Chapter 330: Chapter 330: We All Have a Bright Future_1

A person who called himself Narude prophesied the coming of a disaster.

Even after his departure, the infected sectors of the Energy Center did not return to normal, but for Aljom and the others, the silver lining was that at least the "Sun" remained intact.

Apart from those present, no one knew what had happened within the energy facilities, but the current peace seemed like the calm before the storm.

The appearance of Narude broke the tense atmosphere between Veirdo and Aljom, and for the first time in over a decade, they were sitting in the same conference room under Esinvig’s push, discussing the future of the nation.

Despite their political differences, everything they did was for the continuation of the nation.

"The Mouse," as the only person who had contact with the Void, attended this important meeting.

For the first time in his long service with the Esinvig Army, he found an appropriate occasion to reveal the truth; when the people in the conference room heard him claim that a voice resonated deep within him, a voice that had genuinely bestowed upon him power, everyone’s expression became exceedingly grave.

The downfall of Aleye seemed to be intricately linked with the forces behind Narude.

Now, looking back at the photographs retrieved from the scene, they could see many signs of infection, yet, in their known history, no such enemy had ever appeared.

"That is to say, the lord of the Void that Narude believes in can twist the mind of creatures, grant them undying bodies, and unimaginable psychic abilities," he explained.

After "The Mouse" told his tale, Aishi summarized the meeting.

In the conference room, people looked at each other in dismay.

In their minds, a being capable of the three aforementioned feats was almost indistinguishable from deities spoken of in some Sects.

This reminded her of the "enthusiastic citizen" of District Seventeen; she had always thought that he was a Psychic similar to the leaders of the Rebel Army like Esinvig, but now it appeared that his ability to overcome all obstacles in District Seventeen could very well be because he, like Narude, served the mysterious lord of the Void.

"Not long ago, someone destroyed the Barrosa Group’s branch near the Twelve Countries," Esinvig informed Aljom about the latest news from the surface. "He is very likely related to this Void Sect."

But now the biggest problem was that no one knew the ultimate goal of this Sect, nor the form of their existence. Hasty investigations would only put them in peril.

"Narude easily defeated Wild Bone, and any one of us here would likely meet the same fate as Wild Bone if we faced him alone," they acknowledged.

The meeting thus moved to its most critical part, "You now have to choose whether to carve out a path back to the surface or stay here awaiting doom."

.....................

Evening.

"Aljom has delivered a speech claiming that enemies from the Void have infiltrated the intelligence department, controlled the person in charge, Boris, and confused the minds of the people. They have now started to actively plan their return to the surface," Lu Xiang summarized the changes in the Fourth Neutral Country for Song Lan. She didn’t know how Song Lan suddenly came up with the rhetoric about Narude and the lord of the Void, but the results showed that "Narude’s" conversation with Aljom and others in the energy control room had produced immediate effects.

"This is the power of an external foe," Song Lan said confidently, "Even if the nation’s internal disputes continue, when they face an external enemy capable of destroying them, it can reunify them.

He had never forgotten his original intention in coming to the Fourth Neutral Country—he was here to mediate.

However, mediation didn’t always have to be achieved through peaceful negotiations; sometimes intimidation worked better, "Aljom has become paranoid due to placing too much importance on the ’Sun’," but he didn’t truly wish for the nation to perish, so Narude’s appearance was a perfect way for him to step down."

Apart from the visible crisis, Narude brought an additional benefit to Aljom.

All the wrong decisions over the years could now be blamed on Narude’s deception by the Void, although this excuse might not truly gain the forgiveness of those who were persecuted, at least it allowed everyone to save face.

After all, facing a disaster that could strike at any moment, only by standing united could they overcome the challenges posed by enemies from the Void.

"Director, you played a part in this too,"

While "Narude" faced off against Aljom and the others, Lu Xiang was not idle either.

As the special effects artist in the team, she actively helped Song Lan finish the lighting, set, and other effects. Special effects were of extraordinary significance for a successful deterrence; they let Aljom and his people experience the terror of the Void and infection even more vividly.

"Actually... it was quite thrilling."

After disconnecting the neuronal link, Lu Xiang’s face was still flushed, seemingly immersed in the confrontation she had with the two Rebel Army leaders. As a former military academy graduate, she understood the incredibility of their actions—even if the United Government wanted to challenge two Rebel Army forces simultaneously, they would need to deploy a significant number of elite troops.

And they had achieved a better effect by deploying only a Horn Bug warrior and a resurrected mutant creature.

"We also have to thank a behind-the-scenes worker—everyone’s good friend, Wild Bone."

"Wild Bone?"

"He took on the important role of a combat power assessment unit and was the main reason why Aljom and his people didn’t dare to make a move against me at the Energy Center."

Song Lan highly praised Wild Bone’s defeat.

This was the strength of a Six Stars rescuer; even after losing consciousness due to the chip being removed, he was able to intimidate opponents as a benchmark of combat power.

If it wasn’t for the fact that Wild Bone was ultimately found and taken away by Lu Xiang’s teacher, he would have liked to offer their old friend a drink.

"In this way, Aljom and Veirdo reached a temporary truce, the people of the Fourth Neutral Country got their wish to live on the surface, Esinvig gained a powerful ally, your teacher didn’t find out the hidden energy source in the Fourth Neutral Country but managed to retrieve Wild Bone’s body, everyone got what they wanted, and there’s a bright future for all."

"What about Narude and the lord of the Void then?"

Lu Xiang asked curiously.

"Of course, they will return to the Void and wait for the next opportunity to descend,"

"And then enjoy a peaceful holiday?"

She saw through Song Lan’s thoughts.

Perhaps everyone still in the Fourth Neutral Country had received what they wanted, but she hadn’t. As Narude’s dedicated lighting technician and someone from the Void as well, she had to voice her own opinion, "There’s something I’ve been wanting to say."

Lu Xiang looked straight into Song Lan’s eyes, her calm and composed demeanor made him feel a hint of crisis, "These days, whenever you get the chance, you stay on me, not even willing to walk on your own."

Hearing this, Song Lan’s face stiffened, and he explained weakly, "Isn’t it all for official duties?"

"The official duties are over now,"

Lu Xiang said, "And your actions have made me realize a problem—as an enemy from the Void, your physical strength is really too poor, you must train."
