Chapter 784: Chapter 782: Puppet of Power_1
"His name is Zeruo, just an insignificant minor character,"
RT6 said coldly.
In this prison, it was never the puppet king of Atlantis who really posed a threat to the "Emperor," but rather the envoy of the Lord of Tides, who still remained hidden somewhere.
The moment she passed through the vortex and entered the prison, she had begun scanning, yet she had never been able to capture the envoy’s form.
As for Zeruo, she had already collected enough information through the historian Omelo.
"Why would the Lord of Tides care about a traitor who betrayed his own kin?"
"I understand,"
The "Emperor" nodded.
In an instant, Zeruo’s obese body sank forwards, his knees hitting the ground before he could even speak.
His legs were broken by the force of gravity, and a terrible scream echoed in the dark, cramped space for a long time.
Zeruo propped himself up with his hands but couldn’t even lift his head.
His eyes were bursting with rage; for the first time in a millennium, he found himself grovelling in humiliation before someone else.
Those aristocrats he had once served were now trapped in eternal torment, and it had taken him a thousand years to "revise" the memories of all Atlanteans, attempting to bury that period of history.
"Where is the envoy of the Lord of Tides now?"
The "Emperor" was not interested in a minor character, and indeed, it was proven that Zeruo, as the ruler of the Kingdom of Atlantis, was pathetically weak. In his presence, he couldn’t even manage to stand straight.
Zeruo remained silent, spewing a mouthful of black mucus from his mouth.
The mucus spattered on the ground, and suddenly his body twisted into one mass, his body and limbs dispersing like fireworks, but in contrast to the splendor of fireworks, the scene before the Paladin was so revolting it turned his stomach. He saw countless "mudfish" scurrying away, desperately trying to hide in corners.
And this was the king who had ruled Atlantis for a thousand years.
Beyond hate and anger, the Paladin felt a trace of pity for this man driven mad by power.
What had his betrayal of everyone, his worship to the Lord of Tides, ultimately brought him?
He had become a creature indescribable by words, not even able to maintain his human identity, and he was doomed to never escape the influence of gravity, which the "Emperor" had once mentioned in a casual conversation could cover half of a city if he tried hard enough.
So he watched with wide eyes as the "mudfish" scattered and dashed, watching them smack heavily on the ground and splatter into a mass of bloody mucus.
The formless Zeruo seemed to finally realize his situation, and some "mudfish" let out a piercing roar, "Stop, you can’t do this to me, I am the king of Atlantis! You vermin!"
The cursing didn’t last long, as those roaring were quickly smashed onto the ground.
The Paladin felt there must be something wrong with his mindset, as he found himself feeling a bit relieved while watching the curses break off, leaving only a collapsed pool of mucus on the ground.
"Save me, envoy, Master!"
"There are intruders here!"
"Stop, you vermin, stop right now! Get out of my kingdom!"
Panic made Zeruo incoherent, but it did nothing to slow his disintegration. Ironic as it was, he was now experiencing firsthand the process of watching his body disappear bit by bit.
Soon, the symphony of curses that were scattered everywhere stopped.
The last "mudfish" was suspended in midair.
Reflected in Zeruo’s eyes were the "Emperor"’s crimson eyes, and in that moment, he suddenly understood.
This was a machine monster devoid of emotions, which seemed to dislike wasting time on negotiations.
The machine monster merely scrutinized itself calmly and repeated its previous question, "Where is the emissary of the Tide Master now?"
Perhaps for the machine monster, this was no different from pest control.
Yet his shrill cry finally had an effect; the ground beneath him began to tremble violently, and dust and rubble fell due to the strong tremors. Gravity was not enough to bind such a massive creature.
The guard that dwelt in the prison was finally awakened.
Apart from dust and stones, RT6 detected some unusual special substances.
"Be careful."
Heeding her warning, "Emperor" shifted Paladin elsewhere. The spot he had just been occupying was corroded into a bottomless pit by mucus; the slowly dripping mucus onto the ground was highly corrosive, and even the metal tailored for "Emperor" could not withstand the acidic liquid for long.
"This component... it’s like biological stomach acid? No wonder I have been unable to detect its presence!"
RT6 suddenly came to realization, "You are inside the emissary’s stomach that’s why this place is so dark that not a single ray of light can penetrate it!"
Following her hint, "Emperor" quietly released his control over Zeruo.
The will to survive would drive him to escape as quickly as possible, and this would also enable her to gather information about this sea monster. Apart from being able to secret highly corrosive gastric acid and having a body large enough to swallow an entire cell, she could not discern any other information at the moment.
A fierce battle was inevitable.
Judging from the hierarchy of strength, this sea monster was a formidable enemy to "Emperor," on par with Triss.
However, this did not mean they had no chance of victory.
RT6 believed that the only reason they lost to Triss last time was due to the lack of her command in their incomplete form.
"Take heed, the direction in which Zeruo fled is likely the passage connecting the prison with the outside, located to your southwest..."
RT6’s voice came to an abrupt halt.
Because she clearly detected that, before the "mudfish" could recklessly slam into the wall, a surge of stomach acid suddenly spewed from the wall. Zeruo didn’t even get a chance to make a sound before losing the last sign of life.
The King who had ruled Atlantis for nearly a thousand years met his end before them in such an easy and hasty manner, not even fulfilling the role of bait.
"Small fry are indeed of little use."
RT6 cursed under her breath as she scanned everything in the prison swiftly through "Emperor’s" artificial eye.
In the last moments of his life, Zeruo at least proved one thing—recklessly approaching the periphery of the prison’s walls would result in a facial of gastric acid.
That must be the way to the outside world.
It’s just that she had no idea what kind of powerful attack would be required to break through the body of this sea monster.
She proactively communicated the situation to "Emperor," "This is a T3 level opponent, a slight mishap could mean death."
"I know."
After a time, "Emperor" knew he stood in the position of a challenger, "Let’s battle side by side..."
Before he could finish speaking, a ray of light penetrated from the outside, illuminating his face.
The noonday sunlight was somewhat dazzling.
Under the sunlight, a slender figure stood erect.
"Press ’X’ to execute the opponent... Father God, I’ve done it!"
