Chapter 134: The Weight Of Shame.
Ignoring her, Jessica continued, "I’ve created a WhatsApp group for selling the drugs. I’ve done all the legwork, found the names of students, and now everything’s set. We can start making money, and in return apart from you making money, I’ll help you delete those videos from Louise’s phone, and teach him a lesson."
Her words only seemed to irritate Racheal further, who shot her an incredulous look. Racheal’s stomach churned with dread, but a sliver of hope flickered inside her, faint and distant.
Knock... knock... knock...
Jessica and Racheal exchanged puzzled glances, the sound unexpected.
"Were you expecting someone?" Jessica raised an eyebrow, her voice a little hesitant.
"Nope!" Racheal replied as she got out of bed. "I’ll just see who it is," she added, moving toward the door with growing unease. She opened it, her breath catching in her throat as she saw Henry standing there, his expression unreadable.
"What are you doing here?" Racheal asked, her voice tinged with shock. "I already..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Henry brushed past her, ignoring her protests as he made his way into the room.
Racheal quickly closed the door and spun around to face him, her annoyance bubbling over. "What exactly do you want, Henry? Why are you here?" she demanded, planting her hands on her hips.
"Are you going to keep doing stupid things?" Henry asked with a smirk, his eyes narrowing as he stared her down. "Keep making foolish mistakes? Keeping everything to yourself?"
"What are you even talking about?" Racheal shot back, her frustration escalating. "You’re not making any sense!"
"You’re disowned by your family, and you’ve kept that a secret. Then you got involved with Michael, got pregnant with his kid, but now he’s dead. He was the one paying your school fees, and without him, you’re stuck. He abused you in every way, but you stayed with him. Now, you’re selling drugs to survive, and on top of that, Louise is back, ready to destroy whatever’s left of your life." Henry’s words came out sharp and biting, each one hitting her like a hammer.
Jessica’s eyes widened in shock. Racheal, too stunned to speak, could only stare, her thoughts spinning as her secrets unraveled before her.
"H-H-How...?" Racheal stammered, barely able to form the words. "How do you know?"
"Good. Now that you know about it, what are you going to do about it?" Jessica interjected, folding her arms, her voice laced with sarcasm. "Besides, Annabella and Peace will be joining us soon."
"What?!" Racheal’s gaze whipped toward Jessica, her eyebrows shooting up. "What are you talking about?"
"Yeah! You three are in trouble, not me. They’ll agree to join the business. They want that footage too. More partners, more profit, and we can get rid of that footage faster. It won’t just be the two of us anymore." Jessica’s smirk widened, her confidence growing.
"You’re out of your mind, Jessica! I never agreed to let Annabella and Peace in on this! They don’t even know about my family disowning me. Sure, they know about the pregnancy, but not the rest." Racheal’s voice cracked. She paused, a bitter laugh escaping her. "Now that I think about it... I slept with my stepbrother. That’s why I was disowned. If my father found out about Louise, it wouldn’t even matter anymore. He already thinks I’m trash."
"You slept with your stepbrother, but there’s no video of it. What if Louise leaks your nudes? Sure, he didn’t sleep with you, but it’s enough to ruin your future forever." Jessica’s voice was cold, calculated. "So, you’d better stick to my plan unless you want to end up regretting it."
Racheal’s face twisted in frustration, the weight of everything crushing her. She felt a wave of nausea, her legs giving way as her world tilted. Henry moved quickly, catching her by the waist before she could fall.
"How do you know all of this?" Racheal asked weakly, her voice barely a whisper as she met Henry’s gaze. "Have you been spying on me?"
"I overheard everything that day when you threw me out of your room," Henry admitted, his voice softer now, his expression filled with concern. "I heard about the pregnancy, and your plan to deal drugs."
Racheal’s eyes narrowed. "So what now? Are you going to tell everyone? Expose me? Why are you even here, Henry? To laugh at me? To mock me? Are you happy seeing me like this, pathetic and broken?"
"No. I’m here to join you." Henry’s words sent a shockwave through the room, his declaration hanging heavy in the air.
