Chapter 966: Chapter 885: Beware of Scams_2
All of the words above were ready excuses prepared by "Nothingness"; if Song Lan had asked any questions, he would have been able to explain everything logically.
However, two hours had passed since the shop closed, and Song Lan hadn’t asked a single word.
"Nothingness" was seething with anger.
Why didn’t he just ask, did he really need to sport a yellow exclamation mark the size of a house on his forehead?
Damn!
"Don’t you have anything you want to ask me?"
After adjusting his mood, "Nothingness" stared at Song Lan with an obvious exclamation mark appearing above his head.
His followers could never have imagined that he would use his supreme spiritual power for such a purpose.
The gigantic yellow exclamation mark finally caught Song Lan’s attention, and he looked up, locking eyes with "Nothingness" for a long moment.
Immediately after, the yellow exclamation mark turned into a green check mark, considerately marked with "completed" in parentheses.
This could kill me!
"Nothingness" roared internally.
Why could this kid always outperform him in the use of psychic abilities?
"1,000,000 watts."
Having lost the battle of psychic power, "Nothingness" shed his disguise, revealing his true face, "If you ask me ’why we need to go to the trading exchange,’ I’ll transfer you 1,000,000 watts."
"Why do we need to go to the trading exchange?"
Upon hearing this, Song Lan changed completely, pausing the movie, removing his headphones, stowing his phone back into his pocket, and his gaze sharpened, resembling a true detective.
"... Right, it seems you’ve noticed."
"Nothingness" took a deep breath, struggling to keep the conversation going.
The people at the trading exchange hadn’t lied to him; the Oasis was indeed rife with scam gangs with ever-changing tactics, and one could easily lose everything if not careful.
He had only ridden on a hover car and lost 1,000,000 watts to a scam.
"The reason the Rebel Army gathers here."
Although Song Lan hadn’t noticed anything, it didn’t prevent him from cooperating with "Nothingness." When the latter took a note and a photograph from the inside pocket of his clothes, Song Lan immediately adopted a grave expression.
"Beacon, which is the source of their psychic abilities."

Meanwhile, in the Capital City of Oasis.
Esinvig stood atop a high tower, which offered him a panoramic view of the entire city.
His senses had become sharper recently; he could nearly see every street in the city, accurately pinpointing familiar figures.
The locals of Oasis were open to their arrival, at least there had been no conflicts with local forces for the time being.
As for what the authorities thought, that was not their concern.
He focused his mind, completely engrossed.
Gradually, he saw more.
His vision could pierce through human bodies, seeing the flickering lights within.
These points of light were present in every person, bright or dim. He speculated that these were the sparks of spiritual power; as the lights appeared, faint whispers echoed in his ears, issuing a warning.
They must find the beacon before "they" do.
Esinvig didn’t know who "they" referred to, nor could he communicate further with the whispers, which to him sounded more like lingering echoes, repeating the same words over and over.
The whispers called out to them, much like when he had been imprisoned years ago.
Before gaining inspiration, he too had heard similar whispers.
Nebulous, like a dream, and now Esinvig realized this dream was not his alone; other leaders of the Rebel Army also heard the same whispers, drawn together by the call.
Yet even now, they had not unraveled the true meaning of the beacon, and the investigations of his subordinates had yielded only unreliable guesses; they had successively ruled out the signal towers of the Capital City, the post office, and courier companies.
All investigations turned out fruitless, and the "rat" who had made these speculations had been struck on the back of the head by an exasperated Aishi, who was currently recuperating.
Soon, Esinvig detected an even brighter light.
Compared to the pedestrians on the streets, this light shone dazzlingly, ascending the tower’s spiral staircase until reaching the top floor.
Then, he heard the sound of a door being opened, accompanied by breathless voices.
"Aishi."
He called out her name.
Aishi then stretched out her right hand, maintaining distance between them while her other hand clutched her waist, buying herself a minute to catch her breath.
Esinvig patiently waited, and before long, Aishi had eliminated another incorrect answer.
"I’ve had people check the airport too, and the beacon isn’t there."
The airport was the last "legacy" left by the "rat" before the heavy blow; because of his nonsense, Aishi had climbed to the top of the tower four times today.
She felt that either her Boss or the "rat" had issues, or maybe both of them were problematic.
Aishi had no idea what her Boss was doing at the top of the tower all this time. The broken elevator had long been out of repair in this decayed place, and she, not one known for physical fitness among the psychics, almost lost her life to today’s exercise.
Unfortunately, Esinvig was her direct superior; since she dared not knock him on the back of his head, she only vented on the "rat."
