Chapter 827: Chapter 821: Laziness Crawls Up Your Spine_2
As for the other voice...
It was laziness!
It made him not want to do anything but rest.
Demonic whispers repeated incessantly by his ear, telling him that once he became a mentor, it would mean he’d have to get up early in the morning and even face situations where he’d have to record all night!
But no matter what, Valerian would definitely be sad about this result—before leaving, she firmly believed that "Master of Rescuers" had no insider dealings, and that every champion won by their own true abilities.
In his hesitation, Song Lan met Lu Xiang’s gaze.
"Just agree."
She didn’t make a sound but spoke with the shape of her mouth.
Lu Xiang’s stance immediately changed the deadlock in his mind as the voice of laziness was attacked from two sides.
"Mr. Song Lan, what do you think? Of course, if you’re truly unwilling, we won’t force you."
"...If I agree, when does filming start?"
"This afternoon, if nothing unexpected happens, something big is going to happen at Kolo Film Industry tonight."
She was, of course, referring to the issue worrying the founder.
Guan Lili was just an employee; she didn’t know about the past of Kolo Film Industry’s founder. However, they generally didn’t have a good impression of the methods employed by the founder over the years, and had taken to internally referring to him as the "old guy."
As age increased, the founder’s obsession with power grew, even to a fanatical extent. He always employed a strategy of checks and balances, suppressing those in the spotlight and transferring their resources to others, then labeling it as "beneficial for the company’s" development.
Guan Lili was a direct victim of these methods. In a sense, the director underwent a silent demotion; several important projects she had founded were now allocated to others by the company.
Thus, she had always adopted a stance of enjoying the show.
But this time, the old guy was truly panicking. She had never seen him so flustered before, to the point of desperate measures.
Perhaps, this indicated that the opposition knew exactly who intended to seek vengeance on him, and that those people really had the potential to literally tear him apart.
"We can arrange for you to go to the headquarters of Kolo Film Industry, where it will be convenient for you to get firsthand information."
"I understand."
When the phone call ended, Guan Lili let out a long breath of relief and couldn’t help but make a celebratory gesture.
In her view, Song Lan was much harder to handle than the national-level rescuers.
And now, the issue of safety during recording had been resolved, and Sean Grant had no grounds to raise any more objections.
...
On the other side, Lu Xiang had grabbed Song Lan’s arm, pulling him up from the bed.
Even though Song Lan looked extremely reluctant.
At any time and place, the bed held a massive attraction for this Dumb Bird. If left to his own devices, he would eventually become one with the blanket. Lu Xiang had observed that Song Lan could literally spend an entire day curled up in the blanket without getting out of bed.
What was even more outrageous was his reason: "It’s too cold."
Icek Flight.
And the temperature outside was 28 degrees Celsius, nearly summer.
The reason he felt cold was that he always set the bedroom air conditioner to 16 degrees, then would be so cold that he’d huddle under the blankets and not come out.
When you pay close attention to the living habits of Dumb Bird, you would find many bewildering human behaviors.
But now was obviously not the time to lie in bed.
"Come on, get out of bed. You are about to be on TV. I will do your makeup and then pick out clothes for you."
Although Song Lan would eventually appear in the guise of Rob Lucci, Lu Xiang didn’t want him to be criticized by the show’s audience over his personal appearance.
Moreover, fiddling with Song Lan back and forth was quite an interesting affair.
Not long after hanging up the phone, Guan Lili sent over some points to note.
After all, "Master of Rescuers" was one of the hottest reality shows of the United Government at the moment. Since they had decided to go on the show, there had to be certain demands.
First, there was personal image and characteristics.
Each mysterious guest, when joining the show, was given a few prominent tags to allow the audience to quickly understand the new mentor’s style.
Next up was the matter of vehicles.
Some say that for rescuers, vehicles are akin to a knight’s warhorse: their significance lies not only as a means of transportation but also as a symbol of status.
Rescuers of Sean Grant’s caliber had signed contracts worth hundreds of millions of watts with hovercar companies, with their regular rides being specially provided by the companies.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the "Master of Rescuers" production team had also fallen into a state of anxiety due to the news brought back by Guan Lili.
When they heard that the Chief Executor of Military Intelligence Section Seven’s highest operational department, CP0, would join the recording as a mysterious instructor, they all showed expressions of disbelief.
Sean Grant did not raise any objections either, as worrying about the contestants’ safety in the presence of the CP0 head would doubtlessly be disrespectful to his position.
They had all heard more or less about the recent events in The First Region, with rumors claiming that the one who quelled the coup was none other than Mr. Lucky, Rob Lucci himself. Unlike the performers known as Five Stars rescuers, he was a man who had fought side by side with the Six Stars rescuers.
They simply could not fathom why Guan Lili would know such a person, let alone persuade him to be the show’s mysterious instructor.
"Director Guan, what should we do now? Do we need to find someone to set up the scene last minute, hang banners to welcome his arrival?"
The person in charge of "Master of Rescuers" also felt intimidated by the name, and for a moment, Guan Lili became the mainstay for everyone present.
"No need, just gather the contestants together and introduce them to him when the time comes."
"And... what about his temper? Is he easy to get along with?"
The director asked cautiously.
Even though Sean Grant was known for his temper on the show, everyone knew that he was actually a very polite person in private. However, those coming from Military Intelligence Section Seven were different; as they understood, many of those in intelligence have rather peculiar personalities.
"As long as you don’t provoke him, there will be no problem."
The entire morning, the production crew spent in unease, with even Sean Grant pulling out the company-supplied information to start learning about the new colleague who was about to arrive.
The contestants seemed to sense the subtle atmosphere as well and were privately buzzing with speculation about the identity of the new instructor.
Those with sharp ears vaguely caught key terms like Military Intelligence Section Seven and CP0, leading them to guess that this season’s new instructor might be a senior agent from an intelligence department.
This made them look forward to the new instructor’s first appearance.
According to the show’s pattern, each new instructor is given a grand entrance by the production team when they debut.
Would the classic soundtrack of spy movies play at the shooting location in a little while?
Or would the production team arrange some cinematic scenes to reveal the mysterious instructor’s identity?
The person in charge and the director were also frazzled by this.
Guan Lili did not reveal much about Rob Lucci to them, so all their understanding had to be based on the company’s data and their personal conjecture.
They were also very curious about how spectacular the entrance of CP0’s Chief Executor would be.
"He’s here."
Guan Lili broke the anxious wait.
Upon receiving the news, the director immediately signaled to the filming team, and Sean Grant, playing the gracious host, headed towards the door.
The camera and everyone’s gaze turned to the sky.
Today was cloudless, a clear day.
They waited for the hovercar with the insignia of Military Intelligence Section Seven to appear in their sight. However, after a long wait, Mr. Rob Lucci had still not arrived.
Was he... stuck in traffic?
The crowd looked at Guan Lili with confusion, only to see her smiling and confidently stepping forward in her high heels toward the pedestrian crossing not far away.
By the roadside, someone on a bicycle had just parked by the curb.
Before this, no one had paid much attention to the bicycling man, as he looked just like a passerby happening to pass by.
When she reached Song Lan’s side, Guan Lili suddenly furrowed her brows.
She stared at his empty shoulder, making Song Lan feel somewhat uncomfortable.
"What’s wrong?"
Song Lan asked.
He was quite pleased with the outfit, personally selected by Lu Xiang, which suited the low-key image of a United Government agent perfectly.
Guan Lili cleared her throat and asked seriously, "Where is your bird?"
