Chapter 362 Testing (1)

Chapter 362: Chapter 362 Testing (1)

"Elder sister," Lilith opened the passenger seat and Loki jumped onto the car seat, curling his tail.

He looked at her cold face and tilted his head, "What’s wrong with you?"

Lilith didn’t answer right away. Her gaze was quiet and expressionless.

"Do you still have your full power?" she asked calmly.

"Still recovering," Loki said, sitting straight now. "But I can do small things."

"I want you to do something for me..." her voice was emotionless.

Loki nodded his head. "Tell me, I’ll do it."

After that, Lilith drove to her small house. She didn’t say anything to anyone. The house was silent. She took a quick bath, brushed her hair, and lay on bed without switching on the light.

Her mind was full. But her heart was calm... too calm.

Next morning, Lilith got up early as usual. She tied her hair in a loose ponytail and wore a neat blouse and pants. Her eyes were still cold, but her steps were firm.

While she was combing her hair, her phone screen lit up. It was an email.

[Subject: Promotional Event Reminder]

Date: Saturday.

Just four days left.

Lilith stared at the screen, then put the phone down.

"Hmm..." she sighed and grabbed her bag.

She left the house quietly and reached the company.

At the reception, a few workers looked at her in shock.

"Miss Lilith..."

But she just nodded and walked to the elevator without speaking.

She went to her desk and checked important files. Everything was normal. She made sure ESE production files were moving on time, checked the schedule for the coming days, and replied to a few important mails.

No one dared to disturb her.

But even while working, her eyes kept scanning everything.

Assistant Quinn was puzzled. Ever since that day, Miss Lilith didn’t question him again. She didn’t call. Didn’t walk into the CEO’s office. Didn’t even mention the missing boss.

She just came to work, did her duties, and left quietly.

And somehow... that silence scared him more.

He felt guilty deeply.

Atlas had clearly told him not to share anything about the boss’s condition. "No matter who asks," he had warned. "Not even Lilith."

But now, every time Quinn looked at her... he felt stuck between orders and conscience.

Each day, she looked colder than the day before. Her smile disappeared. Her eyes looked like they had lost light, like they were searching for something... and slowly giving up.

She was doing her job, yes. But she wasn’t there and it was killing him inside.

One day, while passing her desk, he paused. Lilith was typing something, her fingers moving steadily, but her face was unreadable like a doll. Blank and distant.

He swallowed hard.

She doesn’t deserve this...But what could he do?

He was just an assistant caught in the middle of something much bigger.

And yet, watching her fade... made him want to break every rule just to bring her spark back.

Because this wasn’t the Lilith he knew.

***

The next morning, Lilith did not go to the company.

She had already informed the office she would be taking a personal leave today.

Instead, she dressed in a clean pale-blue blouse tucked into high-waisted slacks and arrived at the ESE Production House by 9 a.m. sharp. The sky was still overcast from last night’s Snow storm, and a light breeze played with the hem of her coat as she stepped out of her car.

"Miss Lilith!" a few staff members greeted her respectfully as she stepped in. Most of them were young professionals—some in lab coats, others in formal shirts, all looking sharp and well-trained.

Lilith gave them a brief, acknowledging nod, her eyes calm but observant.

A tall man in a pure white shirt walked up to her. He had neatly combed hair, glasses perched low on his nose, and a small clipboard in hand. "Everything is ready, Miss Lilith. If you’ll please follow me to the testing chamber," he said politely.

Lilith nodded and followed him down a quieter hallway on the right.

The hallway gradually opened into a private testing space—soundproof walls lined with acoustic padding, and a thick glass window from which a few engineers could observe. The room was softly lit with pale lights, creating a calm atmosphere. In the middle of the space, there was a reclining leather chair with a black headset resting on a silver tray beside it.

"This is the newest model of the headset, updated last week," the technician explained. "It syncs directly with the neural signals of the user to adapt the storyline live, based on emotional response and memory triggers. The program installed today is a medium-length trial story—fully interactive."

Lilith sat down slowly in the chair, her legs crossed neatly and her hands resting on her lap. Her hair was open today, falling over her shoulders like soft waves.

"Is it the version connected to the L-type story engine?" she asked without lifting her gaze.

"Yes, ma’am. The L-type engine was updated this morning. It includes variable emotional triggers and multi-layered endings. Depending on your state of mind, the story might even change its genre halfway through."

Lilith gave a faint nod. "Very well. Begin the session."

One of the assistants carefully placed the headset over her eyes and adjusted it to fit snugly. She leaned back slightly, relaxing into the chair. A light click echoed as the system powered on, and a soft hum filled the room.

Outside the glass window, the monitoring team activated the main control panel. On the screen in front of them, her heart rate, pupil dilation, and emotional output levels began appearing in real time.

Inside the headset, Lilith was entering a different world.

The "Story Engine," as it was called, was a complex software built around AI and memory-based input. It wasn’t just a virtual story—it lived inside the person’s thoughts. The characters moved like real people, reacting to the user’s hidden emotions. The deeper the emotion, the more twisted or beautiful the ending could become.

It was designed to mirror the human mind to reflect the soul of the one who entered it.

Lilith had designed the foundation of this system herself...

As the screen faded to black and the story slowly began to load, Lilith let out a small breath.
