Chapter 518: Chapter 518: Time, Place, Characters_1

Lu Xiang summarized Song Lan’s entire day’s experience on paper, and the feeling of taking notes made her involuntarily reminisce about her days studying at Morning Star Academy, where during the course "How to Kill a Psychic?" teachers often provided a description related to psychic abilities in class, asking students to analyze potential weaknesses and to devise countermeasures for surprise encounters.

Analysis was an important skill they needed to master in the course, and now, she had to apply this theoretical knowledge to real life.

"The first time the premonition appeared was at 6:00 am, three minutes before the alarm I set."

For Song Lan, waking up exactly at six in the morning was unquestionably an abnormal occurrence.

In other words, if time had truly reversed, it would start from the moment Song Lan woke up today and only he vaguely sensed what had happened in the previous "today." Based on his description, it was obvious that many details of the events had changed after the reversal of time.

After finishing her own list, she handed it over to Song Lan.

"Is there anything missing from the above?"

"No."

Song Lan carefully checked the contents of the list. His last "precognition" came from the time he and Mr. Killer parted ways. Following Mr. Killer’s plan, he should have already embarked on his journey to leave the Seventeenth Region and head for the "outside world."

"Which means that this kind of precognition might be unrelated to time."

Lu Xiang propped her chin with her pen, deep in thought.

It had been nearly an hour since Song Lan arrived at her office, and since coming here, his mind hadn’t experienced another precognition; everything stayed at the moment of his meeting with Mr. Killer.

This contradicted her hypothesis that "precognitions would gradually emerge as time passed."

Although to be rigorous, she should have Song Lan stay here for a few more hours to verify this possibility, their time was critical because Song Lan mentioned that in addition to these detailed premonitions, he also had a vague premonition that a significant event occurred in the Seventeenth Region before the time reversal.

Based on the content of the list, while there were deviations between the details of the precognition and reality, there was also a considerable part that maintained a high degree of consistency with what Song Lan had precognized.

For example, the sudden visit from a strange agent from the investigation bureau or the unexpected torrential rain not forecasted by the weather report.

Lu Xiang glanced outside the window where the intensity of the rain had lessened. After discarding her first hypothesis, she proposed a new possibility, "Perhaps you only get these premonitions when you’re at the same location as the previous timeline and witness similar events."

If this hypothesis held true, it meant that on the previous "today," she and Song Lan did not appear in this office.

For Lu Xiang, this was also a significant piece of information.

If a major event that swept through the entire Seventeenth Region truly occurred on the previous "today," why wasn’t she in her office?

Staying here would not only allow a better coordination of Law Enforcers for emergency deployment, but also enable the broadcast of urgent notifications to all residents through the Law Enforcers’ system.

And logically, around that time, Song Lan should have been in his own office discussing countermeasures as well.

Unless, during that period, some irresistible factors forced her to leave the office.

For Lu Xiang, who hadn’t experienced any precognition herself, it was nearly impossible to know what had happened on the previous "today." Now all her clues came from Song Lan’s intermittent premonitions.

In the previous "today," someone important had come to the Seventeenth Region and likely interacted with her. The reason she couldn’t stay in the Law Enforcers department might be related to this.

Then, she remembered her previous phone conversation with Qi He.

He had joked that the Review Meeting wanted her to work at the Counter-Intelligence Department of the First Region, but since she had unequivocally rejected the offer over the phone, and it seemed to conflict with the interests of the Ragus Foundation, the matter was quickly dropped.

But if someone else had been in her place, they might not have given her the chance to refuse; The Review Meeting often resorted to forceful measures.

"The airport," Lu Xiang suddenly uttered after the silence.

Putting herself in the shoes of the Review Meeting, she tried to judge according to their way of doing things. It was very likely they would arrange for her to leave the Seventeenth Region before the big event mentioned by Song Lan engulfed the whole city and report to the Counter-Intelligence Department.

It could either be an emergency evacuation or a stripping of her authority; they did not wish for her to influence the upcoming events.

The two left the Law Enforcers department and took a hover vehicle to a luxury hotel near the airport.

This was one of the Councilor’s properties, a chain hotel present in every city. In a state of emergency, it would likely serve as a temporary rallying point.

Almost the moment Song Lan got out of the car, a familiar premonition surfaced once again before his eyes.

He saw the coming and going of luxury vehicles, gathering the distinguished individuals of the Seventeenth Region, in stark contrast to the current quiet scene at the hotel.

"Old Lu, you’re a genius," Song Lan remarked.

Lu Xiang glared back at him. Truth be told, she was quite dissatisfied with the nickname "Old Lu," but right now there were pressing matters to address, and she didn’t have time to correct Song Lan’s manner of address and attitude.

After hearing the latter part of his sentence, she felt more assured; it confirmed her second guess was correct, and Song Lan’s premonitions were indeed related to the location.

He had been here the previous "today."

"What did you see?"

"Many regional directors of big companies and some politicians; they were all gathered here."

"That’s them arranging for evacuation," Lu Xiang realized, "Before the United Government decides to deploy mass-casualty weapons in an area, they arrange for key figures to evacuate first."

This discovery made her feel closer to the truth, yet also quickened her heartbeat.

She couldn’t be certain whether the same "big event" would unfold again soon.

"Wait a second..."

Song Lan had a vision of finding Lu Xiang in the hotel, but what happened next was far beyond his expectations—after finding her, he "saw" an encounter taking place in the hotel’s corridor.

His adversary was a Six Stars rescuer he had never met before; unlike the fragmented premonitions of the past, every detail of this fight was exceptionally clear.

"Old Lu, I must confess," Song Lan decided to adopt the policy of transparency he had always followed and said to Lu Xiang, "I think I dealt with a Six Stars rescuer in the hotel, took his chip, and even hid him in the wardrobe of your room."
