Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Keep Distance, Or You’ll Be Unfortunate_1

Since "the Rat" was apprehended and imprisoned, the atmosphere of the suburban prison had undergone a noticeable change.

Those held captive here were a group of hopelessly recurrent offenders, and the prison officers employed rules different from those in an ordinary prison for management.

First and foremost were the living conditions. For the number of prisoners detained, the accommodation provided by the prison was extremely limited. Only less than one-third of the prisoners could enjoy a bed to sleep on at night, which was a reflection of their status within the prison. As for the prisoners with no status, they could only rest on the hard floor of the passageway.

Next was the food. It was distributed punctually every day. Though the amount was rationed according to the number of people, it was not distributed to every prisoner. If anyone took extra supplements, someone else would be "left hungry".

For the prisoners in the suburban prison, this was a vicious cycle. Without the nutritional supplements to maintain their strength, they would be weak in fights and would fall prey to other people’s plundering.

In this prison, stealing was commonplace.

The core philosophy of the management model was to maximize the internal consumption of the prisoners.

Over the past year, more than forty prisoners had died from brawls within the prison.

Several factions were formed inside the prison. New prisoners who did not join a faction would struggle to survive, but even if they did join, their lives would not be any easier. They had to pay for their daily necessities, food, or money to the "organization" in exchange for their protection.

Under these circumstances, the head honchos of the various factions wielded unparalleled power, and their prison lives were considerably freer than their previous lives outside.

Just one day after his imprisonment, "the Rat" had already assimilated two small factions of over a dozen members each, becoming a force that cannot be ignored in the suburban prison.

As a former head of one of the four biggest criminal organizations in District 17, he was well aware of the importance of unity within an organization.

His method of promoting unity was telling his followers how he managed to blow up the entire city meeting venue with just a few people’s power.

"My hacker uploaded a self-made virus, and within two minutes, we had paralyzed the entire network system of the venue."

"The Rat" sat on a chair, talking animatedly and passionately.

His room was filled with people, not only his followers but also criminals from other factions were there to witness "the Rat’s" deeds.

"Although the law enforcers onsite organized an effective counterattack promptly, they couldn’t slow our progress...Have you heard of the Barrosa Group? Their product, the ’Roaring C621 Heavy Machine Gun’, with just one of these, can prevent the law enforcers from showing their heads!"

The hardened criminals listened, their blood boiling.

Every one of them had taken numerous lives, but the act of holding a heavy machine gun, leading their gang to break into the City Meeting venue through the main entrance was something they dare not even dream of.

The action was equivalent to declaring war on the entire law enforcement of District 17!

Compared with what "the Rat" had done, smuggling, selling illegal drugs, and murder seemed insignificant.

"The law enforcers were under our firepower suppression and were forced to retreat over and over, and had no choice but to interrupt the meeting and evacuate the council members. We, on the other hand, placed the prepared explosives on the lower floor right in front of them."

"The Rat" spoke elaborately, lifting his thumb and gesturing the motion for the button, as he spoke, "After withdrawing to the safe zone, I just lightly pressed it, and the bomb directly blew the venue into the sky."

The followers clenched their fists. They felt indescribable strength from "the Rat’s" narration.

As criminals, no one understood better than them what the City Meeting venue represented.

It was a place chosen by the mayor of Lyon City after he took office to show his determination to crack down on crime, a place even the Chai Ke Group never dared to touch. However, their boss managed to break into the heavily guarded city center with just six people and blew up the historically significant venue right before the law enforcers’ eyes!

"The Rat’s" arrival gave them hope for the first time to leave the suburban prison.

If their boss could lead six people into the heart of the City Meeting venue, leading them out of this place probably wouldn’t be a challenge!

Suddenly, a disturbance from the doorway interrupted the excited atmosphere in the room.

Someone passing by the room shouted, "A new prisoner was just brought in".

A new prisoner?

The prisoners’ excitement heightened even more.

Welcome the new prisoner was one of the few entertainments in the suburban prison. They would hold a grand welcome ceremony for these "new friends". Some would privately set up gambling tables and bet on which new prisoners would be the first to get eliminated.

Criminals at "the Rat’s" level were rare. Most of the newcomers would start with small errands such as fetching water.

However, when the prisoners saw the new prisoner being brought in, the whole suburban prison was brought to a boil.

A woman!

No one expected the only new prisoner brought in today would be a woman.

Curvaceous figure, upper body dressed in a restraint suit that tightly bound the woman’s arms together. Shackles also chained her ankles together, allowing her only to move forward in small steps.

Rarely seen long white hair hung down to her waist. The only thing that dissatisfied the prisoners was that a leather hood veils the woman’s face, preventing them from seeing her features.

Many prisoners who had been locked in here for more than ten years had a green light in their eyes. Even "The Rat" was stunned for a moment.

He was an authentic expert in this field.

Just from the aura the woman emitted, he could determine that she was extraordinary.

Someone in the crowd had already taken action from excitement.

A hulky man, over two meters tall, wearing a vest with intimidating muscles all over his body, walked towards the woman from the crowd.

"The Rat" recognized this man.

He was the leader of one of the biggest factions in the suburban prison. He was a professional boxer in the underground ring of District 17 before his imprisonment. The man was a violentmaniac, and rumor had it that during his detention here, he had killed over a dozen men, making him one of the people "the Rat" can’t afford to provoke.

However, before the man could say anything, a cold voice emitting from beneath the leather hood spoke.

"Stay away from me."

"Stay away from you?"

The man laughed arrogantly. Usually, in this suburban prison, he was the one warning others. No one had ever dared to warn him.

But if the one on the other was a weak woman, it was a different story.

He said scrupulously, "Miss, it seems that you’re in a bit of a tight situation. How about it, would you like me to help you get rid of these annoying restraints?"

The man reached out to the restraint suit on the woman’s body.

The next moment, a pungent smell of scorched carbon filled the prison.

That mountain- like figure collapsed with a thud. What appeared in the prisoners’ line of sight was a body charred to the point of being a pile of ash.
