Chapter 99: Chapter 94: You Are the Real Pervert_2
Liao Juan didn’t speak because she noticed that Jiang Nian and Li Hua were silent. Thinking there might be a conflict between the boys, she wasn’t the type to mediate.
So she simply chose not to speak and left it to Chen Yunyun.
Chen Yunyun felt incredibly awkward. Conversations were going well on her side. In the darkness, with expressions masked by dim light, topics were bolder than usual.
As soon as Sun Zhicheng arrived, the other three fell silent.
She cringed internally, but then thought about how Sun Zhicheng didn’t do it on purpose. He approached with good intentions, being in the same group, it’s not right to hold it against him.
So she had to muster up the courage to talk, ending the conversation hastily.
After Sun Zhicheng left, there was a few seconds of silence, then Jiang Nian suddenly spoke, breaking the quiet.
"Where were we?"
"I know, it was about Yunmu Town..." Li Hua turned his head, smiling at Liao Juan, "Why don’t you tell us too, it’s just a bet and won’t be spread."
Liao Juan blushed a little, could she even talk about this? It’s like treating it as a commodity. Although dowries in Zhen Nan are indeed expensive, each family regards it as a well-guarded secret.
"Two hundred and sixty thousand," Chen Yunyun suddenly said.
"Ah!" Li Hua was a bit hopeless and turned his head to look at Liao Juan.
After hesitating for a moment, Liao Juan reported an even higher number.
Li Hua knelt, in front of the two girls. He adopted a half-kneeling pose in the void, bowing to Jiang Nian in humiliation, loudly saying.
"Father, I have lost!"
"Hahaha, no need for formalities, remember to bring a bottle of Jiao tomorrow." Jiang Nian said triumphantly, "Being born in Zhen Nan, I’ve already lost half the battle, and yet, I still lost a bet?"
Chen Yunyun and Liao Juan exchanged glances, their expressions were a bit strained with complex looks in their eyes.
Are all boys... this childish?
"Let’s go, let’s go back to the classroom, the homeroom teacher is likely coming soon." Liao Juan urged, pulling Chen Yunyun away, "It looks like it’s going to rain."
Chen Yunyun struggled a little, she wasn’t done talking. Not that she had any special thoughts, just found Jiang Nian interesting, and chatting with him was fun.
"If it rains soon, they might dismiss us early." Jiang Nian also headed out, turning to ask Li Hua, "Hua, did you bring an umbrella?"
Li Hua felt a warmth in his heart, "Yes, don’t worry."
"Good, if it rains, can I borrow it?"
"You son of a...!" Li Hua suddenly lost his composure, lightly kicked Jiang Nian, "Go to hell!"
"Haha, I’m going to the restroom." Jiang Nian headed that way and turned back to extend an invite to his good buddy, "Hua, coming?"
"No, no." Li Hua walked along the corridor towards the classroom.
Chen Yunyun and Liao Juan walked slowly behind, halfway through, Chen Yunyun suddenly leaned over to say something to Liao Juan and then turned towards the restroom.
At the end of the corridor, in the darkness, Chen Yunyun waited outside the restroom.
She planned to give Jiang Nian a surprise, starting to anticipate what he might say. Even she didn’t realize, the anticipation was slowly consuming her.
Jiang Nian came out after relieving himself, looked up and suddenly saw Chen Yunyun standing far away. First, he was stunned, then smiled, and turned to wash his face.
While flicking water, he asked, "Gal, there’s a power outage now, don’t scare me like that."
"Aren’t you afraid? What if I’m really Apiao?" She leaned against the wall, hands behind her back, teasing in the dark, "Chen Yunyun already went back to the classroom."
Jiang Nian walked towards her, reaching out to pinch her cheek.
"I’ll just check if you’re warm."
Chen Yunyun watched his handsome hand reach out, grinning as she tilted her head to dodge.
"Did I scare you?"
"Yes, yes, I was scared." Jiang Nian turned, walking towards the classroom while rubbing his wetted forehead, "Let’s head back."
"Hehe, nonsense, you’re not scared at all." Chen Yunyun followed with light steps, her lips curving up, her tone involuntarily sweetening.
Their figures faded into the distance, only faint voices remained.
