Chapter 756: Chapter 754: The Frog in the Well_1

For the people of Silvermoon Harbor, a bounty of 100,000 watts was enough for them to take the risk.

It meant they could stay on land for the next few years without having to go to sea, without having to struggle with the unknown creatures lurking in the depths of the ocean, let alone handing over a frail boy with little ability to resist to the Tidal Church, which wasn’t much of a risk at all.

The only thing they needed to overcome was the guilt in their hearts.

However, the "Emperor" thought that for the three people in front of him, the emotion of guilt never existed in their hearts.

And evidently, they had been blinded by wealth, to the point where they aimed their guns at him.

With the current level of cybernetic augmentation in his body, even if he didn’t use his Psychic Abilities and did nothing, the bullets could not inflict any injury on him.

"Who else knows you’ve been here?"

the "Emperor" asked.

"Of course, the fewer people who know about this, the better."

The leader of the three sneered, as one more person meant less money for each of them.

According to their discussion, he would take half, and the other two would share the other half.

If the oddball Franken had the sense to follow their advice, he wasn’t against persuading the other two to bring Franken into the fold, the three of them splitting the 50,000 watts minus him.

That still counted as a significant fortune.

This sneer made the "Emperor" wonder if this person was smart or foolish; they knew to find Diago by tracking him, yet naively placed their hopes in guns that could never be effective.

It again made him feel a sense of pity for those as ignorant as frogs at the bottom of a well.

Perhaps to the residents of Silvermoon Harbor, weapons bought at a high price from arms dealers were sufficient to deal with all kinds of trouble.

"The Tidal Church has been using these orphans, treating them as sacrifices to the sea monsters when they go out to sea."

The "Emperor" shared the information he had just learned with the three men. If it induced a sense of pity for Diago and the other orphans, that would be the best outcome.

He didn’t know where the custom of sacrifice originated from, but among the many folk tales about the ocean and the Sea God he had heard, offering sacrifices to them in exchange for the safety of the ships at sea was a widespread practice, seemingly becoming a conventional custom.

But he was doomed to be disappointed.

The three men had already been blinded by the enormous bounty, as the leader said, "So what? Maybe that’s just one side of the story, and even if it’s true... their parents died early, leaving them alone in this world doesn’t make sense. Better to end their lives before they suffer more hardships."

That statement utterly severed the possibility of further discussion.

"Well, let me be frank, you should leave now."

The pair of cybernetic eyes emitting a faint blue glow locked on the three men; the only reason they could still stand there and talk freely was that they were commoners living in Silvermoon Harbor.

The "Emperor" had a special fondness for this city and hoped as much as possible to solve problems peacefully. This was his last chance for them.

"Leave? The person who should be leaving is you."

The leader of the men stole his line, "Franken, I’ve already given you a chance. You’ve helped us before, and I don’t want to make things too ugly."

The dark barrel of the gun aimed at the "Emperor’s" forehead made the words he wanted to say get stuck in his throat once again.

Once again, the words he wanted to say were taken by someone else.

"You’ve been blinded by wealth."

It took a while, but "Emperor" finally managed to force out a sentence.

He thought the three of them should have known the gap between them, even if they weren’t present when he fought off the pirates, they should have heard about his actions from others.

As a Six Stars rescuer for the United Government, he had been through countless battles, but until then, nobody had ever pointed a gun at his head, threatening him to submit.

Perhaps, this was also the best representation of the simplicity and naivety of the residents of Silvermoon Harbor.

The leader was staring at him with cold eyes, issuing a final ultimatum to "Emperor," "You have 10 seconds to leave this place, 10, 9, 8..."

"There’s no need to count down, I won’t leave, and you are destined not to take this young man away."

Their eyes met.

Out of pity, "Emperor" warned, "Be careful, the gravity is about to increase."

"What exactly are you..."

The leader wanted to say something, but suddenly found it incredibly hard to breathe.

It was as if many invisible hands were dragging his legs, pressing on his shoulders, pulling his whole body towards the ground.

"Fire..."

This order did not bring any change to the scene in the ward, the two comrades he had summoned were also standing there dumbfounded, even the act of pulling the trigger had become a luxury.

The order quickly turned into a cry of alarm, they could no longer withstand the omnipresent pressure, they lost their balance, and the entire person was pressed to the ground by that invisible force. They wanted to say something, but their faces were pressed against the floor, and their internal organs were violently churning.

Despite being on flat ground, they felt as though they had been smashed to the floor from the height of several stories. Under the tearing of gravity, they even lost the ability to speak.

Next, they saw the floor cracking open.

With a bang, they fell with the collapsing floor to the level below.

However, the fall did not stop there. The gravity destroyed their footing; during their descent, they stared wide-eyed in horror, watching themselves plunge into the bottomless abyss.

The whole process did not last long.

The voices of the three men disappeared completely from the ward, and "Emperor" glanced at the bottomless pit, their figures had disappeared into the depths.

Before the doctors from the prosthetic hospital could arrive to inquire, he had transferred millions of watts from his account.

This was the inconvenience of his abilities.

The pit in front of him was the result of him controlling his abilities to the best of his ability, aiming for a targeted attack.

His mastery over Spiritual Energy had improved a lot over the years, preventing the entire hospital from being turned into ruins by his power in an instant.

Compensating for the damages caused by his duty had almost become a part of his life.

The familiar doctor rushed over at the sound, and "Emperor" immediately transferred the compensation to the doctor’s account.

For a Six Stars rescuer, money had lost its meaning, becoming cold numbers. He had considered getting rid of the three men with a hundred thousand watts, but in his years of traveling, he had come to understand a principle.

The desire of the human heart probably has no limit.

"Don’t be afraid."

"Emperor" noticed the doctor’s terrified eyes, clarifying, "They were the ones who started it."
