Chapter 71: Midnight Flight.

The airport was poorly lit, with only the soft hum of fluorescent lights overhead breaking the silence. The usual hustle and bustle of travelers was missing, creating an eerie atmosphere. Thomas stood at the agreed meeting spot, scanning the empty terminal for the person that celled him. The clock on the wall showed 7:55 PM, just five minutes until their scheduled meeting time.

As he waited, the shadows cast by the dim lighting appeared to lengthen and darken, giving the terminal a sinister feel. Thomas felt a chill run down his spine, despite the warm summer evening. He glanced at his phone once again, seeing an unread message from the unfamiliar number: "I’m here"

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows, their footsteps echoing in the deserted terminal. Thomas’s heart raced as two burly men approached, their face hidden by a hood. With a quick nod, they motioned for Thomas to follow, leading him further into the empty airport. The night seemed to envelop them, with only the sound of their footsteps and the distant roar of a plane taking off in the background.

As they walked, the airport’s emptiness seemed to become more overwhelming, the shadows growing darker and threatening to engulf them. Thomas’s heart raced with each step, his mind filled with questions. Where were they headed? What did they want to tell him about Samson?

The burly men guided him to a plain door labeled "Authorized Personnel Only." After swiping a card, the door opened with a soft hiss. Thomas hesitated, feeling a sense of unease, but the bully men urging pushed him forward.

They entered a narrow corridor lined with pipes and ductwork, the air heavy with the scent of grease and fuel. Thomas felt queasy as the burly men led him further into the airport’s depths.

Abruptly, they emerged into a large, dimly lit hangar filled with rows of private jets, their shiny exteriors catching the faint light. Thomas’s eyes widened as the burly men directed him towards a small plane with its engines softly humming.

"Where are we going?" Thomas demanded, speaking in a hushed tone."Abd what is it that you want to tell me about Samson?"

The burly men turned towards him, their face still obscured by shadows. "To a safe place," they answered, their voice deep and rough. "Somewhere Samson can have a fresh start."

Thomas paused at the bottom of the stairs, his mind racing. Samson is here?

At that moment, Samson entered through the door with Mr. Phillip by his side.

"Dad? Samson?" Thomas called out as he rushed towards them, embracing Samson. "How did you escape from prison?"

"Save the questions for later, Thomas. We need to leave the country tonight," Mr. Phillip said urgently, guiding his sons towards the waiting private jet.

As they were about to board the plane, a figure emerged from the darkness, watching them intently. Henry, who had followed Thomas from the school, had tracked him to the airport and now observed in silence as Thomas and Samson prepared to depart.

Henry acted swiftly, charging towards the plane with determination. "You motherfuckers!" he yelled, his voice reverberating in the hangar.

The burly men turned around. "Who are you?" they demanded, reaching for their guns.

Henry tried to lunge at Samson and Thomas, but the police officers restrained him.

"Let me go! Samson won’t get away with this!" Henry shouted, struggling against the officers’ hold.

Mr. Philip gave out a smirk, his gaze fixed on Samson and Thomas. "You two can go meet your mother. I’ll join you later," he said while the twins nodded in agreement and boarded the plane.

The engines of the private jet roared to life, filling the hangar with noise. The plane began to move, gliding smoothly across the floor. Inside, Thomas and Samson felt a wave of apprehension as they prepared to depart the country.

The jet accelerated, its wheels spinning rapidly on the ground. The lights of the hangar blurred as the plane raced towards the exit. With a final surge of speed, the jet took off, retracting its wheels into the fuselage as it ascended into the night sky.

"I won’t let Samson escape. I’ll expose everything you’ve done to the world. Your son won’t evade justice," Henry declared firmly. "He must face the consequences for his actions."

The police officer scoffed, hand on their gun. "You’re just a naive child," they spat. "You’re in over your head."

Undeterred, Henry stood his ground, his eyes unwavering. "I’m not afraid of any of you," he stated firmly. "I won’t allow you to get away with this."

Mr. Philip let out a loud laugh as he approached Henry, delivering a punch to his face that knocked him to the ground, causing his nose and mouth to bleed from the force of the impact.

"How dare you show up here ?" Mr. Philip asked, his voice icy as he glared at Henry. "You’re quite foolish. You should have just minded your own business."

"You claim to be a man of honor and integrity, but you’re nothing but a shameless individual," Henry retorted, his voice filled with anger as he spat out blood. "Your tears when your son was arrested were all an act. His apologies were empty gestures."

Mr. Philip smirked in response. "You shouldn’t be so quick to judge others and I’m sure you’ve learnt that now. And my son shouldn’t be purnished because of a criminal like your friend. He got what he deserved for killing Lucas’s sister."

"Desmond didn’t kill Olivia." Henry protested, his face still covered in blood. "He loved her and was willing to take responsibility for the baby, even though he was underage."

Mr. Philip’s expression changed as he revealed, "Desmond wasn’t responsible for Olivia’s death though. But he had to take the blame as the culprit. I was surprised to see him back at school alive, but now that he’s dead, it’s all for the best."

"What?! Do you know who killed Olivia then? Who’s the bastard that killed her that made Desmond take the blame? She didn’t take an abortion pill, right? Henry asked.

You’re quite inquisitive, but it’s fine for you to know since you’ll soon be marrying your friend’s fate. Olivia was poisoned, resulting in her death. Mr. Philip disclosed with a burst of laughter.
