Chapter 59: Plastic Sheet
Hades stood in front of the TV, watching the news broadcast with fury building inside him.
The headline read, "Lucas Rossi Exonerated: ’Truth Always Prevails.’"
Lucas was smiling, proud, standing tall before the reporters.
Hades felt his blood boil as the image of Lucas basking in his victory filled the screen.
Without a second thought, Hades grabbed the glass of water beside him and hurled it at the TV.
The glass shattered, sending shards everywhere, while water dripped down the broken screen.
The men kneeling behind him flinched but remained silent.
"This is all your fault!" Hades bellowed, pacing the room as his anger surged. "You should have executed him during the trial! You failed me!" His voice roared through the room, his rage evident.
He grabbed the table and flipped it with ease, the wood splintering as it hit the floor.
The men stayed kneeling, their heads down, but one dared to speak.
"Sir... during the trial... the security around Lucas was too tight. It seemed someone with influence tightened it. We couldn’t get close."
Hades’s anger flared even more.
His fists clenched, jaw tight as the realization hit him—someone had been protecting Lucas. But who?
Then, as if struck by lightning, he remembered Sophia. The woman who had seduced him, tricked him, and played him like a fool. She was also behind this.
"Bring Sophia to me," Hades ordered coldly. His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. "Now."
The men quickly bowed and rushed out of the room, leaving Hades standing amidst the wreckage.
---
Sophia had just stepped out of her office, ready to call a cab, when she felt a sudden grip over her mouth.
Panic surged through her as rough hands grabbed her and dragged her into a car.
She tried to scream, kicking and thrashing, but the hand over her mouth muffled every sound.
Fear gripped her as she was thrown into the back seat.
Her heart pounded wildly as the car sped off.
She had no idea where they were taking her, but every second was a blur of panic.
When the car finally stopped, Sophia was hauled out and dragged into a mansion.
Her legs felt like they would give out beneath her, her breath coming in short gasps as they forced her inside.
At first, she didn’t recognize where she was.
Her eyes were squeezed shut, and all she could do was plead for help, whispering desperate words between sobs.
She could feel her heart racing, her body trembling.
"Open your eyes," a cold voice commanded.
Sophia froze. She knew that voice. Slowly, she opened her eyes and lifted her head.
Hades stood before her, his face dark with fury. She trembled, dread crawling through her veins.
The men who had brought her in left the room, leaving her alone with Hades.
Without warning, Hades lunged at her, gripping her by the neck and lifting her off the ground.
Sophia gasped, her hands clawing at his arm as she struggled to breathe.
"You thought you could work against me and get away with it?" Hades growled. His grip tightened, cutting off her air supply as he pressed her against the wall. "You tricked me... made a fool of me!"
Sophia’s vision blurred as she struggled to gasp for air. Her hands flailed, desperately trying to loosen his grip, but Hades was too strong. Her chest burned, and the room started spinning.
"Please..." she choked out, her voice barely a whisper.
But Hades wasn’t listening.
His rage consumed him as he kept choking her, pressing harder until her legs kicked weakly in the air.
The sounds of her gagging and gasping filled the room, but he didn’t care.
All he saw was betrayal, and all he felt was the need to punish her for it.
It wasn’t until her hands stopped clawing at him, until her body went limp, that Hades realized what he had done.
His grip loosened, and he let go, watching as Sophia collapsed onto the floor in a heap.
She wasn’t moving.
Hades stared down at her, his breath catching in his throat. He nudged her hand with his shoe. "Hey... get up."
She didn’t move. His wolf stirred uneasily inside him, and a sliver of panic broke through his anger.
He bent down, trying to listen for any signs of life.
He put his ear near her nose, hoping to feel her breath. Nothing.
He checked for movement of air against his hand, but there was none.
Her fingertips had a faint blue tinge, and her face had turned pale.
A sinking feeling hit Hades hard. He knelt beside her, his hands trembling as he realized what he had done.
She wasn’t breathing. Her chest didn’t rise.
A tear rolled down his cheek.
Memories flashed before him—memories of sweet moments they had shared, of her laughter, of the way she had once looked at him.
How had it come to this?
Hades wiped the tear from his face, knowing he couldn’t let anyone find out. If they did, it would mean legal trouble, prison... worse.
His hands shook as he stood up, his expression hardening once more.
He called for his guards.
They entered, their eyes briefly widening at the sight of Sophia’s lifeless body on the floor.
They quickly masked their shock, awaiting orders.
"Wrap her in plastic," Hades said, his voice cold and detached. "Dump her in the woods."
The guards obeyed without question.
They wrapped Sophia’s body in a plastic sheet and carried her out to a waiting car.
The drive to the woods was silent, and as soon as they reached their destination, they dumped her body in a secluded spot, hidden among the trees.
They left without looking back, the car speeding off into the night.
As the car disappeared, a figure moved out from the shadows.
The man had been watching, silently waiting.
He moved toward the plastic sheet, shining a torchlight on it.
Carefully, he unwrapped it, revealing Sophia’s pale face beneath.
He dialed a number on his phone, his fingers shaking slightly as he waited for the call to connect.
When it did, he spoke quietly, "Ms. Aurora... she’s with me."
