DESTINY GAMES
Chapter 365 - 365: Snitching Pays.

The amount of merit points they got for the fight wasn't much at all. After all, they had only fought some weak vampires, and the fight was easy.

They all earned about 1,000 merit points each while he earned 1,500 merit points as the leader of the operation. The bulk of that was the reward for doing this dangerous mission.

1,000 merit points wasn't much at all. It was what they would have earned if they had killed a single D-rank enemy each.

A single kill would have earned them that much. Yet they had to work for hours and suffer in a moving creature in relative darkness and boredom for many days.

Kelvin wasn't surprised to find out that soldiers were not satisfied with this reward. He could only tell them that it was more than what the soldiers who had chosen to build bases were earning.

The fact that the soldiers who were building bases were also working nonstop every day for their merit points helped to mollify them. So they calmed down and began looking forward to the next encounter.

But three days later, Command informed him that his tip-off about Crystal Magi had led them to discover something important. So he was rewarded with more merit points.

This time the merit points were 10,000. He had earned ten times what he earned through hard work just because he had useful information.

This made him chuckle and say to himself, "This is why snitches exist. There's just too much to gain by snitching."

He laughed for a while before he became serious. He asked himself, "Jokes aside, what could be so important that Command gave me 10,000 merit points for? What secret could Crystal Magi be hiding?"

He was curious about Crystal Magi's secret not only to satiate his interest but also to see if he could earn merit points from it. But he was only curious. He wasn't willing to do anything about his curiosity.

He didn't tell anyone about the reward for his tip-off. He kept that to himself and waited with the other soldiers for the next fight.

He did that to both monopolize this source of merit points and to keep a secret from Crystal Magi since the librarian can hear and see everything going on in the wayfarer. If anyone talks about it, Crystal Hoard is likely to find out about it.

This made him say to himself, "At this rate, we won't be the only ones collecting information about the enemies. The enemies will also be collecting information about us."

He is especially wary of Crystal Magi's ability to watch them without being seen. The librarian was like an invisible spy.

The librarian is a terrifying invisible spy with perfect memory and is highly intelligent. To top things off, the spy can share information with other spies without the humans knowing.

"Crystal Magi could be speaking about me to other librarians currently. So I better look harmless so that they don't send a demigod after me."

The days went by while he was thinking about his situation. The next fight came two days later when they encountered another wayfarer.

This wayfarer was their original target. The previous one was just an unlucky wayfarer that they encountered on the road to their initial target.

This target was bigger than the previous one. Yet, it was faster.

But this detail didn't discourage the human soldiers. They had cleared out the last target without any casualties, so they were not afraid of another firefight.

Kelvin directed them to repeat what they had done the last time. Crystal Magi locked onto the target and began a mental brawl with it. This slowed down the wayfarer and let them catch up to it.

This situation was good, but Kelvin noticed that Crystal Magi hadn't done this in their last encounter with vampires. So he thought that either Crystal Magi had withheld information about his abilities from them or that Crystal Magi had recently gained the ability to do so.

It could also be both things. Kelvin didn't trust anything and was suspicious of everything.

He didn't think he was being paranoid either. His life was on the line, so he had to pay attention to everything.

Besides, he knew that the Yggdrasil civilization was going to betray the Kunuts. Since that can happen, he believes that it is possible for the Kunuts to betray them too.

In his humble opinion, it is only a matter of time before one of them backstabs the other, and he doesn't want to be targeted first for standing out. Not unless he has the whole Yggdrasil army standing with him.

The target wayfarer was slowed down. This made it easy for it to be targeted by the rocket launchers.

Unfortunately, the wayfarer was wary of them after Crystal Magi began tussling mentally with them. It didn't want any projectile flying towards it from an enemy. So it struck down some of the rockets before they could reach it.

Of the three rockets that they shot at it, only one managed to hit the target. It was a hit on the shell of the wayfarer, but the acid payload didn't come near the line of organs of the wayfarer.

So even though an access point had been created on the shell, the wayfarer itself was still alive and resisting. It was even retreating now that it had been injured.

This meant that it was up to the soldiers to immobilize the wayfarer. They were already prepared for that. In fact, the two speedsters that were sent to do the job were looking forward to it.

Kelvin didn't join the team sent to immobilize the wayfarer this time around. Instead, he acted as backup in case something went wrong.

He ran alongside their ally while the two speedsters ran towards the enemy wayfarer. As he watched them leave, he kept his eyes on the overall situation. He didn't want to miss anything as it could be the prelude to him losing his life.
