Chapter 98: Chapter 94: You Are the Real Pervert

"The power’s out?" Sun Zhicheng’s first reaction was to stand up, "Holy crap, awesome! Is it really out?"

After confirming that there was no power for three seconds, he joined the boys in the class in shouting.

Someone with a pitched voice blurted out, "I, Sun Zhicheng, like Chen Yunyun!" which immediately made him blush, hurriedly denying it loudly.

He guessed it was Lin Dong, but Lin Dong was talking to Wang Yuhe.

Hearing the commotion, Lin Dong looked back at Sun Zhicheng with a surprised expression and a smile at the corner of his mouth.

Sun Zhicheng cursed inwardly, feeling torn about whether to explain things to Chen Yunyun.

Someone had brought a small flashlight, and a few spots at the back of the classroom lit up. The scattered light couldn’t illuminate the room, and most people had left their seats to form small groups.

He glanced at Chen Yunyun’s seat, and his heart suddenly skipped a beat.

...Empty?

The classroom was dim, and he couldn’t spot Chen Yunyun anywhere. He felt a shiver inside and reluctantly glanced toward the front corner where Jiang Nian sat.

Thank goodness, only Yao Beibei, Zhang Ningzhi, and a few other girls were chatting there.

Oh... he missed Zeng You, who had his head covered with his school uniform, either playing on his phone or asleep. Jiang Nian was nowhere to be found, much to Sun Zhicheng’s relief.

Probably stepped out of the classroom, went to the hallway.

Thinking of this, Sun Zhicheng got up to leave but couldn’t resist glancing back at Lin Dong. He was unclear about the message from the afternoon, utterly puzzled.

Don’t compete with Jiang Nian, what definite news did Lin Dong get?

Feeling anxious, Sun Zhicheng walked out the back door of the classroom. Passing by Dong Wensong’s seat, he vaguely heard Brother B complaining about how noisy it was around, affecting his studies.

"What the heck, I was just about to finish the last question on the math test, and the power goes out now! Gosh, I’m so fed up! How can anyone work with all this noise."

"Disciplinary officer, where’s the class monitor, not gonna take care of this?"

Sun Zhicheng cursed quietly, snow mud horse, dirty dog.

The hallway was even darker, with a few couples hiding behind pillars kissing under clothes. A few familiar people from the next class stood in the hallway, boys and girls gathering together for a chat.

For reasons unknown, perhaps due to midweek tests or because the class teacher was in a meeting in the office building, class teachers were nowhere to be seen.

The senior year building was in chaos, the cacophony making him slightly dizzy. Looking around, he didn’t see Jiang Nian or Chen Yunyun.

An inexplicable sense of crisis washed over him, making Sun Zhicheng anxious. It was like a thin thread was expanding from his chest, sourly reaching his crown.

Stumbling in the dark, he kept moving forward, heart pounding.

Today was unusually stuffy, it might rain, and the power outage could be for maintenance.

Ahead was the end of the hallway, the restroom on the right. The stairs were on the left. But on the fourth-floor corner was a large open space with a floor-to-ceiling window.

During breaks, lots of boys gathered there to chat and mess around, spacious enough to dribble a ball past someone. Plenty of lively girls also stood there to play and chat.

Could they be there? The two of them?

Just thinking about it made Sun Zhicheng uncomfortable, as if his heart was punched hard, painfully sour. Nervously, he dragged his stiff body there.

He already heard Chen Yunyun’s laughter.

She asked, "Really?"

"Of course it’s true, why would I lie to you..." Jiang Nian’s voice resonated vaguely. The closer to the corner, the clearer his voice became, "...is the dowry expensive?"

Bang!

Sun Zhicheng’s mind exploded like a thunderclap, the seed of pain sprouting in his chest, tearing through flesh in seconds, growing into a massive tree.

Have things progressed to this point?

He shivered, as if plunged into an ice cave, unwilling to listen any longer. Just as he was about to leave, suddenly he heard another girl’s voice besides Chen Yunyun’s.

"Jiang Nian, why are you asking about dowries in Yunmu Town? Could it be..... haha."

Li Hua’s voice cut in suddenly, "You’re overthinking it, Jiang Nian and I made a bet, trying to prove not every place in Zhen Nan is that crazy."

"Bet on what?"

"A bottle of Scream," Jiang Nian said, "and calling dad once, plus a giving-up ceremony."

"Ugh, Scream isn’t tasty."

"It’s not for drinking, don’t you think the bottle is more..." Li Hua retorted, "Enough talk, why don’t you give us the data?"

"You’re nuts, shallow guy."

"I know, I know." Sun Zhicheng stepped out of the darkness, laughing, "I know all about Yunmu Town and Liao Juan’s area, ask me, it’s fine."

"Sun Zhicheng?" Chen Yunyun looked a bit surprised, "Why are you here?"

The dark stairwell corner.

The chattering group suddenly fell silent. Jiang Nian, Li Hua, and Liao Juan all turned their gaze toward Sun Zhicheng, throwing pressure on him.

Sun Zhicheng couldn’t see their faces, suddenly felt nervous, but luckily he’d prepared an excuse.

"Bathroom break, just passing by, heard you guys talking."

"Did the teacher come?" Chen Yunyun asked.

Logically, the three should’ve spoken. On the second question, they stayed silent again, and Sun Zhicheng felt he could die from the awkwardness, the oppressive feeling hit him head-on.

"Haha, not yet, keep chatting."

"Oh, okay."

Using the bathroom as an excuse, Sun Zhicheng awkwardly left, this time actually going to the restroom.

Jiang Nian watched the whole time, he didn’t speak because he wasn’t familiar with Sun Zhicheng. If it was just chit-chat, there was no need to talk; saying something wrong would be pointless.

Li Hua was too lazy to speak; he wasn’t in that specific group with a few people, and he figured Chen Yunyun would handle it anyway, as they’re in the same group.
