The night sky was deep and ink-like, and the autumn breeze was still mild, with the dim streetlight casting a frail glow.

The moment their eyes met, Jiang An stopped in her tracks, luggage in tow.

Within just a few seconds, the tall figure briskly approached her.

Under the streetlight, Gao Chuan stood tall against the wind, his handsome face slightly weary under the illumination, his eyes fixated on her.

Jiang An returned to Jing City not solely because of Gao Chuan. After all, she had lived in this city for nearly twenty years, and her friends, connections, and work were all in Jing City. It was difficult for her to give up everything here.

Jiang An looked at him apprehensively and started criticizing, "What are you doing? Why are you here in the hospital? This place is full of patients and you bring people over, don’t disturb my work."

This was entirely her exposing her own folly.

Gao Chuan, maintaining an undisturbed demeanor, explained the reason for his visit today.

Gao Group and the private hospital where she worked had a medical equipment collaboration project. His visit was due to checking on the recuperation status of the patients, and he hadn’t expected to run into Jiang An in the hallway.

"However, it’s nice to see you," Gao Chuan said softly, his gaze still on the still confused Jiang An.

While the two were still conversing, the puzzled director approached, seeing Jiang An’s flushed face and asked, "Dr. Jiang, what’s going on?"

Why did she suddenly, inexplicably, pull away their VIP client?

Jiang An, realizing her superior had approached, immediately showed a sheepish smile and lied that she had mistaken someone else, then turned to Gao Chuan pretending to apologize, "Sir, I am really sorry for the inconvenience."

Watching her in front of him trying to disassociate herself from him, Gao Chuan’s dark eyes deepened. As Jiang An turned to leave, heedless of the people around, he grabbed her and directly asked, "What time do you get off work today?"
