Chapter 638: Chapter 638: Knight play_1

The following afternoon.

Several knights clad in silver-white armor stood on the street corner, with a building marked with the emblem of the Iris Consortium behind them. Passersby who saw them cast envious and respectful gazes.

For those in District Two who aspired to become knights, this was also an important day.

On this day each year, a batch of enlistees, having passed through layers of stringent selection, became honored knights. As they were conferred the title of knight, they also received their silver-white armor and the mount belonging to a knight of the Iris Consortium.

Now, the top performers among these recruits had gathered together, discussing the most eye-catching news of the day.

"Hey, did you hear? ’Jade Pearl’ got a new chef?"

"Are you referring to that super expensive restaurant?"

A female member of the group picked up the thread, "I’ve heard their reputation isn’t that good, and only those aristocrats who don’t care about money like to go there."

"But things are different now. It’s said that they hired a chef from the Neutral Country at a high price yesterday, and now everyone is talking about them."

The young man who started the topic said with a smile, although they were all knights from the same enlistment, he already seemed to have assumed a relatively dominant position within the squad.

His parents had consciously cultivated his leadership abilities from a young age. As a family affiliated with the Iris Consortium, it was a natural outcome for him to eventually become an honored knight.

He valued these fellow enlistees highly, as in the future, they could all become brothers-in-arms who would venture through life and death with him.

"To commemorate this wonderful day, I’ll treat you all to check out whether what they say is true... How about it, Mo Lian, will you go?"

With that, the young man turned especially to address the person at the back of the group.

She had just left the house and already donned her helmet, hiding her face beneath it.

She was the most mysterious among the new recruits. A merchant who adopted her when she was still a street urchin gradually molded this introverted girl into an honored knight. To others, she usually came across as reticent and disinclined to take part in any collective activities.

Naturally, the young man saw her as the most difficult companion to deal with.

Mo Lian, ever sparing with her words, nodded her head anyway.

"Alright then, we’ve already made a reservation, let’s set off now!"

The young man’s face lit up with joy, laying the groundwork for him to become the leader of this small group.

When these silver-white figures arrived at the ’Jade Pearl’ restaurant, accompanied by the sound of engines, Song Lan was deeply engaged in a discussion about the future development strategies of the restaurant with the executive chef. Song Lan spared no details, sharing all he knew about restaurant operations with the other party.

As a high-end restaurant catering to aristocrats, their initial plan was to adopt a full reservation system in the future.

After spending a night together, he had effectively become the backbone of the restaurant; even during breaks, colleagues clustered around him with incessant queries.

His lunch break was completely usurped.

But considering the plan he had once discussed with Lu Xiang, he was much more invested this time.

Finally, his discussion with the executive chef was interrupted by the roar of engines. The chef looked out the window with some annoyance, but when he saw the white motorcycle parked in front of the restaurant, he suppressed his displeasure, "It’s the young people from the city, they’ve been awarded their knight titles today; it’s a day worth celebrating for them."

Apart from the Iris Consortium’s VIPs and aristocrats, the members of the Knight Group were those with whom they had the most interaction on a usual basis.

"Don’t underestimate these recruits, they might become the heads of important departments in the future. As long as you build good relationships with them, they could help you with most of the difficulties you encounter in District 2... They did reserve seats in advance, but with our long conversation, I completely forgot."

"Remember what we just talked about? For these important guests, you must make them feel at home with our service."

Song Lan couldn’t help but envision himself as the owner of the restaurant, contemplating how he would deal with the celebrities and knights of District 2 if he were the proprietor.

Just as he was about to head to the kitchen, his cellphone received a text message from an unknown number.

The person who sent the message did not reveal their identity, providing only an address.

Strangely, the address was in a compartment on the second floor of the restaurant, hoping for a meeting with him right now.

Song Lan made an excuse to the head chef and went alone to the designated place.

After reaching the second floor, he realized that the place chosen by the other party was very secretive. Since it was supposed to be break time, there were no other customers moving around inside the restaurant. The line cooks were also dozing off in the staff rest area, resting after a busy morning to recharge for the evening rush.

As he entered the room, a silver figure leaped out from the doorway.

The armored right arm wrapped around his face, pressing against the wall behind him.

The door to the compartment was also locked in the process. To ensure that guests could discuss business in the compartments with peace of mind, the restaurant had installed top-notch soundproofing equipment. Once the door was locked, not even a tiny bit of sound could get out.

The figure, with its face hidden by a helmet, scrutinized him in a very oppressive manner, creating an instant "wall slam."

"Shh, don’t make a sound."

A mechanically altered female voice came from behind the mask, "With the soundproofing here, even if you shouted yourself hoarse, no one outside would hear you."

They locked eyes.

The two stood in silence for nearly a minute before Song Lan coughed softly and asked, "Old Lu, what’s this new game of yours?"

"Role-play, wall slam, and locked room play. How about that, is your heart racing?"

Even though Song Lan had seen through her identity, Lu Xiang didn’t show the slightest embarrassment. Instead, she pressed in further, almost crushing him with her silver armor.

"This is a public place, please mind your behavior!"

Song Lan could only cite this righteous rhetoric to cover up his nervousness. To him, Lu Xiang in silver armor did indeed have a unique charm, and this also seemed to fit more with the image she had always presented to others.

Noble and upright Female Knight.

But now, this upright Female Knight was trying to do something indecent in a restaurant compartment.

"Alright, enough teasing you."

Even through the mechanic voice modulation, Song Lan could tell that Lu Xiang was in a good mood, "This is an identity Ivan arranged for me—Mo Lian, a new recruit who has enlisted. Don’t get it wrong when we’re in public."

"Don’t worry, Old Mo."

"Hey? Can’t you speak unless you add ’Old’ in front of someone’s name?"

Lu Xiang raised her voice, punishing him by pressing the chest plate of her armor onto him and said in a fierce tone, "This is a public place, I’ll let you off today, but don’t let me catch you privately again!"
