Chapter 81: Medical Terms
Chapter 81: Medical Terms
The next few hours were a blur of paperwork and medical terms.
Aurora signed the consent forms without hesitation, her mind laser-focused on one thing: her son’s survival.
She wasn’t going to let anything stop her, not even the fear clawing at the edges of her thoughts.
As the surgical team prepared the baby for the mechanical heart implantation,
Aurora stood by the observation window, watching them move with precision.
Derek placed a hand on her shoulder, but she barely noticed. Her eyes stayed locked on her child, tiny and fragile on the table, fighting for his life.
"Stay strong, Leo," she whispered to herself. "I’m right here."
Many hours passed, and the surgery was finally over.
The mechanical heart implantation was a success.
Aurora was allowed to see her son, her heart racing as she entered the room.
Her baby lay in the small hospital crib, hooked to machines, but alive.
She approached him carefully, cradling his tiny hand in hers, her voice barely a whisper as she spoke to him.
"You’re so strong, Leo. Just like your mother," Aurora murmured, brushing her fingers gently over his small head.
Her heart swelled with relief and gratitude that the surgery had worked, but the fear of what came next lingered.
A soft knock interrupted her thoughts.
Aurora looked up and saw Derek standing at the door.
"Come in," she said softly, but her voice held its usual strength.
Derek stepped inside, his expression serious. "Aurora," he began, "just as you ordered, we took Alpha Grey and his guard to the Pack Council. But now... they’re asking for your presence."
Aurora nodded, already expecting this. "It’s procedure," she replied, her voice calm. "I’ll go. But I won’t be long."
She leaned down, kissed Leo’s forehead gently, and stood up, giving Derek a nod. "Let’s go."
---
The sacred site where the Pack Council met was solemn and imposing.
As Aurora entered the sacred site, the gravity of the meeting pressed in on her, but she kept her head high.
Alpha Grey stood in the center of the room, bound by silver chains, yet towering with strength.
His werewolf healing abilities had done their work—his wounds had completely healed, leaving no trace of the injuries he’d suffered during their battle.
He locked eyes with her, his lips curling into a smug smirk, full of that familiar arrogance that sent a chill down her spine.
The chains seemed almost unnecessary now, as though they were a mere formality for appearances’ sake, because it was clear—he was back to full strength.
But as Alpha Grey turned to face the Elders, his expression shifted.
The arrogance faded, replaced with a softened, almost humble demeanor.
He stood straighter, his face a portrait of patience and respect, as though he believed he could manipulate the entire room with his mere presence.
Aurora saw through it.
She scoffed internally. No amount of healed skin or respectful looks could erase the evil she knew was capable of.
One of the Elders cleared his throat and addressed her. "Aurora Grey, is it true that you ordered your men to shoot the Alpha King, your father?"
Aurora held her ground. "Yes. I did it to defend myself and my son."
The Elder nodded and whispered something to the others.
Another Elder, an older man with a deep, gravelly voice, spoke next. "Are you aware that, due to your order, Alpha Grey’s guard was killed?"
Aurora clenched her fists. "I wasn’t aware then, but I am now." Her voice didn’t waver.
The Elder’s gaze hardened. "What you have done is serious. It could lead to banishment... even beheading. Are you prepared for that?"
Aurora glanced at her father, who watched her with a smug grin.
She swallowed hard but stood firm.
"Yes," she said, her voice steady. "But what about what the Alpha King has done?"
She refused to call him ’father’ anymore.
"He’s been murdering innocent pups to keep his position. He tried to kill my child. What was I supposed to do—stand by and let him take my son’s life?"
Alpha Grey raised an eyebrow, amused by her words, but remained silent.
The Elder leaned forward. "We understand that you are the pup’s mother, but emotions should not dictate your actions, Aurora."
"Emotions?" Aurora cut in, her eyes flashing with anger. "This is about survival. My child was almost killed in front of me. If I hadn’t acted, Leo would be dead. Because of him," she pointed at her father, "my son is lying in a hospital with heart failure."
The Elder banged his gavel on the table, silencing her. "You will speak only when spoken to."
Aurora bit her tongue, feeling the fury simmer beneath her skin.
The Elder continued. "To summarize, you fought against your father, the Alpha King, showing great disrespect. You killed his guard and attempted to murder him."
Aurora’s eyes narrowed. "I did what I had to do. But what about his crimes?"
Another Elder, who had remained silent, finally spoke. "The Alpha King has only acted to maintain his position."
Aurora scoffed at the blatant favoring of her father, but said nothing more.
Her heart pounded as she waited for their final decision.
The Elder looked at Alpha Grey. "As for the Alpha King, he will be punished with a week away from his position."
Aurora’s jaw dropped. "A week? That’s all he gets for murdering pups and attacking my child?"
The Elder met her gaze without flinching. "Yes, because it was you who resorted to violence first."
Aurora was speechless.
Alpha Grey, meanwhile, smiled victoriously, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction.
The Elder turned to Aurora. "As for you, Aurora Grey, your punishment is banishment from the Grey Pack and the entire country for five years. You will be given time to stay with your son until he is discharged from the hospital. After that, you will be escorted out of the country by the Alpha King himself. You are not to return until your banishment is over."
