Chapter 538: Chapter 538: Facing Danger Optimistically_1

Purple Wisteria Academy had never before been plunged into such turmoil.

By the time Dr. Kulin and her team arrived at the scene, the entire building had already turned into a breeding ground for rampant plant growth, from a distance resembling the aftermath of an experiment gone wrong that caused a psychic to have a mental breakdown.

But...

She had to take another look at the student handbook.

The student in question, named Xinya, was one of the least promising in the school; theoretically, she didn’t even qualify for a mental breakdown, and even if she had been subjected to an enhancing experiment, the result should have been nothing more than her fainting.

Regardless of the process, she now had to quickly calm down the student who was on the verge of a breakdown. During the times when enhancing experiments were widespread, such incidents were common, and more often than not, they led to tragic outcomes. She suspected that the teacher in charge of education might have already died at Xinya’s hands.

The occurrence of two teachers’ deaths in one day had sunk Kulin’s heart into an abyss.

Ever since Song Lan and Lu Xiang visited the academy as guests, one problem followed another. Before the disturbance, Xinya had even secretly visited the two of them.

Kulin signaled to the guards.

Unlike the artificial intelligence gatekeeper responsible for guarding the school gates on regular days, this security force had extensive experience in handling emergency situations. They were a special operations team assembled specifically to control psychics, equipped with a multitude of devices designed to negate abilities.

The guards, in their uniform attire, hid their faces under black hoods.

Though she was interested in the new abilities displayed by Xinya, she had to prepare for the worst. A psychic on the brink of mental collapse posed a significant danger; even support-type psychics could cause substantial casualties. Therefore, they had to be ready for the possibility of severely injuring or even killing Xinya.

Following the signal, the security team checked their weapons and slowly approached the building now consumed by abnormal plant growth, hearts chilled with trepidation for the task at hand.

The plants before them seemed to come alive with consciousness, twisting and writhing in their presence.

They couldn’t shake the feeling that their intelligence was flawed, as the menacing plants did not appear to be the creation of a support-type ability user.

However, just as the guards were about to breach the building, something completely unexpected happened to Kulin.

The "mentally collapsed" Xinya actually walked out from the building.

She pulled a semi-conscious teacher along with an anxious expression and signaled with her hands that she was harmless upon seeing the guards.

This did not seem like the behavior of someone who had suffered a mental breakdown.

Faced with the approaching guards, Xinya didn’t resist but instead allowed the guards to press down on her shoulders and fit her wrists with ability-restraining devices, handcuffing her hands behind her back.

During this process, Kulin noticed some details.

The psychic ability restraining device didn’t electrocute her, but as soon as her psychic energy was suppressed, the plant life that had consumed the entire building indeed receded at a visibly rapid pace.

Though Xinya’s hands were handcuffed, she continued to urge the guards to stay away from the plants, claiming that anyone grabbed by the vines would be drained of their strength and then fall into unconsciousness.

This was evident from the teacher’s current condition, having recently undergone the process.

Did Xinya’s abilities... truly grow?

Kulin couldn’t help but consider the possibility. If it were true, it could only be described as miraculous. Understanding the underlying principle could potentially become one of their future key educational avenues.

Compared to nurturing those with inherent talent, the potential of turning ’trash’ into a ’genius’ was far more fascinating.

Xinya was immediately taken to the school hospital building, where a series of checks awaited her. Beyond her mental state, they seemed even more curious about her current psychic power level.

After undergoing blood draw, CT scans, and other procedures, she was arranged to be in a single patient room.

Handcuffs with a psychic suppressing effect were cuffed to the head of the bed, and there was a guard standing at the door.

Since last night, her life had already deviated from its course. Originally, as "trash," she had only wanted to use the time before the start of school to find two unfortunate teammates to get by the new term, yet she had witnessed the academy’s most outstanding student blatantly violating school rules, attacking the artificial intelligence guards, and escaping the campus.

If it were in a romance novel that she usually read, this could have been the start of a romantic affair.

But this was reality.

Awaiting them was not sweet romance, but thought correction remedies meticulously prepared by their teachers.

Then she remembered the whole process of the abnormal growth of the plants, which was certainly not her intention. As someone who had been bullied and mocked by classmates for years, she did not have the guts to openly attack teachers in school.

However, before the plant proliferation, the teacher did indeed mention that stimulating experiments could awaken potential in psychics.

Could it be... she actually had immense potential?

Xinya was a positive and optimistic person, and her experiences at school had honed her to have a good mentality.

She remembered the long novel she had read online, where the protagonist, also ridiculed as "trash" in the school, awakened their potential through some fortuitous event and embarked on a path of reversal. She had been so engrossed in catching up to the latest Chapters that she stayed up all night reading for several days, boiling with excitement under her blanket deep into the night.

And now, the same thing was happening to her?

With this thought, she looked at the potted plant on the windowsill, even wanting to get electrocuted to try it out.

After a moment of contemplation, Xinya bit down and pinched the flesh on her thigh with the other hand that wasn’t cuffed.

Ouch!

It hurt so much that she almost cried.

She looked excitedly at the potted plant on the windowsill, but the plant did not react at all. Its green leaves swayed a few times in the wind, as if mocking her foolish action.

This foolish action was also seen by another pair of eyes.

The moment that pair of eyes fell on her, Xinya felt a chill almost like shivering. Ignoring the pain, she looked towards the door.

The man observing her was solemn and serious.

He was wearing a white lab coat like Dr. Kulin, watching her expressionlessly.

"Hello, Principal!"

Xinya was not articulate in her speech.

The principal was definitely one of the most mysterious people in Purple Wisteria Academy. He almost never participated in school affairs, and she had only seen him once when the Ragus Foundation visited the school during a large-scale event.

Many legends about the principal still circulated among the students to this day.

And at that moment, the premonition echoing in her heart made Xinya feel that those scary legends might not just be fabricated stories.

The principal did not respond to her and, after silently observing her for a moment, turned and walked towards another patient room.
