Chapter 69: The Unexpected Revelation
Lucas’s eyes widened as he took in the sight before him. Olive, the person he had been looking for, was standing in front of the sink, her back to him. But it wasn’t just her presence that shocked him - it was the fact that she was clearly a girl.
For a moment, Lucas forgot to breathe. He felt like he had been punched in the gut, his mind reeling with questions and emotions. How could he have not known all this time?
Olive, sensing his presence, turned around. Their eyes met, and Lucas saw a flash of fear and vulnerability in hers. She maintained eye contact with him, her heart beating faster than usual as fear gripped her.
She wanted the ground to just open and swallow her.
Lucas, I...I can explain," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucas took a step forward, his heart racing with excitement as well as confusion. "Explain what, Arthur? Why you’re a girl or maybe I’m just imagining things?"
Olive nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "I was born a girl, but I had to hide it to attend Belmont high school."
Lucas’s mind was racing. He had so many questions, but he didn’t know where to start. He took another step forward, closing the distance between them.
He felt a surge of happiness realizing he had feelings for a girl, especially someone as beautiful as Olive. He was relieved to discover he wasn’t gay. He wanted to hug Olive, but he held back, not wanting to come across as a jerk.
Olive looked up at him, their faces now close together, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Please don’t tell anyone, Lucas. This scholarship means everything to me. I don’t want to deceive anyone, but..." Her words were cut off as Lucas placed a finger on her lips, his eyes locked on hers.
The sound of students’ footsteps resounded through the hallway indicating that everyone was awake. Fear was evident in Olive’s eyes as she trembled, unsure of what she should do next.
"Come with me," Lucas said, leading Olive into a nearby bathroom. He positioned her against the wall, their faces inches apart. "We’ll wait until the others are finished showering," he whispered, and Olive nodded in agreement.
Despite Lucas’s reassurance, Olive couldn’t shake her fear. She anxiously peered through a small gap in the door, watching the naked students, their erect member dangling between their legs as they walk until Lucas covered her eyes.
"What?" Olive whispered, her eyebrows raised up in curiousity.
"You shouldn’t be looking at that," Lucas replied, his voice strained.
Olive could only swallow hard at his response before breaking off gaze with him.
An hour later, the bathroom was cleared out with no single students. Lucas cautiously checked to make sure no one was around before handing Olive his school jacket and helping her style her hair into a bun to disguise her as a boy. "Let’s go," he whispered, leading Olive out.
They made their way back to the dorm, cautiously. Olive felt a sense of relief at having avoided detection.
Upon entering the dorm, Lucas turned to Olive. "We need to have a conversation," he said in a hushed tone.
Olive nodded, her heart still racing.
Lucas let out a deep sigh, standing before Olive with his hand on his waist, his eyes fixed on her. "So, you’re a girl?" he questioned. "Of course you are."
Olive remained silent, unsure of how to respond.
"And when I confessed my feelings to you the other day, you rejected me because you knew I wasn’t in love with a guy but a girl, and that’s why you turned me down," Lucas continued, speaking rapidly as he struggled to process his thoughts.
He had numerous questions swirling in his mind that he wanted answers to.
"And you..." Lucas paused, his hand moving to his face in embarrassment. "You’ve been a girl all along, and you’ve been doing all school activities with guys. And I stayed in the same dorm with you and you’ve seen my... ?" Lucas paused as he gaze down at his member, his face flushed in embarrassment and shock.
"I’m sorry. Please forget about everything. I’m truly sorry, but can you please keep my secret? I want to graduate Belmont with everyone and go to college," Olive said with pleading eyes.
"I’ll be very crazy not to keep your secret." Lucas murmured under his breath, still maintaining gaze with Olive.
"Huh? What are you saying?" Olive asked, trying to understand Lucas’s words. "You’re speaking so softly that I can’t hear you."
"Nothing! It’s not meant for you to hear." Lucas responded as he moved closer to Olive, causing her to back up until she was against the wall, with his hands trapping her.
"Don’t try shit with me Lucas. Just because you know my secret doesn’t mean you can take advantage of me." Olive warned nervously, looking at Lucas.
Lucas then lightly tapped her on the head.
Ouch**
"How dare you hit me on the head?" Olive scowled, her eyes flashing with anger as she held her towel tightly to her chest.
