"Yes, Arthur? How can I assist you? Mr. Philip inquired, his eyebrows raised in anticipation of a response.

"May I please have a different teammate?" She asked. "Lucas and I can’t work together as teammates anymore."

Lucas could only sit and watch, a smirk appearing on his face and his hands crossed over his chest.

"And why is that?" Mr. Philip inquired. " You two have been teammates since the beginning of the term, in the debate, and even in rugby."

"I understand, but I don’t get along with my teammate and I don’t want to work with him in the chemistry practical." Olive replied.

"That’s not permissible. If I allow that, then everyone in this class will start requesting to change their teammates." Mr. Philip explained, his eyes fixed on Olive.

"But...,"

"No excuses. Please take a seat as I have no time to waste." Mr. Philip interjected, cutting Olive off.

She thought to herself, disappointed that she was still stuck with Lucas for the chemistry practical after hoping she would be free after the debate and rugby competitions.

The rest of the students were grouped with their teammates, and the grouping process was completed.

"Let me make this clear. Your teammate will remain your teammate until you graduate from this school. You do not have the authority to switch teammates." Mr. Philip stated firmly.

Olive expressed her frustration by resting her head on the table and stomping her feet on the floor like a child throwing a tantrum."I hate you now, Mr. Philip," she murmured under her breath.

The chemistry class was lengthy, with students taking notes and saving practicals for another day. After class, students hurried out of the laboratory and headed to the school cafeteria for lunch.

Olive and Henry exited the laboratory together and stopped at their lockers to keep their books.

"I’m going to be stuck with that guy for the entire school year," Olive complained as she arranged her books.

"It’s okay, just try not to talk to him," Henry suggested, engrossed in his phone game.

"That’s not possible. We have to work together, do research together to score well in practicals," Olive sighed. "Lucas is like a demon sent to torment me in this school. No matter how hard I try to avoid him, I always end up with him."

"It’s fine buddy! I just want to caution you to be careful. Avoid going to parties, refrain from drinking or eating with them. Focus on your school work." Henry advised, his eyes still glued to his phone screen as he continued to defeat the zombies in his game.

"Got it! I’ll stick to school work only." Olive affirmed, a smile now playing on her lips.

"Hey Arthur! Can we chat for a bit?" Mark approached Olive, who averted her gaze. "You know you can always confide in me."

"I thought I could, but I’ve changed my mind. I want nothing to do with any of you anymore." Olive replied bluntly.

" Why? Are you cutting ties with me too because of Lucas? I don’t know what happened between you two, but you can talk to me about it." Mark inquired.

"You’re all so good at pretending. Keep up the act, but I’ve seen through it now, so leave me alone." Olive snapped, her voice filled with anger, leaving Mark looking bewildered.

Mark reached out to grab Olive’s hand, attempting to lead her away.

"Let go of me!" Olive shouted, pulling her arm away. "Stay away from me."

"Okay, fine! I’m sorry about that." Mark apologized, turning to leave when he noticed a guy entering the school building.

"Damn! Look who’s here..."

"How dare he come back to this school..."

" Does he have a death wish? He’s so shameless to show his face here..."

The students in the hallway began to gossip with anger evident in their voices and expressions as they noticed the mysterious guy.

"What’s happening? Why all the hostility?" Olive inquired, while Henry, who had also stopped what he was doing to watch the scene unfold, kept his eyes on the newcomer.

"Is he out of his mind? How dare he show up here?" Henry muttered quietly. "This is trouble."

"What do you mean?" Olive pressed, focused on Henry who didn’t reply. She then shifted her gaze to Mark. " What’s going on?"

"Lucas shouldn’t see this guy. Find him, make amends, and keep him away from that guy," Mark instructed urgently. "Go to my hiding spot, I’ll come get you later."

"Why? Can you please explain?" Olive probed, her curiosity piqued.

"I’ll tell you everything later. I’m a calm person but Lucas isn’t. If he sees that guy, things could escalate quickly," Mark explained, his eyes fixed on the mysterious man heading towards the principal’s office.

He never changed before though? You rich kids are full of pretending. Olive thought to herself but decided to push the thought aside and went to look for Lucas.

"Alright! I’ll go look for him." She said before leaving the hallway.

Fortunately, she found Lucas, Samson, and Thomas alone in the laboratory, and she approached Lucas immediately.

"What’s wrong this time? Are you willing to talk to me now?" Lucas asked, looking up from the book he was reading.

Olive took his hand and said, "Follow me." Lucas complied, following her without hesitation.

Sakson and Thomas could only stare as the two exited the classroom.

Lucas and Olive soon reached Mark’s hiding spot and sat down together on the chairs there. An awkward silence filled the air as Olive hesitated to speak, and Lucas waited for her to say something.

After several minutes of silence, Lucas finally spoke up, "Why did you bring me here? You’ve been avoiding me since yesterday, and now we’re on the school rooftop."

"It’s nothing." Olive said as she rolled her eyes.

"Nothing?" Lucas asked but got no response. "I’ll just go away then?" He added about to stand up from the chair but was stopped by Olive.

Olive thought to herself that she should tell him about knowing his plans with the twins to keep him from leaving until Mark arrives. She took a deep breath and said, "I know about your plans. Don’t even try to deny it."
