Destroy My Life In You

Chapter 41: True Identity: Alpha’s Daughter and Vampire King

"She is to be outlawed!"

"Therefore, Ravenna has to leave Silver Pack."

"Father, please don’t send me away."

"Alpha Derek! It’s Alpha Derek from now. The verdict has been made and can not be changed. From now on, you are stripped off your title as the Alpha’s daughter, and you are expected to leave the pack as soon as the court is adjourned."

Those familiar voices of that particular day when I was chased away from my home echoed terribly in my head. I could feel it, the pain, the fear. It had surged in me all over again as every bit of the forgotten memory returned like a wave ready to carry me away with its strong tides. The anger in my father’s eyes, the disgust in the people’s eyes. It broke me all over again as I recollecting every bit of the lost memories.

Wrenching my eyes open, I sat up as I took in short breaths, digesting everything that was happening. I now remembered everything. How I was ousted from the pack until to the point where I lost my memory. And now I was wishing if I could just forget everything once again. It was too much when I thought of the family that I had lost.

"Now you know who you really are." An unfamiliar voice brought me back, and only then did I realize I had company. There was a man dressed in black and two ladies sanding behind him, in black too, and their half faces were covered with a veil, leaving their eyes only.

"Who are you?" Warily, I questioned, ready to defend myself if anything untoward happened. I had a bad feeling about their presence here.

"Who I am doesn’t matter, but what I have come to tell you does." The man replied a half smile, never leaving his lips.

"And why would I listen to you?"

"Because we helped you regain your lost memories. Is that enough?" His statement shocked me, trying to understand what he meant that he helped me regain my memory.

"Actually, it was them who did that." The man added, pointing at the two ladies behind him.

"How???...What is it that you want from me?" If the ladies had the power to return my blocked memories, it only meant they were not entirely human as portrayed.

As if guessing my what I had in my mind, the man said, "They are witches, and they work for me."

I had heard of witches but never met one in real life. Maybe I had, but I could not tell since they fitted well among the humans. And as for the man, he wasn’t human either. He jad to be a supernatural for him to be able to make them work under him.

"And what are you?" I asked my mind away, my gaze locked on the man.

He did not reply immediately but rather chuckled before closing his eyes. The moment he opened them, they had changed from their original colour to blazing red.

"What do you think?" His question was accompanied by the protrusion of fangs from his mouth which directly gave me an idea of what he was.

"A... vampire. You are a vampire." I pronounced in a low audible tone shocked, sonce I had never met a vampire before.

I was petrified because since ages, vampires were archenemies of the wolves. The man seemed to have an idea of my identity and could have been on a quest to annihilate me.

"Are you here to kill me?"

I heard the man chuckle again before he changed back to his human form instantly. "Kill you? Never in a thousand years would I do that. Rather, I am here to save your life."

His words came out flawless without any suspicion, but my mind could not help but doubt him. Why would a vampire help someone from the wolf’s linage? That too an Alpha’s daughter, if not for an evil motive?

"Save my life from what or who?" I would not believe such a ridiculous thing when I had never offended anyone who would want to kill me. Even if I had, I had no idea, so I decided to listen, but ended up regretting it.

"From the Nightveil brothers. Most especially Alaric. He will kill you."

I went silent for a moment, then burst into a hysterical laughter hearing such ridiculous words from him.

"Mr. Man or whatever they call you, if you are here to make stupid jokes, then you better leave. Am not in the mood for it."

I was totally pissed especially when he uttered Alaric’s name. That too, his brothers, Finn and Zander, who had taken me in for two years and gave me a new home and family. And now a stranger from nowhere was saying they would kill me. It had be the biggest joke of the century.

"Believe it or not, but once they discover your real identity, you won’t be alive to tell what happened to you."

I clenched the sheets while glaring at the man dangerously. He was being too much. "Why would they do that? Are you on of their foes and want to use me against them?" That was the only logical reason I could think of, as why the man would spout such words about people who I trusted with life.

Again, he let out a chuckle and then said, "I won’t deny it, I do hate those brothers, but I wouldn’t go as low as to use a lady for my own benefit." He took a long pause then continued, "They are vampires too. Not just any vampires but royal vampires. If you have heard of the vampire history then you should know about the legendary king of vampire who is believed to be immortal and has lived for six centuries and is still alive hiding his identity and lives among humans. That person is Alaric. Now it’syour choice to believewhat I say or not."

Ridiculous! That was the first thing that came into my mind. That was not possible. How could it be? Alaric, king of vampires? The man definitely had to be lying.

"Am sure you had noticed some strange things about him that you could not explain but now that you have your memory back and aware of the existence of the supernaturals, then there’s no need to hide anything from you."

I tried connecting the dots, and for sure, Alaric’s real identity was questionable, but him being the vampire king, I could not believe it. The vampire king I had heard of was nothing like Alaric. It was said that he like a rogue, killing people mercilessly for the slightest mistake. I had done more than enough to be banished to hell by him, but he never touched even a strand of my hair.

"He might be a vampire but the vampire king? How can you be sorry sure it’s him? Someone might have lied to you." I retorted, unwilling to believe such nonsense.

"No, I can never mistake that man for anyone else. He has committed the biggest sin against me that not in a hundred years could I forget his face."

I shook my head to brush off the flooding thoughts but just could not. "If you have past grudges with him, then you should face him. Why would you lie that he will kill me?"

"Oh, he will dear. Trust me. He has done it before, so why wouldn’t he do it again? Centuries ago, he killed the woman he claimed to be love with, with his own hands once he discovered she was a werewolf. Why wouldn’t he do the same to you when you are nothing to him?"

The man’s words shocked me to the core. Alaric had someone he loved? Everything was becoming too complicated with each passing minute and did not know who to trust or who to shun. But what I felt for Alaric overpowered and cleared every doubt in my mind.

"Maybe she did something against him, and he did that to protect himself." I added, though, somewhere in my heart, I felt scared.

"Did something against him? The woman loved him to the point she could give her life for him, but what did he do? He ripped her heart out mercilessly and killed her."

I could feel the man’s voice go up and filled with anger as if that person he was talking about was important to him. And then something hit my mind. "You loved that woman too?"

The man’s expression changed, replaced by a subtle smile. "More than anyone could, but she only had eyes for that unworthy man."

I shook my head in disbelief. "Alaric possibly can’t do that. Am sure he had a good reason."

The man laughed, and his eyes turned red. "I don’t care what his reason was. I have done what I needed to and now everything is in your hands. If you want to die then, you can continue staying by his side. I’ll take my leave now. I can feel he is coming."

I wanted to ask more, but the ladies behind him snapped their fingers at the same time, and they disappeared from my sight. I took in long breaths to calm my complicated feelings as I thought about the man’s words.

I didn’t want to believe it. I couldn’t believe it. That Alaric could be that ruthless vampire king I had heard of. He had killed a woman he loved just because he discovered she was from the wolf tribe. Even if he did it, I was sure he had a good reason. My heart was in chaos, screaming for answers that I didn’t know who could answer them. Alaric? He was out of question because if I asked him, I would have to explain how I came to know of it, and that would mean I would have to reveal my identity. And I was scared of what he might do to me.

Just when I was lost deeply in my thoughts, I heard the door open, and Alaric came in.