"You’ve lost your mind!" Racheal shouted, her voice rising with anger and disbelief. She stormed to the door, yanking it open. "Get out! I won’t let you ruin your life by getting involved in this mess!"
Before Henry could respond, Jessica stepped forward, her smirk still firmly in place as she gently pushed the door closed again. "Why should he leave? If Henry wants to join us, I say let him. More people means more money, and I’m not turning down new partners."
"Jessica, no! Henry can’t join us. Fine, I’ll agree to let Annabella and Peace in. They’re in as much trouble as we are, and they need to help themselves, but not Henry. He’s not getting mixed up in this." Racheal’s voice trembled with desperation as she turned to Henry. "You can’t do this."
"It’s not up to you, Racheal." Henry’s voice was firm, but there was a finality to his words. "I’ve made my decision. I’m joining, and that’s that."
"Henry, please," Racheal’s voice softened, the fight in her ebbing away as concern took over. "You’ll regret it."
But Henry wasn’t listening anymore. Racheal could only stand in silent shock as he and Jessica began talking logistics, planning how to move forward with their dangerous scheme.

Meanwhile, Lucas, Olive, Mark, and Lara were finishing lunch in the scholarship students’ cafeteria. The mood around the table was light until Mark’s phone buzzed, pulling his attention away.
Mark glanced at the screen, his face darkening as he read the message. "Lucas?" he called out, looking up at his friend. Lucas paused, a spoonful of rice halfway to his mouth.
"What is it?" Lucas asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Aiden just texted me. He’s in the hospital. His parents aren’t around, and he needs us to go see him." Mark’s voice was filled with concern.
Lucas scoffed, lowering his spoon. "And? What does that have to do with me? We’re not friends anymore."
Mark blinked in disbelief. "Come on, Lucas. I know Aiden hurt you, but he still needs help. He’s been asking for you specifically. When Lara and I visited, he wouldn’t even tell me what was wrong. He’s been waiting for you."
Lucas frowned, his eyes narrowing. "Annabella’s not my friend. Aiden is or was. Him betraying me hurt, but Annabella? I didn’t care because I never trusted her. But Aiden? I trusted him." His voice grew darker. "But he betrayed me, and now he’s no longer my friend."
Mark opened his mouth to speak, but Lucas cut him off.
"Don’t," Lucas warned. "I’m not going, and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t mention him to me again." He stood up abruptly, pushing his chair back as he left the cafeteria, leaving the others in stunned silence.
"Why is Lucas like this? Is Aiden sin that big that he can’t forgive him? This is so cruel of him to be honest" Lara said as she shakes her head in disbelief.
Mark sighed in frustration. "He’s so stubborn." He turned to Olive, his brow furrowed. "Are you coming with us to visit Aiden or not?"
"Yeah, of course I’m coming," Olive replied, standing up. "Let’s go."

Mark’s red Honda Pilot pulled into the hospital parking lot, and he, Olive, and Lara quickly made their way inside, their expression worried.
The hospital’s sterile corridors stretched out before them, the quiet hum of machinery and the scent of disinfectant filling the air. Nurses moved swiftly past, their expressions focused, the sound of their footsteps echoing down the hall.
Mark approached the front desk, asking for Aiden’s room. After receiving directions, he turned back to Olive and Lara, who were seated on a nearby bench.
"His room’s down this hall," Mark announced. Olive and Lara rose, and together they made their way to Aiden’s room.
It was a small, private room at the end of a quiet corridor, sunlight filtering through the window. The room itself was quiet, save for the beeping machines connected to Aiden’s bed.
Aiden lay still, his pale face a stark contrast to the white sheets. IV lines ran from his arms to the machines, the rhythmic beeping of his heart monitor the only sound in the room. The atmosphere felt heavy, oppressive.
Mark, Olive, and Lara hesitated for a moment, exchanging worried glances before stepping inside. As they approached the bed, the weight of their concern settled on their shoulders, their hearts sinking as they watched their friend lie motionless before them.
