Chapter 36 - 36: Survival Test

Noah woke up, early than normally, he had to prepare for the incoming event, there is some coins to be earned after all. Also he had to spend the gold coins he earned.

''System! Show me the store.'' He ordered and the store appeared before him, he immediately went for the skills because what he was aiming for was here.

Previously, while browsing the skill's window his eyes lingered on a certain skill but he couldn't afford to buy due its enormous price but now he acquired a discount coupon, it would be a waste not to use it.

Finally Noah stopped scrolling upon reaching a certain skill.

''Purchase!" He ordered after ripping the special gold coupon, his gold coins vanished in instant, leaving him poor again.

Immediately following the skill's purchase, a golden light entered Noah's head.

He groaned as a lot of information was poured into his brain, he saw many weapons being wielded by an illusionary Noah, Spear,Sword, Ax, Bow, Kukri, Lance, scimitar, scythe and so on.

Noah cursed while getting back on his feet. He summoned a scythe to do a test, at first it felt foreign but after a few swings, the scythe felt like as if he had been using it for a long time already. He was certain with time he could bring the scythe's essence out, just imagining being able to perfectly use every existing weapon put a smile on Noah's face.

Leaving aside the matter of efficiency for having this skill, Noah's second goal for buying this skill was simply because it could help him perfect his disguise, different weapons for different situations.

''Good morning class. I have promised you previously that today we will be doing practical combat class, unfortunately this changed.'' Elena threw a bomb.

''What?" Noah almost jumped on his feets. He couldn't believe what he just heard, he was beyond shocked but he managed to reign in his emotions. They must be a reason he believes so, therefore he must first listen before reacting.

And Noah wasn't the only one shocked by their practical combat class getting canceled.

Raising his hand and getting Elena's approval, Arthur asked.

''Teacher, may I know why this got canceled?"

Elena smiled but first took a seat and then started her explanation.

''Normally, we should have started the practical combat class but because you're too exceptional, it put pressure on the other students and awakened faster than scheduled. Now every student have awakened their class and it was decided to create a Survival Test for everyone. This is to test your limit and see your adaptability.''

At the same time the system's voice rang, as if she had been waiting for this.

[Ding! New mission: Survive the test with the most points.

Reward: 5000 Gold coins and a random item.]

Instead of jumping in joy, Noah was calm. Hr was not a fool, judging by how generous the system seemed it doesn't take a genius to guess this Survival test would not be simple.

The students looked curiously at each other and smiled, this would be fun they believed.

Elena smiled upon seeing this.

''Let's go!"

She took her students towards the teleportation portal.

The survival training ground is called training, but it's more akin to thorough actual combat. It was being held on an island which belong to the academy.

Moreover, it's an extreme real combat training that utilizes the whole area, taking advantage of the island vast land.

First and foremost, the basis of this test is survival. Scores are given differentially according to survival time, so even if you survive without being eliminated until the last day, you can earn a fairly decent score.

Survive for 5 nights and 6 days.

It may sound very easy, but it is by no means simple.

First of all, except for the initial food supply (only last a day at best), all participants in this survival test must be self-sufficient. Furthermore, all sorts of equipment, including accessories, are not provided.

"I never thought they wouldn't even give us training weapons." Noah murmured and finally understand why the system was so generous.

In other words, one must endure 5 nights and 6 days with nothing but their bare body.

But that was not all.

This survival test includes "plundering."

Each student wore a smart bracelet with their identification number on their chest, and if this bracelet was stolen or lost, they would be eliminated from the test.

And additional points are given to the student who "plunders" this smart bracelet.

In other words, the students are enemies of each other.

Because of this, forming an alliance is impossible without substantial trust. To put it bluntly, you might be betrayed even after forming an alliance.

Why not just team up with close friends who have no possibility of betrayal?

Nope. That's not it.

This test is not so easygoing.

In this survival test, there are students assigned the role of "Criminals."

These criminals cannot earn points through survival or any other additional factors, but can only obtain points through "plundering."

And the points acquired are a whopping double!

So, the students assigned the role of these criminals must hunt others if they want to survive themselves. It's unavoidable.

Of course, the students who takes down a criminals also receives double the points.

This existence known as the criminals, creates suspicion and mistrust even among close friends.

Moreover, out of 400, a staggering 50 are criminals.

The odds are such that it's impossible to cooperate without reservation.
