Chapter 100: Innate Mastery

Jiang An was stunned for a moment, realizing that the man was now seeking a kiss from her. Her face flushed crimson, and, feeling shy, she lowered her head. It appeared that after struggling inwardly, she finally leaned in slightly and pressed her lips against the man’s. The girl’s soft lips reminded him of cotton candy he had eaten as a child, coming together softly.

The warm breath enveloped them, and before Gao Chuan could react, Jiang An had quickly pulled away from his lips. Her face was flushed, her lips slightly parted, her shy demeanor like a rosebud about to bloom.

Gao Chuan slightly raised his eyebrows and, not waiting for Jiang An to look up again, drew her closer and covered her delicate lips once more. Jiang An’s eyes widened in surprise at his sudden movement. She had thought the man would stop at a light kiss, but Gao Chuan, like a ravenous wolf, crushed over her lips, capturing her every breath.

Jiang An’s breath was stifled by the kiss, and realizing the man’s fierce advance, her eyes immediately misted over. Gao Chuan noticed she was still stubbornly keeping her mouth shut and commanded softly in the moment she pulled away, "Breathe through your mouth."

As the girl obeyed his instruction and began to breathe with her mouth open, she was caught off guard once again by his lips pressing against hers. Slowly, their lips melded together.

She felt like she was about to drown in this tender moment.

The girl in front of him now had tears shimmering in her eyes, and both of their breaths grew hot.

By the time the man finally pulled away, Jiang An was listlessly leaning on his shoulder, gasping for air as if the kiss had exhausted half her life.

Her chest heaved, and it took a long while before she could barely recover. She glanced at Gao Chuan, who looked as calm as still water, pouted, and showed a hint of discontent: "That’s not fair."

Gao Chuan watched her intrigued, then heard the girl complain softly the next second, "Why doesn’t Doctor Gao even breathe heavily? Have you been kissing others often?"

Gao Chuan looked at the girl who was now questioning him with a slanted gaze, and couldn’t help but laugh.

Even though he was almost out of breath, he now felt an inexplicable surge of jealousy.

The man’s mood instantly improved, he raised his hand to caress her soft cheek, and leaned in close to her ear, murmuring: "Does Doctor Jiang know what ’innate mastery’ means?"

Hearing his teasing words, and thinking of her own embarrassing behavior just before, Jiang An wished she could just find a crack in the ground to crawl into.

The orange light in the study room scattered loosely over both of their faces, and Gao Chuan could even catch the fine fluff on the tip of Jiang An’s nose. The girl’s clear eyes were now misty, a faint blush on her face, her head lowered as she gently bit her lips, which had been reddened by his kisses, her eyelashes trembling slightly.

"How about the dinner party?" The man finally stopped teasing her and asked softly.

Jiang An was still sitting on his lap, a light tug from him just now and she was leaning on his shoulder, her senses finally coming back somewhat clear, "It was good, everyone is very talented."

Jiang An still felt bit uncomfortable remembering the awkward atmosphere of the four people at the dinner table today. Forcibly bundling four people together like that would only lead to strained smiles from anyone.

Jiang An looked at Gao Chuan who kept holding her without any intention of letting go. She raised her head to see that it was almost eleven o’clock on the wall clock, let out a sigh, and with a melodic voice, she dropped the hint, "Doctor Gao, isn’t it time to go to bed? It’s very late."

They both had been working at the hospital all day, and besides, Gao Chuan had to deal with annoying matters regarding the expert consultation tonight. He must be exhausted both physically and mentally, realizing there would be work again tomorrow, Jiang An reminded him.

Gao Chuan’s hand that was on her waist moved slightly, his gaze in the black pupils fell on the girl’s reddened ear tips, and he felt an inexplicable tenderness in his heart.

His Little Ostrich was always blushing in front of him, never once did her complexion look normal.

"How about it, want to sleep with me?" Gao Chuan asked hoarsely, his hot breath on Jiang An’s ear scared the girl so much that her apricot eyes widened, and she sat up straight; seeing the burning heat in the man’s eyes, she panicked and struggled free from his grasp, her legs feeling somewhat numb as she landed on the ground.

"I don’t want to," Jiang An directly refused without waiting for Gao Chuan to say anything else, and promptly trotted out of the study.

The man watched her hastily retreating back, a trace of amusement flowing out from the corner of his eyes.

It was good that she ran off, for he himself was worried that if this little cat, Jiang An, stayed for a moment longer, he wouldn’t be able to resist devouring her clean.

Later on, he never told Jiang An that his first kiss was given to her.

Time flew by, and Ji Wanwan’s vacation days were dwindling. Learning that Jiang An had started her internship, she took the initiative to ask her out to have fun, which mainly involved swiping credit cards.

During the first weekend of Jiang An’s internship week, she remembered that Shen Mei’s birthday was coming up soon. As a new daughter-in-law, she had to carefully pick out a gift—it had to be done right. She went round and round and finally set her sights on a scarf made of silk fabric, which seemed very suitable for Shen Mei.

Jiang An’s internship salary was meager and nowhere near enough to pay for such an expensive item. Fortunately, Gao Chuan had informed her before she left the house to put whatever she bought on his account.

Seeing Jiang An putting so much effort into selecting a birthday gift for Shen Mei, Ji Wanwan, who had always been at odds with Shen Mei, of course, couldn’t understand it. However, she was unexpectedly persuaded by Jiang An who said, "Sister-in-law, why don’t you also pick out a gift for mom? Maybe if mom is happy, you two can bury the hatchet."

Jiang An could actually see that the tension between Ji Wanwan and Shen Mei wasn’t due to some deep hatred; it was just that the misunderstandings kept piling up between them, causing the relationship to become so tense. Now, someone needed to take the initiative to break that ice.

Ji Wanwan couldn’t help but let out a sneer when she heard this. What a joke, she would give Shen Mei a gift? Shen Mei would certainly say it’s like a weasel giving New Year’s greetings to a chicken—no goodwill meant.

"Oh come on, sister-in-law, listen to me, just a few days ago I saw mom chasing after the drama series you’re in at home! She was even praising your acting to me," whispered Jiang An right next to Ji Wanwan’s ear.

Ji Wanwan crossed her arms and revealed an incredulous expression, thinking to herself that this was something new—Shen Mei actually watched her act? Wasn’t she the one who hated seeing her appear in the entertainment circle the most?

"There’s still time, let’s just look around!" Jiang An, not waiting for Ji Wanwan’s rebuttal, began pulling her to pick out suitable gifts.

Although Ji Wanwan outwardly resisted, she still listened to Jiang An’s persuasion and ended up choosing a jade bracelet. When it was time to pay and she saw the price, she felt a pinch; she herself had never worn jewelry so expensive.

Yet she thought if this could truly make Shen Mei happy, it would be worth it.
