Chapter 91: The Light Nymph Meets The Dark Fairy
Chapter 91: Chapter 91: The Light Nymph Meets The Dark Fairy
The winds were howling outside! The acid rain was battering on the barrier! My hero was cowering in a corner, clutching a bowl of mushroom soup!
What? You might ask.
Belladonna married Alexios’ ghost, that’s what!
It was a match made in hell. There was no reason in my mind behind the two of them tying the knot. And back then, I wasn’t 100% sure what the golden mushrooms were doing.
Now that those two had combined their single brain cells into something like a hive mind with two brain cells... they were rubbing them together, darn it!
My mushrooms, even though I didn’t know it, were killing them. And it wasn’t a slow thing, either.
No! The only thing I knew about the mushrooms was that they now healed people up to 99% health. Which was pretty much a cure all.
After all, if that 1% landed you in the grave, you were probably a goner before the mushroom even touched your lips.
Every time I cooked, I was killing the already dead Lich King more and more.
Every time I placed the golden mushroom powder over Belladonna’s salad greens because the skin and bones hag was on a diet, may lightning strike the bitch, I gave her indigestion... and lowered her lifespan.
So, the two had decided to get rid of me. It was even logical!
Get rid of the Foodie Nymph who was killing you, get rid of his family, for pretty much everyone in the war had a connection to me by that point, afterward!
When he was too dead to feed them anymore.
Oh, but I wasn’t ready to give up!
There was one temptation to rule them all. Something that went back to the roots of most humans.
The hunter-gatherer roots.
Back then, the brave men went out, hunted a deer for a couple of days, came back with a deer which they all had to carry because it was massive, and then the women cooked it.
And they talked while they were cooking it. And their kids played there, by the cooking fire.
So, the human brain had grown to think, during those early years, back when I wasn’t even born, that the smoke of grilling meat over an open fire meant family.
And Alexios, for all that he was a Lich and probably too vile for words, had started off as a human!
There they were: steaks!
I had cut them up when the winds began to howl, telling me of the storm.
I had just beat the stuffings out of them, for they were pork steaks, when the first acid rain drop fell.
And, as I finally placed the black pepper, red pepper and salt over them, the barrier was already up and running... while the tourists were hiding in the Cave of Sin, looking one yawn away from falling asleep.
Man, I just hoped that I wouldn’t get in trouble for how I had treated these people...
The steaks were grilling. Their scent carried over to the World Tree with mana.
The trap was set.
I could hear as Alexios was arguing with Belladonna that he could come in here, in my tree, and then take off with my food.
The git even had a body.
I smiled, a smile so impish that my young hero, who had eaten the bowl of soup and was now eating a bowl of leftover kebab from the Wrath delivery, who was getting on my nerves with how little he ate, whimpered.
"Just eat more," the boy was growing, becoming stronger. I needed to make sure that he swore off sweets and became a true predator!
Because I had already roped him into him becoming a boss mob of mine. It was for his own good. I wasn’t exploiting children!
Besides... it was either me, or the guild.
The guild, which was split into two groups: The ones who were now bound to the army and the ones who were locked away in hell... I mean, the Royal Academy of Solaria!
Good help both groups.
Solas is Solas. Not even once.
The winds began to howl even stronger. I smiled even wider.
"Just eat more," I repeated, as the second pork steak disappeared from the grate on which it had been sizzling. "Come now, Alex. Just eat more!"
The man did so.
I watched as he ate another steak, becoming less see through. I watched him, as he began to slowly take a human’s shape.
I looked at Aron and Amdis, who were wide awake and holding a net.
"Just eat more," it was my battle mantra. Because this man, this undead, had done worse things than hump Methuselah, even if I didn’t know it at the time.
Had killed Solas, who was slowly being reshaped.
"Come now," no witch had ever been as wicket as me. No witch! "Eat."
His soul shaped his flesh. Flesh which was being cured by the magical mushrooms.
The golden ones, which healed 99% of someone’s health.
As soon as he began to lick his fingers, looking at the big bowl where I had more steaks marinating, I knew it was time to become Sylvan the Foodie Nymph for true.
Neither good nor evil.
Just a Foodie Nymph on the search for the best ingredients! Only the best...
I redirected my skill from the tourists, who were now sharing stories, for I had supplied them with the mushroom soup which Wrath had not wanted to eat, and my nameless hero had not managed to finish, and focused it on Alexios.
Now... 99% is practically bullet-proof. But that one percent was the little window I needed.
He screamed; my blood flooded with his mana, Belladonna’s mana, the mana of two undead.
I smirked, as my hero began to whisper something about priests and demons.
Sucks to be you, kid, I thought to myself. Your soul is mine!
The thunder shook the world. Alexios was reduced to a crystal!
A chariot pulled by rotting hellhounds came out of nowhere and dragged his soul away!
"Bella," no witch, none, not even those who use candy houses, had ever sounded as creepy as I sounded at that moment. "You’re next!"
"Sylvan!" I heard Edda yell.
And then... I was completely cut off from the World System.
And Edda...
Edda was gone!
