Chapter 539: Chapter 539: Be a Good Kid _1
In another sickroom, the arrival of an uninvited guest interrupted the conversation between two girls.
Despite the visitor’s polite glance at the door, the familiar silhouette that materialized in the doorway invoked a shudder that seemed to emanate from the depths of their souls. Merely being stared at by the other party was enough to let fear spread within their hearts.
"Good day, Principal..."
The girls unconsciously lowered their voices.
They had never imagined that this incident would alarm the principal.
This seemed to be related to their teammate’s impulsive behavior. They understood why their teammate had violated school rules, but they couldn’t agree with his actions.
With the power that they had as students, it was impossible to contend with the academy, let alone the entire Purple Wisteria group, so they had to act with discretion until their ideals were fulfilled.
"I’ve heard about your situation."
The principal seated himself in a chair on his own accord. This wasn’t an angry reprimand, yet the calm and even tone made the girls’ tension rise even further.
When you’ve done something wrong, you’re most afraid of being summoned by a teacher or principal, especially when the one they’re facing has numerous terrifying legends associated with them.
At first, they too thought these rumors were just campus ghost stories made up by some bored students. Every school has one or two individuals who like to exaggerate the truth, but as they delved deeper outside the campus, and their teammates found information in those lingering notes, they realized that many of the terrible rumors were not based on fabrication.
They could very well have actually happened, to some seniors from past years.
And indeed, following the "predecessors’" notes, they had easily passed the pinhole apparatus test and concealed the results of their explorations outside the campus.
"Principal, we had no idea he would suddenly violate the school rules. He never discussed these things with us..."
"I know."
The principal calmly interrupted them, "Yesterday’s test results have proven that. I mean, you remind me of a student from the past. If I remember correctly, her name was Anjing. Just like her name, she was a very quiet and shy girl."
The sickroom fell into utter silence.
The girls were certainly familiar with that name since the academy’s display of outstanding graduates still showed Anjing’s name to this day. Her photograph was placed in the most conspicuous position, and she was praised for not only exhibiting friendship during her school years but also for helping the company overcome many challenges, big and small, after being employed.
This was regarded as the model for Purple Wisteria Academy graduates.
"However, you might not be aware that this demure girl once had a rather rebellious period."
"...that’s quite surprising."
The girls could barely squeeze out a smile, continuing with the principal’s narrative.
"Of course, I believe you are more than clear about that."
The principal’s words once again plunged them into the depths of despair, "That girl had a talent that even I couldn’t help but take notice of. She was able to leave some traces in places I wouldn’t know about, traces that I wouldn’t detect."
In the records of Purple Wisteria Academy, they had achieved tremendous success with Anjing’s thought correction experiment.
They changed Anjing’s rebellious teenage character, making her truly understand how honorable it was to dedicate her strength to the company.
However, Anjing seemed to have considered the worst-case scenario, leaving something behind outside the school.
It was the seed of the spirit of rebellion.
When later generations find it, this spirit finds new soil to flourish in, blossoming and bearing fruit in the hearts of its followers.
The girls before him, along with their teammate who openly defied school rules, were Anjing’s steadfast followers.
This time, the girls didn’t respond.
The hands that kept tugging at the covers conveyed their feelings at that moment.
This detail naturally did not escape the principal’s eyes. Although, in his position, he should not have personally inquired about these trivial matters—as the teachers in the school could competently perform the thought correction work—from an educator’s perspective, he needed to completely eradicate the seeds of rebellion left from the past from the school.
Watching the students of the academy walk down the wrong path due to improper guidance truly pained him.
"I hope you can lead me to those leftover notes, which will also allow you to undergo thought correction remedy as soon as possible, and return to the right path," he said.
Upon hearing "thought correction," the girl who had just experienced an electric shock last night instinctively shuddered, unable to hide the terror in her eyes.
Her teammate noticed this and spoke up, "Principal, we realize our mistake."
"Merely admitting your mistake verbally is useless," the principal shook his head. "You must recognize your error in thought and genuinely accept the academy’s ideology to completely open your hearts."
During this conversation, the girl kept making eye signals to her teammates.
Of course, she wasn’t sincerely admitting her mistake but reminding her teammates that even if they did as the principal said, they couldn’t escape the electrocution.
The Support Type Ability User in the team tended to be the most delicate and sensitive, especially since she had passed out from an electric shock the day before, and her will was at its weakest.
"Why hesitate? If you really care for your classmate, you should help us find him before he does something irreparable. It’s not too late now."
"I understand, Principal," she said again.
The girl spoke up once more.
She noticed her teammates struggling with fear, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the fingernails of the hand she had wrapped around her arm were embedded in her flesh, scratching the skin and oozing blood.
"But..."
Suddenly, the girl shifted her tone, "Only you, Principal, should personally communicate with him about such a serious issue."
Before the sound of her voice had faded, the girl’s other hand hidden under the bedding suddenly threw an object.
Almost simultaneously, everything in the room slowed down.
Then, a figure burst through the window into the infirmary.
While everyone was caught in slow motion, the boy’s movements were as fast as Lightning. He held a spray-like object in his hand, quickly closing in on the principal who stood there dumbfounded.
This was their reply to the academy.
Early that day, the boy had returned to campus, bringing back vital information from outside and planned this grand escape.
Although the principal’s arrival was unexpected, it wasn’t enough to stop their determination and steps to leave the school.
The next moment...
The principal raised his hand, caught the object the girl had thrown at him, and put handcuffs on the boy’s wrists even faster than his actions.
Intense electricity coursed through the boy’s body, and crackling sounds could be heard in the infirmary.
Almost instantly, the boy lost consciousness and his body continued to twitch on the ground.
"Even though you are all outstanding students, in my eyes, Anjing’s ability is far superior to yours in both the element of surprise and level of ability development. Yet her rebellious actions still ended in failure—haven’t you considered why?" the principal cast his gaze back to the girl.
Clearly, their team leader was no longer able to answer this question.
Seeing shock and confusion written in the girl’s eyes, the principal said, "That’s because no matter what abilities you possess, you cannot realize them in front of me. You might as well understand this as part of my ability... I have understood your answer, so now, accept the remedy you have coming."
With that, he symbolically straightened his white coat, which was not in disarray, and walked out of the infirmary.
There was no longer any need to continue the conversation.
In fact, these three rebellious children were never the ones he needed to seriously consider. The person who could be called a rival was somewhere outside the campus, watching them.
