Chapter 329: Embrace the Void_1

Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Embrace the Void_1

Song Lan was someone who would talk his way out of anything rather than resort to violence.

In fact, if possible, he wouldn’t even want to talk; he’d prefer to lie down and rest.

Regrettably, reality often doesn’t comply with one’s wishes.

However, precisely because of this, he had come to deeply understand the limitations of verbal evasion. From the moment Veirdo walked through that door, it was destined that the negotiations would ultimately end in failure. If consensus could be reached, Veirdo wouldn’t have been locked up in prison for over a decade.

And the environment for today’s negotiation was much more hostile than before.

First, this was in front of all the subordinates of Aljom and outsiders from the Esinvig Army. Even if Veirdo spoke reasonably and compellingly, Aljom had to stay the course to the bitter end.

To admit in front of all his subordinates and outsiders that he had chosen the wrong path?

Given what Song Lan had observed in this city, that was impossible.

"So, this is your way of breaking up a fight?"

Lu Xiang couldn’t help but ask, Song Lan’s train of thought was out of this world, always coming up with ideas that surprised her—anyone who saw Song Lan now would instinctively think he was about to start a war.

He stood at the Energy Center of the Fourth Neutral Country, looking as though he intended to completely destroy the Center and plunge the nation into darkness.

She felt this was very much in line with Song Lan’s usual temperament, yet he repeatedly emphasized that this was the only way to break up a fight.

Before their conversation could continue, Aljom rushed over with his men, accompanied by officials from both the Esinvig Army and the Rebel Army.

In this country, only the "Sun" could make Aljom come here regardless of everything else.

Due to the sudden incident, no one could bother with keeping the confidentiality agreement, and all who saw the "Sun" for the first time were stunned by the sight before them. The entire Energy Center was like a glass dome, and beneath their feet was a dazzling, Sun-like, unknown energy source.

It was this unknown energy that sustained everything in the Fourth Neutral Country’s underground world.

"Boris, what are you doing?"

Aljom asked coldly, pushing towards the darkness where Song Lan stood, but ultimately unable to cross the barrier built by the "Sun," blocked on the other side.

In the Fourth Neutral Country, no one was unaware of the name Boris.

He was the head of the intelligence department and the most trusted person by Aljom over the past decade. Boris was entirely in charge of eradicating Veirdo’s remnants and strictly investigating all those who harbored thoughts of living on the surface. His status within the Aljom Army could be described as second only to one.

But now, this most trusted deputy of his, who was also injured in the recent attack and should have been recuperating in the hospital, had come to the Energy Center.

"Boris..."

Boris, who stood before the control panel, appeared thoughtful. His possessed-like demeanor sent a shiver through everyone present. "Yes, this is indeed me, but it is not my real name."

His gaze left everyone and shifted to the "Sun" beneath the dome.

Then, to the Rebel Army’s horror, something happened—they clearly saw the precise energy facility appearing to be infected by some sort of virus, as flesh-like growths and other indeterminate substances sprouted in the corners and beneath Boris’s feet, spreading outwards at a visibly rapid pace.

They moved slowly towards the dazzling concentration of energy, turning even the inorganic matter devoid of any life into a substrate for their existence.

The first to react was Aishi.

She had seen this kind of infection before when she was at the Barrosa Group.

However, the ice could not stop the infection from spreading. Boris stood still without moving an inch, letting the icicle pierce through his chest.

Behind that skin and bone, rather than a heart or anything else bizarre, what appeared to everyone was an extremely chilling eye. It seemed to be peering through Boris’s body, observing this world. Almost in the moment the icicle pierced his body, the resulting hole was repaired by new flesh and blood.

"You come from the Barrosa Group... What on earth are you?"

Esinvig asked cautiously.

"The Barrosa Group? Oh, yes, that certainly was one of my means to observe this world,"

The voice of Boris changed, as though coming from a distant place, ethereal and void, yet it clearly entered everyone’s ears. This sensation was like conversing with a force that did not exist in this realm. "I remember you, outside the Sixth Nation; we have met before. Besides you, there was another strange and interesting individual pursuing us, perhaps he was aware of my existence sooner than you all."

The following words caused Esinvig’s pupils to constrict.

Although the outside world and the United Government both thought he had defeated Wild Bone, only those who had experienced that night knew the truth.

By the time they regrouped and arrived at the scene, the chip inside Wild Bone’s head had already been taken by someone else.

What chilled them to the bone was the fact that although there were scorch marks left by the satellite weapons, they could not find any trace of another person. Therefore, the most likely scenario was that the person had approached and taken the chip from Wild Bone’s head without Wild Bone even noticing.

This thought was now confirmed, and what followed was a sense of panic about the unknown.

The infection was spreading faster and faster, covering the entire energy control room with proliferating tumors, even the light of the "Sun" was obscured.

The revival of the opposition, Veirdo’s jailbreak, and everything that happened today seemed like a script pre-written by the person before them.

"Who are you, exactly?"

Intuition told Esinvig that the person in front of them did not belong to any power they knew of but was some entity beyond their current understanding.

"My name is Narude, servant of the Void Lord."

The elusive voice spread throughout the room, and everyone stood petrified, seemingly trying hard to digest this unheard-of term. It sounded not like some concrete existing force but more like a deity from some religious faith.

The Sect of the Void...

Has there ever been such a sect in this world?

"The Day of Annihilation is coming, and in the end, all will return to the embrace of the Void."

For a split second, a reflection appeared behind Boris.

It was a creature they had never seen before, human-like yet reminiscent of a certain type of insect, existing somewhere in this world, gazing down condescendingly at everyone present.

And, from the only information they could gather at the moment, even the so-called servant of the Void, Narude, could easily defeat the humanoid weapons developed by the United Government.

"When that time comes..."

The mycelium carpeted the floor, completely isolating the "Sun" on the other side.

——"Your spark will also be extinguished."
