Chapter 29: Questioning Feelings
Olive, Peter, and Mr. Williams were taken aback by Mrs. Williams’ question, which brought a heavy silence to the room.
"Mom!!!" Olive exclaimed, breaking the tense silence. Her eyes widened in disbelief. "How could you say that?"
"Why can’t I say that?" Mrs. Williams retorted, her expression turning angry. "Did you sleep with him or not? You’re not a child, so I know you understand what I’m asking."
Mr. Williams quickly covered Peter’s ears, shielding him from the conversation between his wife and daughter.
"Why would you even think that?" Olive responded, her voice filled with frustration. "I don’t even like Lucas, it’s you who likes him. And even if I did, there’s no way I would do that with him."
"Are you sure? Mrs. Williams asked, her eyes fixed on Olive. "Can you explain why you’re wearing his sweater?"
" My sweater got stained with juice. A maid accidentally spilled some juice on me, so I had to wear Lucas’s sweater." Olive replied with a frustrated expression.
"Oh, I understand now." Mrs. Williams said with a light chuckle. "You know I like Lucas, but I’m not suggesting anything inappropriate, right? You both are still young for that, you should focus more on your education instead."
" I’m not like that, Mom. I can’t believe you would think that of me." Olive said as she walked towards her room with anger boiling within her.
"I’m just looking out for you, honey. You know I care about you." Mrs. Williams’ voice followed Olive entered her room and closed the door behind her.
"You shouldn’t have said that to her. You know Olive wouldn’t do anything like that." Mr. Williams said as soon as Olive entered her room.
"I’m just trying to protect her. It’s not that I don’t trust her, but teenagers can be unpredictable." Mrs. Williams explained. " We need to guide them as this stage, advice them."
"My daughter isn’t that kind of girl and you know that," Mr. Williams said with seriousness laced in his tone before settling down on the sofa and reading his newspaper once more.
Olive, still at her door with her back against it, could hear her parents’ conversation. She sighed heavily, feeling frustrated that they were talking about her, and then made her way to her bed.
She laid on her bed, with her face facing the ceiling as she heaved continuously with a sad expression.
"I almost kissed him, Olive thought to herself, replaying the moment when her lips nearly touched Lucas’s. Does Lucas like boys? He can’t have feelings for me, right? That’s impossible.
Am I starting to develop feelings for him? Like seriously? Olive pondered, bit soon gave herself a firm slap. No, that can’t be. Why would I fall for him instead of the calm and collected Mark? I need to calm down and stop overthinking. But I almost kissed him, she muttered as she threw a tantrum on her bed.
Knock knock knock.
"Are you okay, darling?" Mrs. Williams’s voice came from outside Olive’s room, prompting Olive to sit up quickly, not wanting her mother to come in and start asking questions about her behavior.
"I’m fine, Mom. Just working on some school stuff," Olive replied, trying to sound composed.
"Okay darling!" Mrs. Williams replied, and soon Olive heard her footsteps receding, causing her to breathe a sigh of relief.
Ping!
Olive looked at her phone and saw a message from Austin about his one-year anniversary with Samuel.
"Ugh! Why did he have to choose tomorrow? I haven’t even told my parents yet," Olive exclaimed with a loud groan before getting out of bed and heading out of the room.

Meanwhile, Lucas was lost in thought in his room. He soon turned on his system and searched for information on how to determine one’s sexual orientation. "Am I bisexual?
" Does that mean I love boys and girls," Lucas muttered to himself, eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he processed the information he found. "That explains my almost-kiss with Arthur."
"I am bisexual?" he groaned. "But I can’t be sure yet since the kisses were accidental." As he contemplated his feelings, Lucas questioned if he might have feelings for Olive.
"There’s no way I could like him," he thought to himself.
Bang!
Suddenly, the door to Lucas’s room burst open, revealing Mark and Aiden, causing Lucas to quickly shut off his system.
"Hey man! Aiden greeted as he shook hands with Lucas before sitting down on the bed next to him.
"Hey! Mark also greeted with a smile and sat on the other side of the bed next to Lucas. "What’s up? You look a bit down."
"I’m good, just dealing with some school work." Lucas replied as he forced out a smile.
"Or you’re down because you’re grounded at home." Aiden said with a laugh, causing Mark to chuckle as well. "Anyway, have you seen the invitation from Austin for his one-year anniversary with his boyfriend?"
" Oh, I haven’t seen it, but there’s no point since I won’t be able to go. My mom won’t allow it, she’s bent on frustrating the hell outta me." Lucas replied.
"Who says we can’t sneak you out?" Aiden suggested with a wink. " This isn’t the first time we’re sneaking out after all. And besides, it would be easy to sneak out as the party is a night party. We’re all going to go in Mark’s car."
"And remember that Lara girl, Arthur’s friend? I’m inviting her." Mark revealed, catching the attention of Lucas and Aiden.
"Wow, is someone catching feelings already?" Aiden joked. " But seriously, why would you be interested in someone like her? She’s clearly not from the same background as us. Are your standards dropping now Mark? You don’t date girls below your standard."
"And who said I’m dating her? I’m not dating her, just inviting her as a friend." Mark clarified, rolling his eyes.
" You and Lucas seem to have questionable taste lately. First, befriending Arthur, the scholarship student, and now bringing in another friend from a less privileged background." Aiden shook his head in disapproval.
"Let’s not talk about Arthur. We’re just partners for the upcoming competition. And have you invited Arthur?" Lucas asked, changing the subject.
"Arthur will definitely be getting an invitation. He’s friends with Austin and Samuel." Mark replied with a smile. "We should pick both of them up tomorrow."
" And who are you picking up tomorrow?" A familiar voice interrupted, causing the three teenagers to turn towards the door where Mrs. George stood.
