Chapter 807: Chapter 805: Good Morning, Mr. Janitor
The next morning, Sean Grant set out into action.
Director Powell was not hard to find; a budget hotel was his base of operations, a location with cheap rent and where he always encountered some dream chasers new to District Four. These "novices" were the easiest to deceive.
When Sean found Powell, the bald middle-aged man was busy planning his next "big-budget" film, "destined to make history."
"Sean, Mr. Sean Grant!"
The unexpected visitor made him widen his eyes in disbelief, and driven by instinct, he blurted out, "My name is Powell, I’m a director and a screenwriter. I happen to have a role that would be perfect for you, I don’t know if you..."
"I know you."
Sean Grant interrupted him. "When your crew was filming in the hotel, there was a janitor in his early fifties who always came looking for you. Do you remember him?"
"That man? He is an old film enthusiast. He has seen all the early films of the Kolo Film Industry. He said he came to this city to work because of his love for films."
"Can you find him for me?"
"You want to find him? He has always worked around this area. He always shows up to watch whenever there is a film crew shooting nearby. Oh, I know of a crew that just started shooting on the adjacent Sunset Boulevard. You might find him there... Mr. Sean Grant, I am your admirer and have always wanted to seek an opportunity to collaborate with you..."
Powell’s voice abruptly stopped.
Because Sean Grant had already walked out of the room, not even leaving a goodbye.
The so-called "admirer" immediately changed his expression and glared angrily at the departing figure, muttering, "What’s so great about him? All the rescuers in this city are filthy!"
...
Sean Grant heard the grumbling from behind, and like avoiding trash, he quickened his pace.
He knew he would never interact much with someone like Powell, but he was well aware that in District Four’s Sunset Boulevard, there were plenty of people like Powell.
Deception had become a part of their lives, mindlessly passing the days, perhaps even they themselves had long forgotten why they came to this city.
He donned sunglasses and disguised himself to avoid causing a stir on the streets.
The filming crew was not hard to find, but what Sean Grant did not expect was that when he arrived at the scene, the entire crew had already stopped shooting, and two Law Enforcers were standing next to the director, discussing something.
A bit further away, was the isolation tape set up by the Law Enforcers, and the leading Law Enforcer was a familiar face.
Suddenly, Sean Grant felt as if he had mistakenly stepped into the world of "Doubtful Case Pursuit" where every time August Quinn found a new clue, some real-life emergencies would emerge to obstruct his efforts.
This was the principle of adversity in the script, a basic technique mastered by every director and screenwriter.
But now, his ominous premonition was very strong.
Just as he was seeking the janitor mentioned by Grella and encountered the active Law Enforcers, it was not a good sign.
The reality indeed confirmed Sean Grant’s premonition.
He finally found the janitor himself, but when he saw this man in his early fifties, he was sitting amid a pile of trash in an alley, almost submerged by garbage bags and the stench of decay, the reason why the body hadn’t been discovered immediately—the Law Enforcers speculated the time of death to be early the previous morning, and from the scene, it seemed the janitor had been attacked while handling the trash.
However...
The manner of the attack was extremely brutal, even more chilling than those scenes produced by movie special effects.
His chest was punctured, and one could directly see the scenery on the other side.
The only "good news" was that the janitor hadn’t suffered too much before dying.
The Law Enforcers did not know why Sean Grant was there, but they still answered all the questions posed by this national-level rescuer, many of them being loyal audience members of "Master of Rescuers," "This case is utterly bizarre; we’ve checked all the surveillance footage nearby, but none captured the victim entering the alley."
This discovery sent chills down the spine of these experienced Law Enforcers.
At this moment, it was the brightest time of the day, yet anxiety inevitably crawled into everyone’s hearts.
The plot worker’s death, the body appeared in the alley as if it had teleported there. Surveillance in nearby blocks captured no trace of his movements before his death.
They still didn’t know where the first crime scene of this murder was.
"The attacker could be a modified person with a high degree of prosthetic implantation, or a psychic."
But no one knew why such a high-level assassin would want to kill an obscure janitor.
Perhaps he had witnessed some unknown secrets during his work and brought this deadly misfortune upon himself?
Sean Grant’s concerns deepened, realizing that this case was much more dangerous than they had imagined. They were dealing with someone who could evade surveillance and place the body wherever he wanted.
More importantly, Grella was under surveillance by the opposition all the time.
The assassin knew about the janitor first and took the opportunity to strike hard before he arrived.
Thinking of this, Sean Grant suddenly felt a tightness in his heart.
Grella was still alone in his villa; if the assassin decided to show up now...
"I must leave now."
He left a hasty message with the law enforcers at the scene and quickly walked toward his hover car.

Meanwhile, on the other side, after a good night’s sleep, the three members of the District 4 visiting team raised their hands again.
Zhuang Chi, the most well-informed, brought the news that had everyone talking.
"Roger, chief, I just heard someone say that there was a murder on nearby Sunset Boulevard; the victim was a janitor, and the scene was said to be very bloody!"
Another murder case!
Since their arrival in District 4, two incidents had already occurred next to them, "Local law enforcers have already sealed off the scene. Should we go take a look?"
"No need."
Before Roger could speak, he was the first to say, "If we’re at every crime scene, even the local law enforcers would start to suspect us."
"But..."
"This isn’t District 17, we should trust the capabilities of our local colleagues. They will surely find the murderer eventually."
After saying this, Song Lan yawned.
"Alright."
Since the chief had spoken, as members of the department, they could only follow the superior’s orders.
However, being a person with considerable curiosity, Zhuang Chi’s doubts shifted toward Song Lan, "Chief, didn’t you go to bed early yesterday?"
She and Roger were discussing Grella’s fall from the building until late and tried to call Song Lan out to play cards. Song Lan didn’t respond, and they assumed the chief had already fallen asleep by that time.
Yet if that were so, why did he still look sleepy today?
"Yes, what about it?"
"Did you not rest well last night? Are you not used to the hotel?"
"No."
Song Lan shook his head, "I just had a nightmare."
