Chapter 35: Shadowy Truth
The night was dark and stormy, providing the perfect cover for their secret mission. Austin, Mark, Olive, Aiden, and Lara gathered in Austin’s room, their faces illuminated only by the faint glow of their phones.
"Remember, we have to be quick and quiet," Austin whispered, scanning the group. "We don’t know what we’ll encounter, so we need to stay alert."
Mark nodded, his hand on the doorknob. "Let’s go."
They left the house, careful to avoid the sleeping parents and guards. The night air was cool and damp, carrying the scent of blooming flowers. Despite the peaceful surroundings, the group was tense, their hearts pounding with excitement.
Instead of using the gate, they decided to jump the fence. Austin led them to the back of the house, where they all successfully cleared the fence and made their way out of the compound and onto the quiet street.
The Robert mansion was close to Adam’s mansion, so the teenagers decided to walk on foot instead of using a car to avoid drawing attention to their plan.
As they neared the crime scene, Olive felt a chill run down her spine. "What if we get caught?" she whispered.
"We won’t," Austin reassured her, his voice calm. "We’ve got this."
Austin guided them to the back of the Adams family mansion, where they climbed over the fence and entered the house through the backdoor to avoid the security cameras.
Inside the dark house, a creaking floorboard made them freeze. They held their breath, listening for any signs of movement, but the silence was overwhelming.
"Let’s keep moving," Mark whispered, his eyes fixed on the stairs.
They crept up the stairs, their flashlights casting eerie shadows on the walls. The tension was palpable, their hearts racing.
Suddenly, a faint noise emanated from the room ahead. They exchanged nervous glances, readying their weapons which was iron rods for whatever lay ahead.
"What was that?" Lara whispered.
"Let’s investigate," Austin replied in a hushed tone.
They cautiously advanced, alert to the growing noise of rustling.
In a partially open room, a woman in a black gown was engaged in conversation with an unseen person, her back to the door preventing the teenagers from seeing the other party’s face.
Mark, Olive, Austin, Aiden, and Lara had turned off their flashlights upon hearing the sound. They crept closer to the room, taking cover behind a pillar of the mansion as they listened in on the conversation.
"You keep avoiding me. Always making excuses," the woman’s voice, recognized by everyone except Lara, accused.
"Principal Aimme?" Olive whispered, joining the others in eavesdropping.
"If I hadn’t threatened to reveal my pregnancy to your wife, would you even be here? What kind of father do you want to be to our child?"
"I instructed you to terminate the pregnancy. I am a married man and cannot have a child out of wedlock. It could damage my reputation and career, especially since my wife’s family owns all the property I manage.
"Mr. Robert?" Austin asked, his voice barely audible as he recognized the voice. "Am I hearing things tonight?"
"You have the audacity to ask me to abort this baby after just losing a child?" Miss Aimee retorted.
"Yes, I lost a child and I am not prepared to have another one. And even if I were, it wouldn’t be with you," Mr. Robert replied.
"Well, I am here to inform you that I am keeping this baby and there is nothing you can do about it," Miss Aimee stated firmly.
Meanwhile, Austin discreetly recorded the conversation between Miss Aimee and Mr. Robert on his phone.
"You know what I am capable of if you continue with this pregnancy," Mr. Robert threatened.
"And you know what I am capable of as well, Robert. The world will be shocked to learn about our affair. I may lose my career, but you will lose everything," Miss Aimee warned.
Mr. Robert, enraged, pushed Miss Aimee to the floor and demanded that she get rid of the pregnancy or face the consequences before storming out of the room, prompting the five teenagers to hide.
"I never would have guessed they were in
a relationship," Olive remarked.
"Yes, they are dating, but we still don’t know who killed Samuel," Mark added quietly.
After Mr. Robert left, Miss Aimee stood up, dialed a number on her phone, and made a call.
"Hello! I need you to take care of the mother of the child you recently dealt with. I will provide you with the necessary information later tonight, along with your payment. Please ensure that the job is done cleanly." Miss Aimee conveyed this message to an unidentified individual over the phone before ending the call.
"Perhaps if I eliminate his wife, Robert will have no option but to marry me." Miss Aimee murmured to herself with a determined look on her face. "Samuel darling, your mother will be visiting you soon to keep you company."
The five teenagers exchanged shocked glances upon hearing the news.
"Is this real?" Olive questioned, struggling to comprehend the information. "Miss Aimee killed Samuel?"
"Let’s leave immediately. This woman is dangerous, and if she catches us, we’re in trouble," Austin urgently suggested as he quietly led the group out of the mansion.

As they fled the mansion, they were in disbelief at what they had just heard. "Miss Aimee killed Samuel?" Olive repeated, her voice trembling.
"We should go to the police," Mark urged urgently.
"But it’s too late now. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow," Austin suggested, and the others agreed.
The teenagers soon returned to Austin’s house and gathered in his room, still reeling from the shocking news.
"Why would she kill Samuel?" Lara asked, her voice barely above a whisper but audible to everyone in the room.
"It’s possible that Samuel discovered something about her pregnancy and threatened to expose her," Aiden speculated, his expression grave.
"But Samuel wouldn’t risk ruining his father’s career by revealing such a secret," Austin pointed out, looking puzzled.
"There must be another reason behind his murder," Austin insisted.
"What could that reason be? I can’t think of anything," Aiden admitted, staring at Austin for answers.
"I don’t know yet, but I believe there are more secrets to uncover. We need to take this evidence to the police and see what else comes to light," Austin declared, his tone serious, causing the others to gulp nervously.
"That woman is pure evil, despite her facade of kindness. And Mr. Robert, I always knew he was irresponsible," Mark seethed with anger.
"I never would have imagined Miss Aimee capable of such a heinous act. I trusted her at school," Olive lamented.
"People can be truly dangerous. I can’t wait to go to the police station tomorrow," Mark sighed heavily.
Suddenly, the door to Austin’s room burst open, and Mr. Robert entered, startling the teenagers.
"Why do you need to go to the police station?" he demanded, his voice chillingly calm.
