Chapter 67: The Truth Hurts.

As the handcuffs clicked shut around Samson’s wrists, the group of friends stood in shocked silence. Thomas’s eyes filled with tears, and he moved forward, but Officer Johnson stopped him with a raised hand.

"I’m sorry, you can’t interfere with the arrest," Officer Johnson said firmly.

Despite the warning, Thomas embraced Samson tightly as they both cried.

"I’ll be okay. Just stay out of trouble," Samson reassured with a strained smile. Thomas nodded, tears streaming down his face.

"Is this real? Am I dreaming?" Henry asked, pinching himself hard on the cheeks in disbelief.

"You knew about it, didn’t you?" Olive asked, her disappointment evident. "Your twin brother killed Desmond, and you kept it a secret. Why?" She glared at Thomas, her anger palpable.

"When did you become aware of this?" Lucas asked with a serious expression.

"The day after Desmond’s death." Thomas admitted, looking down in shame.

"Oh my god! You knew and still came with us to the pool to gather evidence against the culprit, who was actually among us the whole time." Mark exclaimed in shock.

"You bastard!" Henry shouted as he attacked Samson, landing a punch on his face before being restrained by the police.

"Let me go! This asshole killed my best friend!" Henry yelled, struggling against the police officers’ hold.

"You can’t touch Samson or you’ll be arrested as well. Let the law handle him." Officer Blackwood said firmly.

"How did you figure out that this guy was the killer?" Henry asked, still seething with anger.

"His wristwatch was discovered at the crime scene, and just so you know, the CCTV cameras in that area have been repaired. Additionally, there are voice recorders installed at every corner of the arena, capturing all conversations." Officer Blackwood disclosed, sending waves of shock down the spines of every students present.

Samson could only weep more as his heart ached deeply upon seeing Mr. Philip approaching the police officers.

"What’s going on here, officers? Why have you handcuffed my son?" Mr. Philip inquired, his eyebrows raised in anticipation of an answer.

"Your son is being arrested for the murder of Desmond. He will face the consequences of his actions," Officer Johnson stated firmly.

"That’s impossible. My son would never commit such a crime. You must be mistaken, officers," Mr. Philip defended, standing in front of Samson to shield him from being taken away.

"You don’t know your son well, Mr. Philip. He has a history of criminal behavior. First, he orchestrated an attack on Arthur by individuals from the adult film industry but his plan failed, and now he has taken Desmond’s life," Henry interjected with a smirk, his eyes red and fists clenched. "Your son is a criminal!"

"Stop it!" Mr. Philip shouted, his body tense as he turned to face Samson. "Tell me he’s lying. You didn’t do any of this. It’s all a misunderstanding, right?"

Samson could only hang his head in shame, tears streaming down his face. He couldn’t bring himself to speak to his father, and his silence spoke volumes as Mr. Philip’s expression fell when Samson remained silent.

His silence confirmed his involvement in

the crimes he was accused of.

"Time to take him to the station. If you have any further questions, feel free to come to the station," Officer Blackwood stated.

The officers escorted Samson away, his friends observing as he was driven off in the police car. The distant hum of the engine left a somber atmosphere behind.

Mr. Philip and Thomas also climbed into a Honda jeep pilot and trailed the police car out of the school premises.

The group of students lingered for a moment, uncertain of their next move. Then, Olive spoke softly, "I still can’t believe this is happening."

Henry smirked, "He brought this upon himself. He’s been causing trouble since he arrived at this school."

"I can’t believe I’ve been friends with a criminal all this time," Aiden muttered quietly.

"Well, it’s all over now. I’m sure Desmond is at peace now," Mark said, placing a comforting hand on Lucas and Aiden’s shoulders.

"We should go back inside the school now," Mark suggested, and they all agreed, heading back into the school building. Olive and Henry went to the library, while Mark, Lucas, and Aiden made their way to the 3RM.

Henry was still struggling to contain the anger bubbling inside him. Even with a book in front of him, he found it hard to focus.

"What’s wrong? You’re not going to mope around all day, are you?" Olive asked, raising an eyebrow.

Henry let out a frustrated sigh and closed his book. "I can’t believe what Samson did. That bastard killed my best friend."

Olive nodded in understanding. "I know, it’s a lot to take in. But we have to stay strong."

Henry scowled. "It’s not easy for me. I was closer to Desmond than anyone."

Olive’s expression softened. "I get it, Henry. But we have to be strong together. We can’t let this tear us apart."

Henry turned away, still seething with anger. "Fine."

Olive reached out and touched his arm gently. "I’m here for you, okay? We’ll get through this together."

Henry nodded, feeling a bit calmer. "Thanks, Olive."

They sat in silence, the weight of the situation hanging heavy in the air. Despite his lingering anger, Henry knew he had Olive’s support, and that gave him some comfort as they faced the challenges ahead.

Meanwhile, in the 3RM, Mark, Lucas, and Aiden were processing the recent events.

"Ican’t believe Samson’s actions," Lucas said, shaking his head.

Mark agreed, "It’s hard to accept. We thought we knew him, but clearly, we didn’t."

Aiden expressed his concern, "I feel sorry for Thomas and Mr Philip ."

Lucas acknowledged, "We need to support them through this. It’s going to be tough for them. And besides, I owe Arthur an apology."

Mark was surprised, "What do you mean?"

Lucas clarified, "I need to apologize for the kidnapping and attempted assault. If I hadn’t held a grudge against scholarship students and stopped the red card distribution, Samson might not have resorted to such extreme actions. He did it because of me."

This revelation left Mark and Aiden in disbelief as they exchanged incredulous looks.

"I feel responsible for Desmond’s death, not Samson. His passing doesn’t bring my sister back, but it hurts even more knowing what Desmond endured in prison. I feel like I played a part in his death. I feel like a murderer too. Lucas said, tears streaming down his cheeks.
