Chapter 131 Honeymoon

Jiang An was only informed by the man at dinner time that they were flying to L City at three in the afternoon, leaving the girl grasping her spoon in utter shock.

Gao Chuan appeared calm as the sea, continuing to eat as he explained, "Think of it as going on our honeymoon. Don’t worry, Ms. Shen has arranged everything."

He didn’t know why, but the idea of taking Jiang An on a trip had suddenly surged in his heart. Considering the past few months since their marriage, they had either been running back and forth to Grandma Gao’s or were busy working all day, with hardly any real time to relax.

Gao Chuan, who typically isn’t good at planning trips, conveyed his intention to take Jiang An on a honeymoon to the Gao Family elders. The old couple happily agreed, especially Shen Mei, who managed to book the afternoon flight and hotel in one afternoon.

"But you’re still injured," Jiang An said with a hint of worry in her eyes as she heard the man finish talking about Shen Mei’s plans. After all, traveling back and forth with injuries was not ideal.

"It’s fine." The man uttered lightly with his thin lips, given that the two usually had little time together at the hospital and such opportunities might become even rarer in the future.

Besides, this was what he owed Jiang An, as Shen Mei would put it.

"Ah, it’s already eleven o’clock. I need to hurry and pack." Realizing time might be tight, Jiang An hastily took a few bites and then dashed into her bedroom.

Gao Chuan watched the girl’s hurried figure and smiled slightly.

He had also received the news last night and hadn’t expected Shen Mei to be so swift.

But he wasn’t in a hurry since Shen Mei’s style guaranteed that everything would be well arranged for the two of them.

After checking the weather in L City, where it’s in the Southern part and close to the sea, the temperature seemed quite moderate. Jiang An rummaged through her wardrobe and managed to pack two light outfits into her suitcase. Unlike Dr. Gao, who took everything in stride, she searched the web for travel tips and essentials for L City, taking a whole hour to get ready.

Carrying a hefty suitcase, Jiang An came out to see Gao Chuan had changed into a suit but hadn’t packed anything else. She froze, wondering if he was really planning for a trip.

"Let’s go," the man said upon seeing Jiang An come out. He naturally took the suitcase from her hand. Though puzzled, Jiang An no longer questioned and followed his tall and straight figure out the door, picking up her pace.

It’s said that after a night’s sleep, the intimacy between husband and wife grows. Now, it seemed what Xia Zi said was not without reason.

After last night, the atmosphere between them no longer felt awkward. Even though Gao Chuan was man of few words on the way to the airport, she didn’t feel as uncomfortable anymore.

When the plane landed, it was already evening. Reaching the hotel that Shen Mei mentioned, they discovered Ms. Shen certainly did not disappoint.

A presidential suite near the sea, designed specifically for VIP couples.

Entering the suite with the hotel employee made their jaws drop. The room was decorated with an alluring ambience, with red rose petals scattered from the doorway to the bed. Turning on the crystal chandelier set a romantic and lingering mood throughout the room.

Jiang An, still somewhat naïve at heart, blushed at the sight, while Gao Chuan maintained his composure and walked over with Jiang An’s suitcase.

The two planned to rest in the hotel that evening and go out the next day. Just after showering, the man received a consultation invitation from the City Hospital, forcing him to start working on his laptop.

Jiang An was organizing her things in the bedroom when she saw the vanity full of makeup and a wardrobe packed with clothes; she suddenly felt what she brought was excessive. Only by the bedside did the girl notice heart-shaped rose petals scattered on the bed, with a wine-red slip dress lying next to them.

Without any doubt, this must be Shen Mei’s doing.

In the past, she would have been too shy, but thinking that they were here on their honeymoon made such arrangements seem reasonable.

Taking the nightgown, Jiang An went into the bathroom. A large bathtub lay before her, with bathing amenities neatly arranged on the shelf, and countless rose petals piled in a basket, prompting all kinds of fanciful thoughts.

Jiang An suddenly thought of a TV scene she had seen before, where a man and a woman took a mandarin duck bath together, and she shyly moved her gaze away before finally choosing to turn on the adjacent showerhead.

After taking a shower, she listened to the man still busy working in the living room; the girl dried her hair halfway and went to the balcony alone.

This was not like the biting cold of Jing City in winter; what entered her vision was an endless sea, the cool sea breeze coming forth, lifting the girl’s flowing long hair.

The video consultation lasted for over half an hour. After closing his laptop, Gao Chuan’s mind was still echoing the case they discussed earlier. His thoughts drifted for a while before he remembered to stand up to look for Jiang An when the phone on the table rang.

He glanced at the call ID, and it was Song Li calling.

"Hello," the man’s finger slid to answer, his voice deep and magnetic.

Loud music came from Song Li’s end, asking him if he was free to come over and have fun, it was a welcome party hosted by several friends who had been close to him since childhood for Song Xin.

"No time; I’m not in Jing City," Gao Chuan replied truthfully, stretching his fingers and pinching the space between his eyebrows as he spoke.

Hearing this, Song Li asked curiously, "Where’d you go? Switzerland?"

The man leaned back on the sofa and told him that he brought Jiang An to L City for their honeymoon.

Song Li fell silent on the phone for a while, it seemed it took him several seconds to recover before he said teasingly, "Wow, so you’re putting love before friendship."

Gao Chuan, of course, ignored his sarcasm, "Have fun on your own."

Yet there was not a hint of apology in his words for missing the event.

Song Li was about to hang up when he heard Gao Chuan suddenly say, "Don’t tell Song Xin about my marriage to Jiang An for now."

"Why? She’s going to find out sooner or later," Song Li asked.

The Song Family and the Gao Family had always been close; it was only a matter of time before Song Xin would find out that Jiang An was the daughter-in-law of the Gao Family.

The man leaning on the sofa suddenly had a troubled look in his eyes; he really hadn’t cared much when he first found out that Song Xin was going to City Hospital, not until he suddenly saw her there yesterday that he thought about Jiang An.

His relationship with Jiang An was supposed to be secret, and it was best if Song Xin didn’t know upon her arrival.

However, given the relationship between the two families, it was bound to come out eventually. Gao Chuan frowned at this thought and said coldly, "We’ll talk about it when the time comes. Don’t let it slip in the hospital, it’s not good for Jiang An’s work."

Song Li listened to the man’s instructions, realizing his concern was still all for Jiang An; he paused before hanging up.

So... had their relationship finally got on the right track?

Song Li absent-mindedly put down his phone. Seeing him hang up, Song Xin hurried over, anxiously asking, "Well, brother, is Gao Chuan coming?"

Looking down at his sister’s expectant face, Song Li felt an inexplicable sourness in his heart and hesitated to tell her the truth, "He’s on a business trip, he can’t make it tonight."

Upon hearing this, a flicker of disappointment inevitably appeared in Song Xin’s eyes, and while there was still a lively party going on behind her, the girl’s mood plummeted, the disappointment practically written on her face.

If he’s not coming, what’s the point...
