Chapter 141: Tangled Lives.

As Aiden’s phone pinged in his pocket, he pulled it out only to see a message from Louise.

I’ve received my balance. It was nice doing business with you!

His eyes remained fixed on Louise’s message for a moment before texting back:

"Good! We should meet soon to discuss. You should come to school, and we’ll meet up. Let me know when you get here so that I can receive my package."

"What’s wrong?" Olive’s voice cut through the silence, her gaze fixed on Aiden, snapping him back to reality. She and the others had been trying to get his attention for a while, but his focus had been glued to his phone.

’Just what is he doing on his phone that is so important that he doesn’t even know that we’ve been trying to get his attention since?’ Olive thought to herself, her eyebrows raised up in suspicion.

"You seem lost. You’ve been staring at your phone for minutes now. Is everything okay man?" Mark added, his voice etched with concern.

"Uh... yeah, I was just checking some articles on my phone," Aiden replied quickly, though his eyes betrayed the truth. He was lying, and everyone could sense it. Trying to divert the conversation, he asked, "So... what’s with this combination? Jessica, Anabella, Racheal, and Peace hanging out together now?" He raised an eyebrow, trying to feign casual curiosity.

"Yeah, it’s... different. But it’s cool," Jessica answered with a forced smile. "You could say I’m their counselor now. These three weren’t willing to come to class or show their faces after what Louise did, but I managed to cheer them up."

"People have been gossiping," Henry chimed in with a heavy sigh. "Their eyes were glued to us the moment we walked into the school building. Ican still feel their heavy gaze till now. It’s like they can’t get enough of it."

"There’s nothing you can do about it," Olive said gently, offering a warm smile. "People will stare and gossip, but you shouldn’t let it get to you. Everything will be fine." She directed her reassuring gaze toward Anabella, Peace, and Racheal, hoping to soothe their anxieties.

Lara, who had been silently observing, finally spoke up, her expression serious. "So, what’s the plan now? About taking down Louise? How do we go about it? From what I’ve heard, he hasn’t shown up at school since the incident."

"Yes!" Anabella chimed in, her voice etched with anger. "He’s probably hiding out at one of my dad’s mansions, waiting for the perfect moment to ruin us." Her hands tightened into fists, her knuckles turning white with frustration. "That motherfucker!"

"We need to act before he releases that video to the world," Mark said, his voice steady but filled with tension. "We’ll have to persuade him somehow. Maybe if we talk to him, he’ll see reason and delete it." He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair.

"Yeah, maybe," Anabella said with another forced smile, but her eyes told a different story. She and her group, her partners in drugs business knew that involving Mark, Lucas, Olive, and Aiden in their scheme to take down Louise with Jessica’s thugs was a bad idea. Keeping it between themselves and executing it perfectly was their best chance.

Anabella shifted her attention to Aiden, changing the subject. "So... about Lucas? Are you guys talking now?"

’He’s being a crazy jerk too.’ Olive thought to herself as she rolled her eyes away in annoyance. ’But seriously...where did he go after leaving the dorm?’

"Now that I think about it, I haven’t seen him since we got back to school. Just where is that guy?" Mark murmured under his breath with a worried expression.

Aiden let out a heavy sigh. "Nope. He doesn’t want to see me, let alone talk to me. And honestly, you should forget about him if you’re still thinking of him. You’ve got bigger issues to deal with."

Anabella looked at him, her face twisting with confusion. "And who said I was thinking about him?"

"Of course you are, especially when you’re not the one who jilted him but he did . You really think Lucas would accept you back after you slept with his friend?" Aiden’s voice grew more serious, his words sharper now.

The atmosphere shifted, tension thickening as Aiden’s behavior turned more aggressive.

"Of course I don’t expect him to take me back," Anabella shot back, her voice growing defensive. "I just.. I was just concerned, you know? I hate being the reason why you two stopped being friends. I shouldn’t have.."

"Shouldn’t have what?" Aiden interrupted, his anger rising. "You shouldn’t have taken advantage of me that night? Yeah, you knew I was drunk, but you still went through with it. You were down, and you used me to lift your mood."

Anabella’s face flushed with anger. "Taken advantage of you? You can’t call it that when we kept doing it afterward. You didn’t say no. Why are you acting like the victim now?"

