Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Customer_1

In Isabella’s hospital room, Song Lan saw a familiar figure.

White coat paired with a nano-tight combat suit, but this time, Jasmine hadn’t concealed her movements and was sitting next to Isabella, her palm emitting a soft glow gently pressed against the wound on Isabella’s back.

Isabella was tough, lying prone on the hospital bed, and even though pain made her whole body tremble, she didn’t let out a sound, yet the spreading glow didn’t seem to heal the wound; it seeped into Isabella’s body and eventually disappeared without a trace, leaving the two wounds still bleeding profusely, with blood trickling slowly down her spine.

As the saying goes, laymen enjoy the show, experts examine the technique.

Upon witnessing Jasmine’s actions, Song Lan was deeply shaken.

Support Type Spiritual Energy!

This Six Stars big sister was actually an extremely rare support; if he wasn’t mistaken, Jasmine was trying to use Support Type Spiritual Energy to help Isabella heal her wounds.

Support Type Spiritual Energy had always been his blind spot, inherently at odds with him, and even with all his effort in training, it usually ended in failure.

It was only after seeing the wounds with his own eyes that Song Lan realized the situation was much more complicated than the school doctor had described.

From where Isabella’s skin was ripped open on her spine, one could clearly see the skeletal framework of her prosthesis.

Online, such prostheses that don’t affect appearance are known as minimalist style, all custom-designed based on the user’s condition—top-tier stuff. Isabella’s entire set of prosthetics could probably be worth several "Rats."

It seems that "Rats," as their financial investment products, still had a long way to go.

Cough.

Song Lan steadied his mind; theoretically, those two wounds should only have damaged the protective coating of Isabella’s prosthesis, and it would even be difficult to draw blood, but now it looked as if her expensive prosthesis had lost its effect, branded on her like it was on Common People.

It seemed that Isabella noticed Song Lan’s inquisitive gaze, and she spoke her first words since being brought into the hospital.

She scolded angrily, "Get out, Common People! Who let you in!"

However, this time, even Lu Xiang stood on Isabella’s side and stared him down, demanding, "Why are you looking so closely?"

Only then did Song Lan notice the scene beyond the wounds.

To facilitate the remedy, Isabella had taken off her blood-stained school blouse, and due to the two wounds crossing her back, Jasmine had also undone half the straps of her bra.

Song Lan soon realized that Isabella’s irritation was not aimed at "Common People," but at him alone.

"What if I say that I am guided by a spirit of science, without a sliver of improper thought? Would you believe me?"

He felt it was necessary to clear things up for himself.

"Believe."

Lu Xiang nodded, "But you, get out."

...

After a unanimous vote, Song Lan was the only one kicked out of the hospital room. Standing in the silent corridor of the school infirmary, he felt the coldness of people’s hearts; these days, no one believes the truth anymore.

He really did discover something unusual about the wounds on classmate Isabella’s back.

"I believe you."

As Song Lan turned around, he saw Jasmine, "You’ve been observing the wounds on her back ever since you came in."

"How is she?"

"I’ve never seen wounds like these, they can’t stop bleeding."

Jasmine shook her head; she could only temporarily stabilize Isabella’s condition, unable even to alleviate the pain, which left her with a strong sense of frustration. "Do you have any thoughts?"

She never thought she’d one day ask for advice in her own field of expertise from a layman.

Song Lan’s main profession was a detective, and his knowledge of medicine was limited to magazines—this was what Hanna had said.

"To be honest, I don’t know much about medicine."

Song Lan said, "If it were me, I would investigate what Isabella did after returning to school and who she had encountered."

Atop a building somewhere in the academy.

"Feeling cold, consciousness scattering, these are all normal, symptoms of excessive blood loss."

The young woman leaning against the edge of the rooftop once again heard the woman’s Whisper in her ear.

She was gazing up at the sky.

The sun shone brightly—it should have been the brightest moment of the day, yet everything she saw was tinged with ink-black, the pain from behind making her more alert than ever. Unconsciously, her blood had already soaked her school uniform and the hem of her skirt, spreading across the ground.

However, on this bleak day, she saw a piece of exhilarating news.

Isabella had been seriously injured and sent to the school infirmary, her condition still unknown.

This proved that the person she had spoken with was not a scammer, but a genuine merchant.

"If you regret it, you can tell me at any time."

The merchant had considerately reminded her by her ear.

"That’s good."

The girl’s voice was weak, blood loss made her consciousness blurry, and her eyelids became unbearably heavy, ready to fall asleep at any moment.

But she had no regrets, for this was her revenge as a "Common Person" against those who usually stood high and mighty.

"I don’t understand, why not just leap from here."

Black ink from the wound on the girl’s back crawled up to the rooftop; she supported herself on the edge, overlooking the campus below, "If it were so, you wouldn’t have to endure the pain you’re experiencing now."

And Isabella certainly wouldn’t understand why she died.

Her entourage would only be terrified to see that her body had suddenly become torn to pieces, not even having the chance to be taken to the infirmary.

From a merchant’s point of view, that would be much more dramatic.

"That would be letting her off too easily."

The girl hung her head low, her eyes lifeless, as though they had long been shrouded by darkness, "I want her to understand the feeling of pain, cold, and loneliness."

"As you wish..."

The woman in the shadow chuckled lightly, "There are other clients calling me now, I hope you can hold on until I return."

..................

Meanwhile, elsewhere.

Jasmine followed Song Lan’s advice and found Isabella’s guidance counselor.

He was a young man dressed quite appropriately, with gold-framed glasses perched on his nose, looking every bit the societal elite. She sought out this man not only because of his role as a guidance counselor but also because he had been a legal advisor for the Iris Consortium.

He came to Morning Star for a very simple reason, to help Isabella deal with some aftermath issues.

"Tell me, what trouble has Isabella gotten into now?"

"Isabella?"

A fake smile stretched across the man’s face; he pushed his glasses up and said, "Miss Isabella is the most obedient and sensible child I have ever seen. How could she possibly cause any trouble?"

"Are you telling the truth, or do I have to have her parents call you personally?"

At this, the man paused momentarily, but quickly regained his composure and continued smiling, "Indeed, there are some legal issues... um, let me look for it, the file should be right here."

Jasmine had no interest in the man’s pretense; she scrutinized him sternly until he gave an awkward smile and resignedly walked towards the bookshelf in his office.

He pressed a button next to the bookshelf, and with a light "click", a hidden door in the bookshelf opened.

"These are regarding Miss Isabella since her enrollment..."

The man’s voice abruptly stopped.

He clearly saw his own arm, reaching for a document, detach from his body and fall to the ground.

At the same moment, his internal organs seemed to have been cruelly smashed to the ground from a great height; then a mouthful of fresh blood sprayed out of his mouth.

"You...!"

He stared at Jasmine incredulously; his twisted body convulsed violently on the ground a few times before it completely stopped moving.

Jasmine too was shocked by the scene unfolding before her.

The current scene was just as the school physician and Isabella’s entourage had described, without any warning, and her Spiritual Energy had detected no one passing nearby.

Yet, the former legal advisor of the Iris Consortium had just died in front of her.

He had clearly been inside his own office yet died as if falling from a tall building, heavily smashing into the floor.
