Chapter 61: 044 Truly Sinful (First Update)_2
Every gesture, composed and elegant.
Jin Zhou’s throat nervously tightened. "Hel...Hello, I’m Jin Zhou, the... acting chairman of Golden Spoon."
The young woman curled her lips into a faint smile and gestured to the seat opposite her. "Sit."
Jin Zhou, of course, didn’t dare to sit.
Although the girl appeared quite young, she exuded an aura that made one’s heart race. It wasn’t aggressive, yet with just the flicker of her gaze, it could captivate and unsettle without a sound.
Jin Zhou had met countless people in his life. He was no fool like Jin Yu; this young woman was undoubtedly not simple.
"Twenty-two years ago, Jin Hui brought a woman and child home. Your mother, on the other hand, was driven out of the Jin family. Over the years, that woman and her child were showered with affection, while you and your brother were repeatedly neglected. Five years ago, Jin Sha was in a car accident and left permanently disabled, losing all rights to inheritance. The following year, Jin Hui conveniently named Jin Yu as the rightful heir."
Jin Zhou’s eyes widened in shock.
Old Sir Jin was a man who cared deeply about appearances and had kept these old stories tightly under wraps. Outwardly, he always claimed that Jin Yu was the legitimate son of his first wife who had been lost and later found. To justify his favoritism, he implied the boy had faced hardships in his early years.
Unexpectedly, this young woman knew everything, as though seeing straight through the veil.
Jin Zhou hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Actually, I came to thank you."
Shen You’an raised an eyebrow.
"The car accident involving my brother wasn’t simple. I’ve investigated it for a long time. I know who was behind it, but I lack the evidence."
Jin Zhou forced a bitter smile. "The consequence of favoritism is the collapse of brotherly relationships, turning against one another. During the fiercest period of contention last year, I didn’t dare close my eyes at night."
"I don’t dare to hope for your mercy. After all, Jin Yu brought this upon himself. He’s an adult and must bear the consequences of his actions. Golden Spoon is the culmination of Old Sir Jin’s life’s work. If its collapse is the price of his favoritism, then to me, that would be the best form of revenge."
With that, Jin Zhou shrugged, a trace of relief appearing on his face.
"Some things were never mine to begin with. Losing them is just losing them. I’ll rely on my own abilities to build my own brand."
"I apologize for disturbing Miss Qi this morning. I hope it won’t trouble her, and I also hope it hasn’t disrupted your breakfast."
After saying this, Jin Zhou turned and left.
Even by the time he walked out of the hotel, no miracle had occurred.
Standing at the hotel entrance, Jin Zhou let out a bitter smile.
All or nothing, and he had failed.
Upon seeing the young woman at first glance, he had changed his plan.
Simply pleading for leniency seemed too routine, too unimaginative. He decided to try a different approach, to stray from conventional lines.
Yet even with this, the other party had remained unmoved.
Do everything within one’s power, and leave the rest to fate.
Returning to the company, a heavy gloom hung in every corner. Anxiety and unrest were palpable.
Many employees chose to resign, abandoning the company in its darkest hour.
"Mr. Jin, bad news! President Jin Biao has run off with all the funds on the books!"
The secretary rushed in, flustered.
Jin Zhou let out a cold laugh. "I’d really love to see what expression Jin Yu will have when he learns about all of this."
Those earlier words, he had meant from the heart.
If Golden Spoon were to fall, so be it. He truly had no lingering attachment to it.
Jin Yu, oh Jin Yu, when you and Second Uncle conspired to frame me, did you ever imagine this day would come?
Alliances formed out of self-interest will, inevitably, crumble for the same reason.
Jin Zhou sat in the spacious office, glancing around. Suddenly, an empty feeling settled in his heart.
The secretary reminded him, "Mr. Jin, your phone is ringing."
Jin Zhou numbly retrieved his phone, mechanically answering it and placing it to his ear.
The secretary noticed that, though she couldn’t hear what was said on the other end, something in the conversation caused Jin Zhou—who had been sitting like a lifeless statue—to suddenly widen his eyes in disbelief.
He even stood up abruptly in his excitement.
Unease stirred in the secretary’s chest. The situation was already dire. Could it possibly get worse?
After a long moment, Jin Zhou remained standing, still holding the phone to his ear, even though the call had ended.
Jin Zhou suddenly asked, "Do you know Tianlu Bank?"
The secretary froze, then vigorously nodded. "Of course, I do. It’s the best investment bank in the world. They have a branch right here in Spring City, though their standards are incredibly high. Many people can’t even get a meeting with the branch manager."
"Tianlu Bank wants to invest in me."

He Qian came to Spring City this time for collaboration talks.
Only after arriving did he hear about the trouble Cai Xiang had landed himself in.
That was why he had attended that hearing on that day, completely unprepared for the humiliation he endured from a mere impudent girl.
