitely necessitate relocating individuals from less critical positions or having one person perform multiple roles, effectively affecting the entire White Stone Tower.

This was somewhat excessive!

A brown-haired wizard holding this view stood up, looking directly at Mephisto without much fear and spoke seriously, “Wizard Mephisto, I don’t oppose your proposal, but I think using one-sixth of the power is too impulsive. It would be more reasonable to change it to one-tenth or one-fifteenth.”

“Huh,” Mephisto scoffed coldly, “Wizard Steven, according to your idea, wouldn’t using one-twentieth be even better?”

“This…” The brown-haired wizard named Steven said, “I indeed do not object.”

“Then do you know why you are sitting in the seats across from me while I am seated on this stone platform?” Mephisto spoke up.

“Ah?”

“I’ll tell you the answer. It’s because your idea is wrong, while mine is correct; it’s because you are foolish, and I am intelligent!” Mephisto exclaimed loudly, “Do you really think that using one-twentieth of our power, being more conservative, is the best method?”

“Then, when we fail, first add one-tenth of our power, then add another eighth, letting the enemy kill all of our Wizard Association members bit by bit, do you still think it’s the best plan?”

“I’ve said it before; this enemy is not simple. Therefore, we must go all out. Otherwise, we’ll be at a disadvantage! Using one-twentieth or one-fifteenth of the power might take care of a Second-level Wizard, but what if there are multiple, or more powerful foes?”

“I’m telling you, I will always insist on proposing the use of one-sixth of the power. I will take responsibility if there are problems. You can oppose, you can ask me to reduce the power we use, but if something goes wrong, you are responsible. Wizard Steven, do you dare!”

“I…” Wizard Steven, faced with the aggressive Mephisto, hesitated, unable to say a word, and slowly sat back down in silence.

Mephisto scanned the entire room and asked loudly to everyone, “Does anyone else oppose this matter? Does anyone else have objections to using one-sixth of the power? If so, stand up!”

Not a single person stood up.

“Good, then it’s decided; this meeting is adjourned!”

“Snap!”

Mephisto tapped her finger on the table, producing a sound akin to a gavel.

All the wizards stood up and began to make their way out of the hall, among them were murmurs of dissatisfaction.

“Really…since it’s a Wizard Association meeting, is such a tough stance necessary?”

“Yes, it’s not like we disagreed. Couldn’t we at least have a nice talk…”

“I think, obviously, it’s a matter of personality. Look at her sister…”

The crowd quickly left, with Macbeth walking at the rear. As he reached the door, he turned to look at Mephisto and spoke up, “Um…Wizard Mephisto, I support you. I think, in this Wizard Association meeting, what you did was right; using one-sixth of the power is completely reasonable. Regarding the people disrupting the order in White Stone City, Armstrong and I have been aware and on alert, feeling that something big might happen. This time encountering the enemy, and fighting them, although nearly dying, wasn’t too bad; at least your motion passed, surely this will resolve all those disrupting the order in White Stone City…”

“Stop!”

Mephisto stepped down from the stone platform, interrupting Macbeth.

Macbeth was startled, “Ah? What…”

“Leave!” Mephisto said seriously to Macbeth.

Macbeth: “…” Turned around, not saying a word, and dejectedly left.

Mephisto withdrew her gaze and silently walked towards the window of the hall, expressionless as she looked out. At this moment, her heart was more vigilant and anxious than it seemed. As for why, she couldn’t say. Perhaps, it was just a premonition.

In the distance, the setting sun kissed the mountains, sinking with its glow.

Around, darkness surged like tidal water, and night fell once again.
