Chapter 29: A Hunt For Ravenna

Seated on my desk that was of course still located in Alaric’s office, I was still fantasizing about the whole scenario that had taken place in the car. I was yet to come into terms that I was lured by seduction to become his woman. Coming to think of it now that I was clearheaded, Alaric had not specified what he really felt for me. Yes, there was mutual attraction between us but that was not what I only desired. I wanted him fully, his heart, love and commitment though that would come later.

I was trapped. Trapped in love to the extent that I could not imagine a moment away from him. Smiling slightly, I leaned on my palm looking at Alaric who was busy going through documents. The sight of him seated there drove me into a world of desire once again, which really surprised me. I only had a taste of him but could not get it out of my mind. Never have I ever felt so strong for someone to the extent of yearning for someone so deep and impassioned. Perfect body, enchanting eyes, tempting+ lips, he had everything any woman would want in a man.

"Am I that handsome that you can’t look away?" And his voice, intoxicating and addictive.

I cleared my throat in embarrassment of being caught ogling at him. But then, I had all the rights to do so since I was his now and vice versa. With a meek smile, I nodded before adding, "Too handsome for your good."

Looking at me, I could see his lips form a smirk, then he leaned his back on the chair. "My own good or yours?"

I frowned at his question unable to understand what he meant. "Am not the one whom ladies keep... flocking around." I felt a sting in my heart before I heard his chuckle fill the room.

"I missed your jealous look. Kind of entertain me." I could clearly hear the mockery in his voice.

"I... am not jealous." There was a knot on my throat which made me feel like... crying, mixed with a sour feeling which made my anger flair up unexpectedly. I was not one to feel a roller-coaster of emotions at the same time but I guess it was the effect of being in love.

"Yes, you are not." Alaric went back to his work with a half-smile plastered on his face. My anger subsided with that scene feeling elated that I was the reason for his current happiness. I had never seen him smile so genuinely the few days I had spent with him. He always had this blank dangerous look that would even scare the king of hell let alone a little girl like me. I was about to get lost in my fantasies again when I felt my stomach rumble loudly. What more embarrassment was greater than this, in front of the man you so much wanted to please, considering the man had an advanced hearing ability so he definitely had heard that goddamn noise. Hiding the side of my face with my palm I stood up and rashly headed for the door.

"I’ll go find something to eat." I uttered looking anywhere else than him.

"Just go before you swallow me whole." I bit my lip hearing his voice that was restrained of laughter.

"Fuck you!" I cursed in a low tone slamming the door behind me, and walked away with a red face.

Silver Pack

Alpha Derek stood mightily in front of the council members, anger written all upon his face. His eyes were glowing indicating his wolf was about to lose it and take control.

"Calm down, Alpha." The man on the left side of the Alpha Derek, his Beta, Cade, whispered holding the Alpha’s shoulder. "Things will only get worse."

That seemed to work as Alpha Derek took his seat looking at the man standing in the middle of the courtroom. "Can you explain what exactly happened?" Though he had relented, the anger he felt was increasing with every passing second.

The man in the centre nodded before saying, "We did find the outcast Ravenna in City X of the human world but unfortunately, we were unable to get her. My partner was abducted by someone and I managed to escape without being noticed. When I went to find him, I discovered that the ones who had abducted him were the vampires. I witnessed him being killed by them." The man took a pause and faced downwards, while murmurs filled the hall.

"Continue." Alpha Derek ordered.

"I fled from there and decided to focus on the mission and days ago was when I discovered that the outcast Ravenna was living with same vampire whom I had seen killing my partner."

A dead silence took over as everyone fell into a state of shock.

"How could she?"

"Colluded with the vampires to kill her own people?"

"Maybe she wants revenge for whatever happened."

"What revenge? She was the one who killed five of our people."

"Silence!" Alpha Derek growled heaving up and down. "Not one more word."

"But Alpha, we have to do something about this before she leads the vampires into our pack."

"Yes. Who knows what she might have been plotting for the past two years."

Everyone gave out their opinion some even asking Alpha Derek to go find her himself maybe she would listen to him since they were still connected by blood. Unable to take it anymore, Alpha Derek let out a roar that brought everyone in the entire courtroom to their knees. The Alpha’s growl was quite powerful especially when angry.

"Have mercy, Alpha." They begged, making the man loosen up a bit.

"I’ll bring her back, Alpha." A masculine voice interrupted, attracting everyone’s attention. Few meters away from the door stood a young good-looking man, all dressed in black. He had a slightly short dark hair which added to his charisma. "I volunteer to go on this mission."

"Jaxon, only the council members are allowed in here." Alpha Derek stated calmly.

"Forgive my rudeness, Alpha. I just wanted to be of help to the pack. There won’t be a suitable person for this mission than me. Ravenna will definitely listen to me considering our past relationship." Jaxon spoke politely bowing his head.

Alpha Derek went quiet for a moment before taking his seat. "Are you certain you can bring her back?"

"I am, Alpha. After all, she was and still is my fiancée."
