Chapter 83: Seduce Him
Julia stood in front of her vanity, admiring her reflection as she applied the last stroke of her bold red lipstick.
The color popped against her skin, complementing the sharp contouring of her cheekbones and the delicate highlight on her nose.
She leaned back slightly, letting her eyes roam over her appearance.
The lingerie clung to her body, accentuating every curve just right.
She looked perfect, and she knew it.
She reached for the bottle of expensive perfume and gave herself a generous spritz, the scent filling the air around her.
Tonight was the night.
She was finally engaged to Lucas, and this evening she planned to seduce him.
A smile crept across her face at the thought.
How had she gotten here?
It all started with that fateful accident.
The memory flashed before her eyes.
She had been driving down a quiet road when she spotted an overturned car.
Like the good Samaritan she portrayed herself to be, she pulled over, kicked off her heels, and rushed over to help.
The car was in bad shape, fuel leaking dangerously from the wreckage.
Her heart pounded as she peered inside and saw Lucas and Amos trapped in the car.
"Hold on!" she had called out, already formulating a plan.
With all her strength, she managed to pull Lucas out of the car, dragging him away from the wreck just in time.
Her eyes flicked back to the vehicle, where Amos was still inside.
For a moment, she hesitated.
Amos, her former accomplice who had abandoned her, didn’t seem as deserving of rescue.
She glanced at the leaking fuel and made her decision.
She called for an ambulance but made sure to tell the paramedics not to worry about the wreckage.
"No one else is in there," she had said, her voice calm despite the looming danger.
Just minutes later, the car exploded, a fiery blast that sent her covering her ears in mock terror.
Inside, though, she had smirked.
Amos was no longer a problem.
She followed the ambulance to the hospital.
Lucas had been unconscious for days, but when he woke up, there was a twist of fate that worked entirely in her favor—Lucas had lost his memory.
The last four years were a blank, meaning he had no recollection of Aurora.
He remembered their old relationship, but nothing beyond that.
Julia had blushed at the thought, her plan coming together perfectly.
She sprayed more perfume and adjusted her lingerie, smoothing the fabric over her hips.
The soft squeak of the door opening made her heart race, and she quickly turned around, her anticipation growing.
There was Lucas in a sharp tuxedo, seated in his wheelchair. His new assistant, Gabriel, pushed him forward.
Julia’s smile widened.
The doctors had told her Lucas would never walk again due to the accident’s severity, but she didn’t care. He was hers now.
Lucas glanced around the room, his expression unreadable.
The candles, the roses on the bed shaped into a heart, the dim lighting—it was all set up perfectly. But instead of showing any reaction, a flash of annoyance crossed his face.
"Take me downstairs," Lucas said quietly, his voice calm but firm.
Gabriel nodded and began to move the wheelchair, but Julia quickly rushed forward, placing her hand on the armrest to stop them.
"Lucas, wait," she said, her voice soft. She leaned down slightly, her eyes pleading as she tried to hold his gaze. "I—I wanted to surprise you. We’re engaged, remember?"
Lucas glanced at her hand resting on the armrest, and Julia quickly pulled it away, her heart sinking.
"I don’t need your apology," Lucas said coldly. His eyes flicked to her tight lingerie, his tone becoming more clipped. "What did the doctor say about your pregnancy? Was it really necessary to wear something like this?"
Julia’s face burned with embarrassment.
She hadn’t expected him to say that, hadn’t anticipated his lack of interest.
She swallowed hard, trying to salvage the moment.
"I just wanted—" she began, but Lucas cut her off.
"Gabriel, take me back to my study," Lucas ordered, ignoring her completely. "And after that, escort Julia to her apartment."
Gabriel nodded, moving swiftly to follow the command.
As the wheelchair rolled away, Julia stood frozen, her arms dropping to her sides.
She had never felt so humiliated.
She rubbed her bare arms and scoffed under her breath.
"Why is he so hot-tempered anyway?" she muttered, biting her lip.
She turned back toward the mirror, staring at her reflection.
"Am I not looking good enough?" she whispered to herself, her fingers trailing down the curves that Lucas hadn’t even bothered to glance at.
Disappointment gnawed at her, but there was nothing she could do now.
She had thought that seducing him would be easy, that he would fall right into her arms. But this... this was unexpected.
Meanwhile, Lucas was being wheeled into his study.
Once Gabriel shut the door behind him, leaving him alone, Lucas glanced around the room, taking in the familiar surroundings.
He sighed deeply, the frustration settling in his chest.
The accident had left him with gaps in his memory—four whole years gone.
Four years he couldn’t recall, no matter how hard he tried.
Julia had explained the situation, how they were engaged now, and how she was two months pregnant with his child.
Yet, something felt off.
He couldn’t place it, but he knew there was something important missing from his life.
Some memory that kept slipping just out of reach.
But the doctors had warned him not to stress his brain trying to recall things.
"Let the memories come back naturally," they had advised. And so, he tried.
He had no choice but to trust that whatever was important would come back to him in time.
Lucas shook his head, forcing the thoughts away.
He had always been strong, always in control of his life, and this would be no different.
Whatever pieces of his past were missing, he would handle it just as he handled everything—on his own terms.
He leaned back in the wheelchair, his eyes narrowing slightly.
For now, he had to focus on the present. And if Julia was part of that present, he would deal with it in his own way.