"Real Apiao’s feet don’t have a smell; dare you take off your shoes?"
"Wow, you’re the real freak."
"Thanks for the compliment."
"Who complimented you~"
...
Returning to her seat, Chen Yunyun’s smile hadn’t faded.
Jiang Nian was too interesting, even more so than all the other boys she had met.
A thought suddenly crossed her mind, it’s a shame their seats were so far apart. Otherwise, classes and breaks would definitely be fun and not boring.
Sun Zhicheng felt a bit uncomfortable, he’d been watching the classroom door. Only Li Hua and Liao Juan came back, but Jiang Nian and Chen Yunyun were nowhere to be found.
But he didn’t dare look, afraid of facing the same awkward situation from before. Trying to be optimistic, what if they ran into other classmates and were still chatting?
Anxiously waiting for so long, time seemed to stretch interminably.
When Chen Yunyun walked through the door, even with only a few small desk lamps dimly lighting the classroom, Sun Zhicheng noticed her immediately, his heart recognizing her first.
Chen Yunyun seemed not to notice him; the prepared eye contact was lost.
Honestly, it was a little disappointing.
Fortunately, Chen Yunyun didn’t seem to have intentions of finding Jiang Nian; she started chatting with Wang Yuhe as soon as she returned to her seat, seemingly discussing going back to the dormitory.
Sun Zhicheng couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, glad that things were at least back on track.
He took out his phone, opened the chat with Lin Dong. On Lin Dong’s message "Ah Cheng, give up...", he lingered for a while, fists clenched unconsciously.
His grades weren’t bad, no worries about getting into a good university. His family’s conditions were excellent, surpassing Jiang Nian in every way except slightly in physicality.
What was he inferior in?
Soon, the homeroom teacher Lao Liu arrived late. Seeing the chaotic class with students chatting all around, he was speechless, but too lazy to manage.
"Here’s the notice, due to power maintenance, the school has decided to dismiss early."
As soon as he finished the announcement.
The class burst into cheers, and across the corridor, the arts class started singing. The girls’ voices wafted through the hall, faintly reaching the Olympic competition science class four.
"Oh!! Damn! Dismissal!"
Some stood up, some slapped the desks, and most had already begun packing their bags.
"Quiet!" Lao Liu forcefully calmed the room, shining the flashlight of his phone around the class, "I’ll see who slapped the desk, you’ll just stay with me in the office and leave after the final class of the evening."
The statement was undoubtedly effective, as silence gradually returned to the class.
Lao Liu paused, then continued.
"Tonight, there might be a heavy rainstorm, well, weather forecasts aren’t always accurate. Everything should be based on actual conditions, and don’t linger on the way home."
"Ah, go home early to avoid getting wet. Also, tomorrow’s morning reading, if the rain is too heavy, day students may be excused, take note."
"Residents aren’t allowed to skip the morning reading, only some day students living farther away may be excused, those living closer cannot."
The class erupted in laughter, many started calling out their home locations.
Jiang Nian propped his head on his hand, watching Lao Liu on the platform, unable to help but smile, then turned to his deskmate Zhang Ningzhi.
"Aren’t you gonna ask if Nanjiang Bay can have a leave?"
Zhang Ningzhi shook her head vigorously, "My dad will drive me."
"The bigger the storm, the more you should ask for a leave." Jiang Nian said, "If I were you, I’d definitely just sleep in at home instead of coming for the morning reading."
Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi curiously asked.
"Then if there’s a storm tomorrow, will you ask for a leave?"
"No." Jiang Nian shook his head.
"Why?" she asked curiously, "Because you’re studious?"
"Ah, kind of." Jiang Nian looked at her, half-jokingly said, "From the school gate to the senior three building, even with an umbrella, you’ll get a bit wet."
"I’ll help you, uh... no, let me help you wipe it off."
"Oh oh, thank you." Zhang Ningzhi was a bit confused.
"Hahaha, what are you thanking me for?"
On the platform, with Lao Liu’s command, the class was bustling as everyone packed up their things to leave.
Jiang Nian grabbed his bag and headed downstairs to find Xu Qianqian, to see if anything interesting happened in their class during the power outage. As he rushed to the stairway, a task panel popped up.
