Chapter 30: Back To The Mansion: Ravenna VS Zeke

It was after twilight when Ravenna and Alaric got back to the mansion. Rushing out of the car, she headed inside leaving Alaric behind without a word.

"Cutie pie, am back!" She let out a shriek when her eyes fell on Luke who was arranging the dining table.

Luke turned to the door instantly, shock and joy visible on his face. "Miss Ravenna, welcome back." A smile he had never shown to her or anyone was plastered on his lips, as he stood frozen on the spot. He knew his boss had some hidden emotions for her but he never expected him to acknowledge them so soon. It was unlike him.

Ravenna grinned widely dashing towards him excitedly. "You are still as cute as ever. I missed you a lot, especially your delicacies. I even had a dream about you being my personal chef, can you believe that? I guess we were destined to meet, right?" She blubbered without a stop, her attention entirely on the food that was on the table. Invisible stars shone on her eyes eagerly waiting to dive in.

Luke remained quiet but his smile never disappeared as he stared at her unblinkingly. There was pure admiration in his eyes wondering how the little girl was able to capture everyone’s heart in just a span of a few days, most especially Alaric. Since she left, he could feel a hollow was formed in the house and Alaric, making it gloomy and dark as it had always been before her arrival. Now that she was here, he felt happy and for some unknown reason, there was a ting of strange connection he felt towards her. As if she was someone very important.

"So, you are back." That voice broke Ravenna’s little fantasy over the food, and her happy mood dampened.

Turning around, Ravenna smiled mockingly at Zeke who was coming out of the kitchen holding an apple. "Yes I am. Do you have a problem with that?"

Zeke sneered silently tearing his gaze from her. "Am I supposed to be happy? You are a nuisance, so of course I have a problem."

Ravenna scoffed in response and took a step near him, holding her waist with both hands. "Do I look like I care? You can go to hell."

Zeke huffed shaking his head regrettably then murmured to himself a bit loud. "I guess this was a bad idea."

Ravenna narrowed her eyes, staring at him suspiciously. "What bad idea? You are the bad idea, the whole of you is a bad idea."

"You! Stay away from me." Zeke shooed her with his index finger but she moved closer, standing a step away from him.

"I. Wont." She spoke firmly making it loud and clear to him.

Zeke clenched his fist on her face while gritting his in anger. His insides were burning with fury as he glared at her without a word. No one had ever dared to mock him or even insult in his whole lifetime but this little creature was driving him to the edge, and there was nothing he could do to her. Not when Alaric still cared for her.

"Are you both done?" Alaric, who had been standing by the main door watching, spoke up matching towards them. "And you Zeke, is this what you were aiming for by asking me to bring her back?"

"Of course not. She’s the one who started it." Zeke pointed at Ravenna accusingly then continued making her roll her eyes with a dismissive look. "See that? I already regret my decision. Take her back before she drives me mad."

Ravenna shook her head and registered what Alaric had said earlier. "Wait a minute, did you say he asked you to bring me back into the mansion?" The question was directed to Alaric who was now standing beside her.

"Yes, he did. Isn’t it, Zeke?" Alaric turned away from them and took a seat on the sofa, bringing out his phone and focused on it. It was better not to involve himself in their childish fights. He took a quick a glance at Ravenna and shook his head wondering where his shy, hungry girl from earlier had disappeared to. The two were worlds apart but he seemed to have developed a liking to every character of hers.

Ravenna raised her brows questioningly, blocking Zeke who wanted to flee. "What are you playing at, pup?"

Zeke froze as his eyes flew wide open. "What did you just call me?"

Ravenna did not miss the change on his face. She could see from his eyes that he hated that word to the core. "Pup. Now answer the question, my little pup, hmm? Am getting impatient already." Ravenna enjoyed every single look on his face.

"Don’t call me that."

"What will you do... pup?"

"I said don’t call me that."

"Pup, sweet little pup. Big bad bully pup, oh my pup." That came out as a song as she waked away from him feeling satisfied. "I’ll go freshen up, pup. Don’t miss me a lot." She went for the lift and left waving at Zeke with her fingers.

Left on the living room filled with anger, Zeke headed towards Alaric and sat across him. "I can’t stand her. It was my mistake for insisting you to bring her back."

"I would still have brought her even if you didn’t ask me." Alaric replied plainly, sparing Zeke a blank look. "You’ll have to tolerate her. And no getting physical, understood?"

"Yes." Zeke said before standing up and paused in front of Luke who had been watching the whole event silently with a subtle smile. "Brush off that smirk on your face, Luke. Being my elder brother, you are supposed to be helping me but here you are laughing as that witch bullies me. Who will get justice for me?"

Luke shook his head and continued arranging the table while saying, "I didn’t ask you to follow on our younger brother’s footsteps. You are elder to him but you behave as the younger learning his bad habits. I won’t..."

"That’s it!" Zeke exclaimed happily before patting Luke’s shoulder. "My dear brother will get justice for me. One call and all will be sorted out." Zeke rushed out while making a call with a triumphant smile.

On the couch, Alaric received a call a few minutes later, informing him the person he had been looking for had been found and would be brought to him in the next two days.

****************

Ravenna was done changing her clothes after taking a shower when she received a call. Seeing the caller, her eyes turned sharp and a devilish smirk formed on her lips.

"It took you how many months to call?... What! You are coming back?... No, no, am already in City X... I’ll be waiting, you still have a debt to pay for lying to me last time... I don’t care, this time I’ll beat you to pulp." And she ended the call whistling her favorite tune.
