Chapter 130 You Should Exercise More
The next day, as the sky began to brighten and the evening clouds gradually receded, the faint morning light slowly traced across the horizon.
In the winter days, when daylight is short and nights are long, it was almost noon by the time the tall and lean man heard the doorbell ring outside. He closed his laptop and walked to the door to receive the takeout from the delivery guy.
Carrying the heavy bag to the table, he glanced at the time displayed on his watch.
At a quarter past ten, the man frowned slightly as he made his way into the bedroom.
Gently pushing open the door, the girl on the bed was still sleeping soundly. The two of them had been up until two or three in the morning, so Jiang An might have been so exhausted that she had been asleep without opening her eyes even now.
During the night, she had held onto his arm tightly as she fell into a deep sleep. In the morning, when he got out of bed and no longer had something to hold, she had grabbed the pillow beside her.
Gao Chuan looked down at the girl’s slightly comical posture hugging the pillow on the bed and couldn’t help but remember the little bear he saw last night in Jiang An’s room. A subtle smile touched the corners of his mouth, soundlessly and gently.
She’s still like a child at heart, even at twenty-four years old.
The man, without realizing it, had already moved to the edge of the bed, bending over slightly towards the person lying flat, almost able to hear her steady breathing.
"Jiang An, wake up, time to get out of bed." The man gently patted the girl’s shoulder, his deep voice tenderly enchanting.
Jiang An felt the gentle patting on her body and suddenly scrunched up her face in her sleep, her sleepy eyes fluttering open, still looking groggy and dazed.
Her consciousness had not fully awakened, and Jiang An squinted her eyes, her vision blurring, briefly capturing the man’s cool and handsome features, feeling as if she was still in a hazy dream.
"Wake up, time to eat." Gao Chuan, seeing the struggling expression on Jiang An’s face in front of him, patiently repeated it.
However, Jiang An was not one to be easily woken up. Although she didn’t get cranky when getting up, her talent for lingering in bed was not small.
Gao Chuan leaned over and saw the girl, who was showing signs of waking up, mutter softly as if whining: "Let me sleep a little longer."
The next second, she rolled over, pillow and all, towards the other side.
Gao Chuan: "..."
The man looked at the back of Jiang An that remained in his view, suddenly feeling an overwhelming sense of helplessness, and he curved his mouth slightly in resignation.
It seemed he now had another nickname for her: Little Lazy Pig.
Jiang An’s love of sleep had its reasons. For one, because of yesterday’s activities, which had drained all her energy, and for another, the lingering consciousness reminded her that the next few days were holidays.
Holidays... Why bother getting out of bed?
After turning over in bed, she hugged the pillow in her arms even tighter, contentedly closing her eyes again.
When she was young, because her parents were often away from home for work, she would sleep alone. To make her feel less lonely, Mr. Jiang once brought back a little bear for her during a business trip.
That bear became Jiang An’s childhood companion, and she held onto that bear, from when she was four years old all the way to twenty-four.
Letting nature take its course had also led to the formation of a habit where she liked holding something in her arms while sleeping. It wasn’t to the extent of dependency, but having something in her arms could make her sleep more soundly.
The first attempt having failed, Dr. Gao did not intend to give up lightly, and with rare patience, he circled around to the other side of the bed.
His gentle gaze rested on Jiang An, the girl curled up slightly, still wearing the shirt he hastily put on her last night. Her skin was as white as winter snow, with the long, slender legs exposed outside the blanket, the whole person as quiet as a sleeping kitten.
The man stood by the bed, fixated, as ripples gradually rose in his heart.
She always seemed to be this quiet, and even when she occasionally lost her temper, she could never really seem fierce.
Gao Chuan sighed softly and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window next to him, pulling open the curtains in one swift motion. The warm sunlight poured in through the window, wrapping around the girl like silky threads.
The sudden influx of sunlight caused the girl to frown, but she still did not wake up.
Just as she was about to drift back into dreams, she suddenly felt as if something had taken her breath away. Her chest felt stifled, and only when she slowly opened her eyes did she find that at some point, the man had leaned over and sealed her lips with his own.
He was still like a piece of wood, his lips firmly against hers, and as expected, after being blocked for a moment, she began to breathe rapidly.
Jiang An stared with wide eyes, looking astonished at the culprit before her. The man remained lingering at the corner of her lips, bringing with him a fresh and cool mint scent.
Jiang An was really running out of breath. She reached out to push the man who was bent over kissing her at the edge of the bed and fully woke up.
Gao Chuan observed the girl’s eyes, which were now rippling like clear waves, her hair disheveled from just waking up. Realizing she had been awakened by Gao Chuan’s kiss, her ears were already blushing red.
"Are you awake now, Mrs. Gao?" Gao Chuan looked at Jiang An’s flushed cheeks, his suddenly spoken voice tinged with hoarseness.
Jiang An lowered her eyelids shyly, nodding timidly before the man like pounding garlic, obediently replying, "Awake, awake."
Seeing this, Gao Chuan finally stood up straight, instructing Jiang An to get out of bed, wash up, and eat.
Only after regaining full consciousness did Jiang An feel sore all over. After all, as a novice, it was normal to feel sore and achy after the deed. Seeing the man was about to step out of the room, she too tried to turn over to get out of bed, despite feeling sore all over.
Her feet had barely left the floor when she nearly fell, quickly grabbing the corner of the bed to avoid tumbling down, letting out an "Ah" in surprise. The man who was just a few steps out abruptly stopped.
Turning back to see Jiang An with an embarrassed face, he seemed to understand something, turned back, scenes of their passionate night when Jiang An cried out in pain flooding his mind, causing a sudden pang of heartache.
He felt sorry for her.
"Can’t get out of bed?" The man who returned to the bed looked down at Jiang An and suddenly asked.
His imposing figure loomed over the petite girl, making her face burn up as if on fire. Having cried through the whole of last night was one thing, but this morning she felt just as weak and pathetic.
Facing matters of passion, she truly felt the difference between men and women for the first time. Unable to get out of bed due to her whole body feeling numb and sore, the man before her seemed relaxed and unbothered, as if nothing had happened.
Noticing the grievance flickering in Jiang An’s eyes, Gao Chuan said nothing and gently bent down to lift the girl by her waist. In the moment she was lifted, Jiang An, shocked, called out, "Dr. Gao."
"I can walk on my own," the girl stubbornly retorted, though she was already being carried out of the bedroom by the man.
The man paid no heed to her words and carried her straight into the bathroom. When Jiang An was gently put down, she heard the man lean close to her ear and whisper, "Your body is too weak; you should exercise more in the future."
