Chapter 45: Ki Ran and Hyuk

P.O.V - Dang Hyuk.

I storm off to my room feeling frustrated.

I slam the door behind me and crash unto my chair.

"Ugggh, this is so annoying." I yelled out.

Why do I have to keep doing all this.

I apologized didn’t I?

She’s just an auxiliary member of the clan.

Why do I have to keep bowing to her?

I heave a long sigh.

The only reason I’m even going so far is because of big sister.

"And maybe her cute little Rin?" I say as a little smile crept up my face.

I heave another sigh.

Well I’ve tried my best.

I’m not doing anymore.

I’m starving.

I should have gotten a snack on my way back.

Just then my door swings open.

"Ahhh shit, there’s only one person who swings open my door like that without knocking." I say to myself as I cover my face with my left palm.

Soha Unnie.

She stepped in slowly, her hands behind her and her face as unbothered as always.

"Hmmm, it’s already evening and your clothes are not scattered around, that’s surprising." She says as she looks around.

Why is she here now.

I don’t believe I’ve done anything wrong in the past one week.

"Why are you here sister?" I ask her.

"What? I can’t come check on my little brother?" She throws a question back, her face still so... expressionless.

That face, never knowing what she’s thinking, it’s quite scary.

I heave a sigh.

"What do you want sister?." I ask her.

She goes to take a seat on my bed.

"I heard you have been going to see that lady who you injured and whose daughter you kidnapped?" She says as if asking a question.

"First of all, I wasn’t the one who did that to her." I quickly say defensively.

"But you did attack her." She says calmly.

"With just one needle...and the poison on the needle was just to make her go unconscious, I didn’t know after I left she didn’t fall unconscious and continued trying to fight and was injured badly and even poisoned by the guards I hired." I immediately tried defending myself.

"Really? If you didn’t know, how did you find out?" She asks.

"Dang So told me when I went to see her three days ago." I reply.

"I see... well so how has it been?" She asks.

I heave a long sigh before saying;

"Annoying."

She doesn’t look at me and just simply says;

"Yes, I can imagine."

"I think I’ve done enough to show my sincerity sister, as the First Son of the Patriach I can’t stoop any lower than this." I say to her.

"Yes, as the First Young Master of the Dang Clan you have your dignity to uphold." She says, her face still unreadable.

"Anyways, eat something, I’m off." She says as she gets up and just leaves the room.

Why did she come here though.

I heave a sigh as I relax back into my chair.

With the side of my eye I notice something on my bed, something that wasn’t there before Soha Unnie came in.

It was a little bag.

I go to check it out and I see rice cakes and nut butter by the side.

My favourite.

I smiled.

I sat down and began to eat.

P.O.V - Dang Ki Ran.

It was evening, the sun had set and I had just got back home with my daughter.

I go take a shower and go to make dinner for I and Rin.

I was slicing onion when I almost cut my hand.

I heave a sigh as I dropped the knife.

I wasn’t focused.

Was I too harsh on Dang Hyuk?

He is still the First Young Master of the clan after all.

I’m not even angry at him anymore.

My anger subsided alot when I found out he didn’t hurt Rin and he also treated her well.

Even Rin now calls him big brother.

I later found out he didn’t know about the guards using lethal poison on me.

But what he did is still...

I can’t just...

I heave another long sigh.

I should just tell him I’ve forgiven him so he stops bothering us.

Though I doubt he will come again after how I acted today.

I was about to go back to cutting the onion when I hear a knock on the door.

"Who could it be? Dang So wouldn’t come here by this time." I thought to myself.

I go over to open the door expecting maybe another knock but the person doesn’t knock a second time.

"Wait could it be Dang Hyuk?" I thought to myself as I slowly opened the door.

I was startled seeing who was before me.

I almost tripped.

Right in front of me was Miss Dang Soha.

What is she doing here?

She stood there with a poker face, I had no idea what she was thinking.

It looked like just her standing there was too much stress for her.

She looked bored, her upper eyelids were half way down.

I was getting uneasy not knowing what to do and then she spoke.

"So? may I come in?" She says, her voice low and cool.

I was so surprised I forgot we were standing at the entrance of my house.

"Ohh please, please come in." I hurriedly said ushering her in.

She came in and took a seat.

"Umm, may I offer you anything?" I asked anxiously.

"No, I won’t be staying long, could you take a seat?" She says to me almost commanding.

I sit right opposite her when Rin comes running in from her room.

"Mum, who was... ohhhh? is this Miss Dang Soha?" Rin asks of course very surprised.

I nod confirming she was the one.

"Is this, Rin?" Dang Soha asks.

Before I could reply Rin quickly responded.

"Yes I’m Rin and it’s nice to meet you Miss Dang Soha." She says excitedly.

Dang Soha remains with her poker face as she stretches forth her hand signifying for Rin to go over to her.

Rin happily goes to meet her and tries to climb her laps.

Dang Soha helps her up and Rin sits on her laps.

For a moment there, for a short moment I saw Dang Soha smile looking at Rin.

She looks up at me and her face was back to the usual.

"My brother..." She said before pausing.

"This is about her brother? Dang Hyuk?

Wait, is it because of how I spoke to him today?

Is she here to warn me?

She is known to be cold and indifferent to everyone, including her father.

I cannot possibly imagine how she would act right now." I thought to myself.

I was on edge.

I didn’t know what to do.

She is an Early Peak, and not just any Early Peak, she is known to be in a different class than those of her generation in the entire Orthodox Faction.

I just barley entered First Rate three years ago, what if she decides to do something, what am I supposed to do, and she has Rin on her laps.

If she wants to do anything then her just getting in already meant we were gone.

No, I can’t let anything happen to Rin.

"I have to do all I can to keep her safe." I thought to myself.

I began slipping off my chair to get to my knees and begin to apologize when she suddenly says;

"I am sorry."

I look up and I see her head bowed.

Huh? what is going on here?

She looks back up.

"I know my brother has hurt you and your family, and I have come to apologize for that." She says still with her poker face.

I didn’t know what to do, I was genuinely shocked.

Before I could say anything she stood up, gently placing Rin on her feet.

"He might be dumb and make a lot of wrong decisions but he is not a bad person, so even if it might be hard, I ask you forgive him just this one time.

Goodnight." She said finally and just left.

As the door slams I collapse into my chair sweating.

"What the hell just happened here?" I thought to myself.

"Rin, come here" I said with my arms wide open.

She comes into my arms and I hug her tight.

The next day, early in the morning, around 7am.

Dang Ki Ran walks towards her canteen with Rin by her side.

Standing in front of it was Dang Hyuk.

"I thought he might not show up this time." Dang Ki Ran thought to herself.

Usually Dang Hyuk greets her first but this time...

"Good Morning Young Master."
