Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Men Must Fight_1
After taking care of the inn’s affairs, Song Lan and Fengling took some time to visit the neighboring farm.
The efficiency of the artificial intelligence and the Bug Swarm was astounding. Just two days had passed since their last visit, and the farm was nearly complete. They had planted seeds that Lu Xiang had bought through acquaintances in the core area that very morning. As the two arrived at the farm, "Worker Bees" were bustling in and out of the fields, performing tasks of irrigation and pest control.
Damn, do these people ever rest at all?
It seemed the artificial intelligence and "Worker Bees" had been toiling day and night without rest for the past two days. Yet, they were not content with just that; they had also started setting up a living area not far from the farm. The dwellings were beginning to take shape and five AIs had formed a planning group, focusing on urban design and beautification data for small towns.
The supervisor proudly showed Song Lan the three living area design proposals with the most votes, noting that even the "Worker Bees" had participated in the vote. The entire staff of the farm was actively involved in building their home.
When Song Lan mentioned the need for rest, the supervisor looked at him with a baffling gaze, puzzledly asking the astonishing question, "What is rest?" Moreover, before Song Lan could enlighten the AIs with the spirit of the Salted Fish Teaching, the supervisor tactfully suggested that his presence was affecting everyone’s work efficiency and advised him to go elsewhere.
All the way, Song Lan felt an unprecedented sense of crisis.
He deeply understood why the United Government limited the percentage of artificial intelligence in companies—describing their work efficiency with ’one equals three’ may well have been an understatement.
The farm had only just taken shape, yet the AIs had already planned out the future sales channels for the crops.
Upon reaching the artificial lake, Fengling was squatting by the shore, intently watching the water-filled reservoir. The supervisor mentioned that the first batch of fry had already been released. She had taken a handful of fish food from the AI managing the fishery. Attracted by the bait, the fry had all gathered in front of her.
She had never raised small animals before and found the wriggling fry in the pond fascinating.
But one doubt lingered in her mind.
Seeing Song Lan approaching, she asked, "So sharks are this small when they’re young?"
She made it clear that she was determined to raise sharks. Song Lan has always been an open-minded person, always eager to satisfy every request from the Bug Swarm’s staff.
But considering the space and environmental factors, he compromised a bit and introduced to her, "These are sardines."
To help the sardines survive and reproduce in a freshwater environment, the biology expert Medea even set aside her work for a day to conduct research.
"Sardines?"
Fengling’s eyes filled with confusion, "Aren’t they sharks?"
"They are a subspecies of sharks."
The addition of "ding" in their name indicates they are distant relatives.
Song Lan felt this explanation made perfect sense and had no issues with it.
Fengling pondered. After seeing these fry, she set a new goal for herself in Sector 17—to observe the sardines every two days and record their growth. She was curious how these fry, not even the size of her palm, would grow into the rulers of the oceans.

Returning from the farm to the inn, the Big Radish Head and his two comrades were waiting downstairs, fuming. They sat on the sofas in the lounge, with various weapons such as steel pipes, machetes, and daggers lined up on the table. Coupled with their stern expressions, if Song Lan didn’t already know their identities, he might have mistaken them for protection fee collectors.
"Brothers, we’ve discussed this for a long time, and we think it’s time to take the next step," one of them said.
As he spoke, he grabbed a steel pipe from the table, leapt from the sofa, and with a shout, he charged into the open space in front of them. He brandished the pipe as if fighting an invisible enemy—after all, he had been part of the Rebel Clan, and even though he was unnoticed in the group, he had at least followed the boss into a few brawls.
The steel pipe was his weapon of choice, and if there was a proficiency level for skills in real life, he believed he would at least be an apprentice-level pipe user.
Seeing this, Spicy Chicken couldn’t show weakness. He grabbed a cleaver, somersaulted over the coffee table with much more finesse than Big Radish Head, and soon, the two’s weapons clashed.
Sparks flew as blades met in combat.
The duel ended with a cry of "Ouch." Big Radish Head clutched his palm that had been accidentally cut by the blade, startling the Sheep Village head who was about to join in with a dagger. He slowly retreated back to his half-rolled position and placed the dagger back on the table as if nothing had happened.
Spicy Chicken quickly applied hand sanitizer, managing to stop the bleeding from Big Radish Head’s wound promptly.
All this happened within five minutes, leaving Song Lan with profound confusion.
He couldn’t understand what they meant by "taking the next step." Could it be that after three days in town, the pressure got to them, and they suddenly decided to switch careers and become comedians?
Although the performance of the two didn’t look funny, out of respect for their professional attitude, he still gave them a symbolic round of applause.
"We are not putting on a show!"
Big Radish Head exclaimed anxiously. They had arranged this unique interview to learn from the two, but to their dismay, they accidentally staged a failed demonstration of disarming an opponent without a weapon in front of everyone.
"We want to learn how to fight the Void creatures from you!"
After living in the small town for a few days, they had gained a basic understanding of the environment.
Don’t pick up things you haven’t seen before.
Always keep mentally healthy.
Don’t leave the small town.
If injured, treat it as quickly as possible with hand sanitizer.
But among these survival guides, how to fight the Void creatures was never mentioned, and most entries about Void creatures on the website advised them how to run away if they encountered one.
However, after witnessing Song Lan’s battle in the basement today, they realized that Void creatures could also be eliminated. Even Song Lan, who didn’t look strong, could do it, so they suddenly felt that they could do it too.
The other fighter, Fengling, not only looked more delicate but was also a girl.
The key was in the technique!
They believed that the biggest difference between them and Song Lan was not in physical strength or combat ability but in the experience and knowledge to deal with Void creatures.
"Don’t think I’m weak just because I’m injured, I can actually fight quite well."
After his wound had healed, Big Radish Head hurriedly patched himself up. He didn’t want to be labeled as a "weakling" by his teachers on his first day of seeking knowledge.
"You can fight well?"
Fengling looked at him skeptically. Every time she saw Big Radish Head, if a fight occurred, he was either lightly wounded or knocked unconscious. How could he fight well?
"Yes, I’ve actually learned some wrestling skills for a while. I can throw a strongman weighing over 200 pounds!"
Big Radish Head stretched his muscles a bit.
After all, this place was the boundary between the Void and reality; they couldn’t possibly bring in a real strongman.
Apart from himself, Spicy Chicken seemed to be the most robust-looking one here. He winked at him—"Brother, if they ask me to throw you later, just cooperate!"
Spicy Chicken caught on immediately, smiling slightly; everything was under control.
"Come on, then, try to throw me."
Fengling stepped forward, coming in front of Big Radish Head, "I don’t weigh 200 pounds; I’m much lighter than a strongman."
"This... might not be a good idea."
Big Radish Head’s smile froze on his face; as a grown man, throwing a frail woman who wasn’t even as tall as his shoulder didn’t seem right.
Although Fengling was a combat member among the adventurers, from her build, it was clear that she was likely the type skilled with using weapons for ranged combat.
"Didn’t you say you learned wrestling?"
"I’m afraid you’ll get hurt."
"Don’t worry, I won’t get hurt."
"Alright then."
Big Radish Head rolled up his sleeves, ready to go all out, "Just don’t regret it!"