"Because I didn’t say no doesn’t mean I wasn’t aware of what was happening. I knew Lucas wasn’t sleeping with you anymore. And yeah, you’re a whore, Anabella," Aiden spat out, his voice laced with venom. "I enjoyed screwing you, hearing you scream. You thought you were using me, but I was getting free sex."

Anabella shot up from her chair, enraged. "Fuck you, Aiden!" she screamed, her fists clenched at her sides. "I hope you disappear from this world! And for the record, I used you. I fucked you. I ruined your friendship with Lucas, and guess what? I won!" With that, she stormed out of the cafeteria, leaving everyone in stunned silence.

"I won, you bitch!" Aiden yelled after her, a cruel chuckle escaping his lips. "How cool would it be if your video gets released soon." He added with an outburst of laughter.

The cafeteria was now a mix of shocked expressions and nervous glances. The tension was palpable, the air heavy with the aftermath of the explosive confrontation.

"Whoa, that escalated quickly," Mark finally said, breaking the silence. "I can’t believe I had my mouth hanging open the entire time."

Olive blinked, her eyes wide. "What just happened? You two were acting so... concerned about each other at first. Anabella asked about you, about your health, and wished you a quick recovery. And then, out of nowhere, it turned into a screaming match."

Aiden’s expression was cold, his voice flat and detached. "She needed to hear the truth. We’ve both been lying to ourselves and everyone else. That concern? It was a performance. We hate each other. I don’t give a damn if her video gets leaked. She deserves everything coming to her. And Lucas is better off without her."

’Does not care whatever happens to her? She deserves everything coming to her? Aiden knows the secret between Louise and the girls?!’ Olive eyes widen open in curiousity but she chose to keep calm.

Jessica, who had been quiet up until now, spoke up, her gaze still fixed on the cafeteria’s exit where Anabella had stormed out. "Damn. The whole cafeteria heard everything you two said."

Aiden shrugged, a cruel grin tugging at his lips. "Who cares? Let them hear."

Lara shook her head, her voice steady but firm. "We can’t let personal drama distract us from Louise. What Anabella did to you was wrong in your eyes, and what you did to her was wrong in hers. The truth is, you both took advantage of each other. She used you to numb the pain of Lucas rejecting her, and you used her for..."

"Free sex and waiting for the day when Lucas breaks up with her," Olive finished, nodding. "But that’s between the two of you. Louise, on the other hand, is on a whole different level. He’s a menace. Whatever secret he’s holding over Anabella, Peace, and Racheal, it doesn’t justify what he’s doing."

Henry turned toward Racheal and Peace, his eyes narrowing. "What exactly is between you three and Louise? He’s acting like a monster, but what’s the secret that made him go after you so viciously?"

Jessica’s eyes darkened, and she threw Henry a withering look, silencing him. Her cold stare crushed any hopes the others had of hearing the full story.

’What?! Just what is between them? They’re definitely hiding something.’ Olive thought to herself, her expression alarmed as she observed Jessica action towards Henry.

"We should go check on Anabella," Peace said abruptly, standing up from her seat. Racheal and Jessica quickly followed her lead, and Henry, with a defeated sigh, rose as well.

"We’ll see you in class then," Jessica said with a strained smile before leading the way out, leaving Olive, Mark, Lara, and Aiden behind.

Once the others were gone, Olive, Mark, and Lara exchanged uneasy glances.

"What’s going on exactly?" Olive finally asked. "What secrets are Jessica, Anabella, Racheal, Peace, and even Henry hiding? I mean, their sudden alliance is suspicious, to say the least."

Mark shook his head slowly. "I have no idea, but they’re definitely keeping us in the dark. Something big is going on, and we’re not in on it."

Lara frowned, turning her attention to Aiden, who had once again buried himself in his phone. "Aiden knows more than he’s letting on. Spill it, Aiden," she urged, her tone demanding. "Do you know anything about Louise and the others?"

Aiden didn’t bother looking up, his voice feigning innocence. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

’Of course you do. It’s obvious.’ Olive thought to herself as she let out a smirk.

Ping!

Aiden glanced at his phone for what seemed like the hundredth time, a message from Louise flashing on the screen:

"Meet me outside now."

Without a word, Aiden stood up abruptly, startling the others.

"I’ll be right back," he muttered before quickly making his way out of the cafeteria, leaving Olive, Mark and Lara staring after him speechlessly.