"What are you thinking? You should get that idea out of your head." Lucas said with a chuckle. "I’m not a jerk who would take advantage of you, trust me."
"Then what do you want? Will you keep my secret?" Olive asked, her gaze pleading with Lucas.
"I literally came to look for you this early because I wanted to apologize to you. I know I’ve been a jerk, and I’m sorry for that. The kidnapping, the issuing of red card, the attempted assault. I’m sorry about everything. I’ve realized my mistakes and want to move on." Lucas said, his expression serious.
"I feel guilty for what happened to Samson, to Desmond, to everyone. I’m the cause of everything no doubt. If I had let go of the past, maybe Samson wouldn’t have acted out of hatred and killed Desmond. I feel like I’m responsible for Desmond’s death, even though I didn’t do it. My sister didn’t come back to me, and I should have stopped the hatred from the beginning." Lucas concluded, his expression somber.
"It’s okay, you’re not a murderer, and I forgive you. Now that you’ve realized your mistakes." Olive replied.
"Are you going to keep my gender a secret from everyone?" continued, her eyebrows raised in curiosity. Noticing Lucas not saying anything but just staring at her, she asked "What? You’re going to threaten me with my secrets?"You haven’t changed, have you? You didn’t mean the apologies, did you?"
"No, I’m not going to threaten you! I’m a changed and I mean it," Lucas replied, his voice serious.
"Then please pretend that you don’t know my real gender. Just pretend that I’m still a boy, please," Olive said, gently pushing Lucas’s arm away from the wall to escape his trap, only to be pulled back by him, causing her towel to fall from her body.
Lucas’s eyes widened as Olive’s towel dropped to the floor, revealing her naked body. He felt desire surge within him but quickly pushed it aside, remembering his promise to respect her boundaries.
"I’m sorry," Lucas said, turning away and picking up the towel to hand it back to her. "I didn’t mean to do that."
Olive took the towel, her face flushed with anger and embarrassment. "Just get out, Lucas. Leave me alone."
Lucas nodded, feeling a pang of regret. He realized he had overstepped again and that Olive needed space.
As he left the dorm, Lucas couldn’t shake the feeling that he had messed up once more. He wanted to make things right with Olive, but he didn’t know how.
Meanwhile, Olive was trying to process her emotions. She was angry and hurt, but also relieved that Lucas had stopped himself from taking advantage of her.
She soon got dressed into her school uniform and went to the school courtyard, hoping to clear her head. That’s where she saw Thomas, sitting on a bench, staring at the ground.
"Hey," Olive said, a warm smile on her lips. "You’re back. How’s Samson and Mr. Philip?"
Thomas looked up, his eyes red from crying. "What? We’re not that close, so don’t pretend like you care. I’m sure you’re very happy that Samson is arrested."
Olive walked closer to him, stood before him and heaved a heavy sigh. "Yes, we are not close, and your brother committed a crime towards me, but still I don’t ever wish him harm and even forgave him. But he killed Desmond. Your brother took a life."
"Just get the fuck away from here and leave me alone," Thomas yelled, his body tensed up in anger.
Olive then sat down on the bench beside him." The last time I checked, I’m a student of this school and I have every right to be everywhere."
Thomas couldn’t hold back his tears anymore. "Everything is my fault . If I had arrived at the pool in time before he pushed Desmond, I could have stopped him. Told him to leave Lucas with his hatred for scholarship students, but still, he refused."
"It’s not your fault, Thomas," Olive replied. "I heard that Desmond hit his head on the trophy that Lucas threw into the pool, and then Samson pushed him, causing a fatal collision and loss of blood."
"No one knew that Desmond couldn’t swim, and Lucas didn’t realize that throwing the trophy into the pool could result in someone’s death. No one expected anyone to be at the swimming pool since all the competitions were held in the arena. So, it’s not your fault, Thomas. It’s nobody’s fault," Olive concluded with a somber expression.
"The police said Samson will be charged in court on Monday. He may encounter a lenient judge who will show mercy, or he may face severe consequences. Since it was unintentional, he might receive a lighter punishment, but it ultimately depends on the judge," Thomas said, weeping bitterly.
Ping!
Thomas phone soon rang and he picked the call and placed the phone on his ear.
"Meet me at the airport at exactly 8:00pm tonight," The unknown caller said over tgr phone. A voice Thomas recognized immediately.
