Chapter 175: Get Me A Strawberry Drink From The Cafeteria.
The moon hung bright and full in the night sky, casting a silver glow over the bustling city. The distant hum of car horns and the chatter of people echoed faintly, mixing with the occasional breeze that rustled the leaves.
Inside the Starlight Restaurant, Olive, Lara, Lucas, Mark, and Aiden sat back in their chairs, content but visibly tired. Hours had passed since their meal, and what began as a relaxing lunch had stretched into a lazy evening of conversation, laughter, and occasional moments of quiet reflection.
Aiden, leaning slightly into his chair, broke the silence with a warm smile. "I think it’s time we head back to school before someone discovers we’re missing."
"I really don’t feel like going anywhere tonight," Mark chimed in, his tone carrying a hint of longing. "We should just spend the night at a hotel. It’ll be more comfortable."
Lucas shook his head, letting out a heavy sigh. "We can’t do that. We’ll be late for class tomorrow, and you know we have to keep up with our studying. Let’s get out of here now, the chauffeur’s waiting outside."
"Okay, okay," Mark muttered, standing up and helping Aiden to his feet. Olive and Lara followed suit, grabbing their shopping bags from the floor. The two girls had spent part of the evening shopping at the supermarket conveniently located next to the restaurant.
"I told you two not to buy so much stuff," Lucas said, his eyebrows furrowed as he noticed their struggle to carry the multiple bags. "Now how are you going to manage all that?"
"It’s fine," Lara replied, brushing off his concern. "We needed to get everything important, for us and for you guys." Her tone carried a calm confidence that made Lucas bite back any further comment. He instead turned his focus to Aiden, ensuring the latter was steady on his feet.
Together, the group made their way out of the restaurant and climbed into the waiting Lamborghini. The luxurious car purred to life, gliding smoothly onto the busy streets lit by neon signs and streetlights.
The journey back to Belmont Academy was quiet. Exhaustion had settled over the group, and the only sound was the hum of the car engine as the city lights blurred past. Each of them silently hoped to be back at school soon to finally relax.
An hour later, the Lamborghini pulled up in front of the imposing school gates. The friends stepped out cautiously, opting to avoid the main entrance to escape detection by security guards. Instead, they made their way to the back of the school building, where they carefully climbed over the fence.
The chauffeur drove away discreetly as the group hurried through the shadows, avoiding patrolling guards. They finally made it to the 3RM Special Room. Without wasting time, they each found a bed or sofa to crash on, and soon, the room was filled with the sounds of deep, peaceful sleep.
______________
The Next Morning
The sun rose over Belmont Academy, marking the start of a new day. Students were already seated in their classrooms, dutifully poring over textbooks after the morning assembly. The intense revision period had begun again, and it was clear from the weary expressions of many students that they were fed up with the constant study sessions.
But none dared complain, especially under the sharp gaze of Mr. James, their no-nonsense instructor who stood at the front of the class, observing them like a hawk.
"Has it been two hours already?" Olive muttered under her breath, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. Her legs felt stiff, and her buttocks ached from sitting for so long. "Are we not going to have a break today? I really need to stretch."
"Mr. James won’t let us go anywhere," Lucas whispered back with a sigh. His eyes were strained from staring at his textbook for too long. "He hasn’t even allowed us to use the bathroom."
Before Olive could respond, her phone chimed softly in her lap. Curious, she discreetly opened the message, her heart skipping a beat as she read its contents.
It was from an unknown number.
The message contained a video of her and Lucas in the bathroom together. Below the video was a chilling text:
If you know what’s best for you, don’t bother showing this to Lucas. He won’t be able to save you when I decide to post it.
Panic seized Olive as she stared at the screen, her hands trembling slightly. Lucas, noticing her pale face, leaned closer.
"What’s wrong?" he asked, his tone laced with concern.
"Nothing!" Olive replied quickly, forcing a smile. She turned her phone face down on the desk, trying to appear calm. Lucas gave her a skeptical look but didn’t press further, returning to his reading.
Inside, Olive was spiraling. This is my last year at Belmont. If this video gets out, I’ll be expelled for sure. And my scholarship... The thought made her chest tighten. Her future depended on her spotless record, and now someone was threatening to ruin it all.
She quickly typed a response to the unknown number.
Who are you?
The reply came almost instantly.
You’ll find out soon.
Before she could dwell on it further, the bell rang, signaling the end of the study session. The classroom erupted into chaos as students stretched, chattered, and began filing out.
The noise was a welcome distraction, but Olive’s mind was still reeling. ’Someone saw us. But who? And why now?’
As she pondered this, Lara approached from behind. "Let’s grab something to eat," she suggested, breaking Olive’s train of thought.
Just as the group stood to leave, Annabella, sauntered up to their desk with a smug smirk plastered across her face.
"What do you want?" Lucas snapped, his voice tinged with irritation.
Annabella ignored him, her sharp gaze locking onto Olive. "Hey," she said, her tone dripping with mock sweetness. "Get me a strawberry drink from the cafeteria. And be quick, five minutes, or you’ll regret it."
