Dungeon? This Tree? Why Don't You Join Me for Lunch? (Dungeon Core) -
Chapter 74: Finishing Touches Before the Grand Opening!
Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Finishing Touches Before the Grand Opening!
Titan was clearing the area of wildlife, as Aron was making the finishing touches to the tourist trap.
It happened... overnight.
The fallen trees were cleared away by golems I hadn’t created!
And there were tree houses in the trees which had survived! Something that must have cost him a fortune!
Not to mention...
I sighed.
Ok, maybe this was not something that I should be envious about. He wanted to help me and left his dungeon for me.
It was love... perhaps it had been born from the soul bond we both shared at the start, but...
"Hm... and this is... quinoa cake?" For the life of me, I had no idea why Nick still wanted to stay here and not hunt Titan.
Titan, who looked like a handsome and tall blond pale vampire, with lovely blue eyes.
It was almost like Nick wanted the strange being to enter the harem! Something he was still trying to do.
"The runes, Nick!" Now that he was this close to me, something he hadn’t been in a long time, I could sense that he was giving off the same mana as the chopper rune he was sitting next to. "Why gift them to me?"
"I... I’ve been using the teleportation rune," he mumbled. "To get the food you send off into the void."
I began to blink.
"But... that food was supposed to go to a good cause!" I protested. "It was right there, on the first note!"
I took out my most treasured possession. It was a golden piece of paper, not made from gold, but still sprayed with golden dust.
It was written so beautifully that even back then, as hopelessly as I was, I was ready to swear eternal love!
Here is the note! The dearest words ever spoken to me!
Dear Sylvan the Nymph,
I have smelt your cooking from afar and would like a slice of that apple pie you are baking. Please — use this rune to send off some of your food for a good cause!
You must have a kind heart, to cook from sunrise to sunset! I... am on a diet, but I want to taste your cooking!
Just once!
With love,
N.
"You said that my cooking was good enough to cheat on your diet with!" I roared. If that was a lie, so help me, I was going to get my frying pan, and...
"Your cooking saved me," he whispered, as he helped himself to another slice of cake. "Good stuff."
Desmond was eyeing the cake as well, but he was making no moves towards it.
No, he was lying in Nate’s lap and just staring at it with longing. Patting his bulging stomach from time to time.
Should I take him running? Could he even run, as full of cake as he was?
Honestly, he looked like the favorite child of a grandmother after Yule!
Even if he got fat, I would still love him. Because he loved me. It was as simple as that.
But it wasn’t good for his health!
I was even ready to put him on a diet, I shudder to even think about it, but I was ready!
"Do you have any idea how many calories a Boliarin has to eat per day?" Nick touched my hand, taking me out of my musings.
"No?" I was still out of it. The fear that Desmond might end up having to prick his finger every day and get potions from witches was a very real thing.
There were some things not even I could joke about. Sickness born of bad nutrition was one of them.
I felt cold, my bottom lip was wobbling.
"And if you weren’t so determined to send enough food for an entire army, the soldiers would have starved the first couple of months," he continued, which made me look at him.
"You... shared my food?" I mumbled. He nodded. "Did you also tell Solas that I hadn’t paid my taxes?"
He nodded once more.
"Why?" It was a strange thing for him to do. Didn’t he say he loved me? That he wanted to become a member of the Foodie Nymph Harem?
"I wanted to see you up close," Nick closed the distance between us, but his fingers ghosted over my body. Not touching. Just feeling the air over my limbs. "To finally talk to you. You... you remember what I was, right?"
I nodded. That horror of a man who looked more dead than alive was difficult to forget.
"And you gave me back this," he pointed at his face, a silly grin on his lips.
A light reached his eyes, they began to twinkle!
I couldn’t help it; I poked him on the nose.
"Sylvan?" A chuckle escaped him.
"You love me?" I asked him, but I already knew the answer. "Silly man! I’ve loved you since the first chopper rune let me make an entire cauldron of stew for half the time!"
Nick’s eyebrow rose.
"Oh?" His hands finally took a hold of me.
I placed my hand on his cheek, caressing it.
"But," my gentle smile turned vicious. "You ratted me out to Solas! He could have killed me!"
Nick just sighed. It was a long and mournful sigh. So, as if he were certain that he’d lose me after he told me the next piece of information.
"There is nothing Solas wouldn’t give me," Nick closed the distance between us, capturing my lips.
That cliffhanger was something that got me so mad, I opened my mouth to protest.
I already had a few choice words I was going to tell him!
He used the opportunity to shove his tongue into my mouth and turn my legs into jelly.
The next moment, the rest of the harem began to crowd us...
Hm...
It was nice, I had to admit. But darn, what was with Solas giving everything to Nick? Nick the Farmer? The weakest of the Boliari?
As if!
He was probably trying to make himself seem more important!
Still... he kissed very well...
