Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 727 - Chapter 727 Chapter 596 Re-entering the Misty World_2
Chapter 727: Chapter 596: Re-entering the Misty World_2 Chapter 727: Chapter 596: Re-entering the Misty World_2 “You know, Roger, I’ve been to many places and encountered numerous troublesome creatures, but the most difficult to handle was still that thing,”
A strange expression flitted across Henrik’s face.
Roger quickly thought of something.
“Don’t tell me you took her…”
Roger looked astonished, “What the hell are you up to, Henrik? That woman might not be outstanding in combat, but when it comes to charm, she’s unmatched…”
“Heh heh,”
Henrik wore a smug look.
“These lads are brimming with energy every day, playing Gwent Cards whenever they get the chance,”
He curled his lip in disdain.
“Playing cards? Do they play Gwent on the bed?!”
“All that nonsense about ‘deep communication with a Spirit Medium is the best way to increase Gwent accuracy’, it’s all crap, just excuses!”
“Next, I’ll let them experience the full allure of the Night Demon!”
Henrik’s expression turned sinister.
Roger was somewhat speechless.
The strength of the Night Demon simulated in the Mental Illusion probably wouldn’t be too strong, but the woman’s true power was not her combat abilities, but her innate ability to charm.
Roger could guarantee that these energetic youngsters would definitely not be able to resist the temptation from the Night Demon. By then…
He couldn’t help shivering, Roger had ample reason to believe that Henrik’s purpose in doing this was not simply for the trial.
After thinking it over, Roger didn’t do much to stop it.
Henrik generally had some line he wouldn’t cross. Those guys would at most suffer a bit and lose face, but as for danger and consequences,
Most likely, they just wouldn’t be able to play Gwent with those beautiful female Spirit Mediums in a short while.
After making his rounds, Roger relaxed his mind and tried to sense the Illusionary Realm constructed by the training facility.
The scene shifted, and he was back in the haunted manor, returning once again to the mental hospital in Swamp Town.
And there was Crystal Lake. Roger edited some of his experiences to highlight the Water Ghosts in the lake and other creatures in the swamp.
However, Henrik changed some settings, forcibly adding a female Night Demon into the mix.
Roger could almost picture those vigorous young Demon Hunters being ambushed by Water Ghosts lurking in the dark while battling the female Night Demon.
Tsk, tsk.
A pincer attack, perfect.
Roger was the owner of the training facility, and he held many privileges alone, having delegated some powers to Henrik. The two then discussed for a while before traversing the cave and reappearing on the other side of the gorge.
There, Roger could see several Demon Hunters undergoing trials in individual caves.
They had clearly been through the Green Grass Trial, with physical capabilities far beyond ordinary people.
“The entire gorge is split into two sections, those who haven’t passed the trial need to undergo a willpower check, and those who have gone through the Green Grass Trial can also face a higher intensity of mental pressure, honing themselves repeatedly before the actual combat,”
Henrik led Roger up the stairs, which had an elevator for the descent but a very long path upwards.
The darkness around was oppressive, and for every Demon Hunter who had passed the Green Grass Trial, climbing these stairs was equivalent to affirming their identity.
Next, they would face real monsters.
The lengthy staircase itself was a test.
The atmosphere suddenly became damp, and a thin fog began to appear in the air.
The mist grew thicker and thicker until it enveloped the whole person, and by that time, the two had walked out of the stairs and onto the ground.
All that met the eye was a vast expanse of white.
The dense fog was thick but not enough to completely lose one’s way.
From afar, Roger could already hear the sounds of combat and struggle.
The monsters that appeared here were all ones he had faced before, some of which he had seen in the Misty World, and others that he had once claimed as trophies and submitted to the Mist Hut.
Having some time to spare, Roger entered the Misty World while Henrik was making adjustments.
This was the first Cursed Land Roger had ever encountered, and even now, with his extensive experience, the situation here still astonished him.
Upon opening the door, the animated mist wrapped around it.
Roger walked into the fog-shrouded street.
After several upgrades to the Hunter’s Cabin and with Roger’s own progress, he had shed the constraints of his past movements.
Moving with ease through the fog, it wasn’t long before he reached the central area, but before he could enter, a thunderous boom echoed from afar.
He focused his gaze and heard the dull sound of footsteps coming from the other end of the Misty World.
A thought struck him, and Roger didn’t continue exploring; instead, he hurried towards the source of the sound.
The Misty World was squarely shaped, and its interior was not vast. It didn’t take long for Roger to reach the opposite side of the Misty World.
This time he did not recoil but instead walked towards the direction of the footsteps. Soon, a huge foot descended from the sky.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Even though Roger’s strength had reached the latter stages of the Fourth Tier, the close-up sensation of massive size still left him unavoidably shaken.
Looking up along the thick ankle, due to the enhancement of the Hunter’s Cabin, the mist’s ability to obscure Roger’s vision had become negligible.
In fact, he could have come to check it out before, but at that time, his low strength meant that approaching carelessly could have led to crises he couldn’t handle.
The sound grew closer, and Roger finally saw what was above the foot.
Powerful muscles with a rock-like luster indicated that, proportionally, the creature’s size was beyond imagination.
His heart pounded fiercely; he hadn’t even felt this way when facing the Sword Master Cold Crow.
This was caution towards the unknown.
The air current swept through, lifting Roger off the ground, then he looked up along the sturdy calf.
Blood.
Mottled blood.
Looking higher, Roger saw the rolled skin and muscle, along with the ghastly white bones.
He was startled.
For it turned out that what was walking before his eyes was a severed leg.
The wound on the severed leg appeared to have been twisted off forcefully and then torn away from the body.
What kind of person could twist off a limb from such a powerful being?
What a terrifying power it would require!
With such strength, no special abilities would be needed; a casual punch or kick could demolish a building, flatten a mountain.
While contemplating, Roger didn’t slow down; he followed the footsteps, even approaching actively, leaping into the air.
Reaching a certain height, suddenly, an invisible barrier appeared in the air.
Struggling against it, Roger felt a strong resistance, but unlike when he first encountered this force, he now had some qualification to resist.
However, the backlash quickly grew stronger, and the vibrations even made the entire Misty World tremble.
Reining in his power, Roger fell from the sky, then he followed the enormous footprints all the way to the edge of the Misty World.
The next second, the broken foot passed through the barrier and then disappeared in front of Roger.
The surroundings lay in ruins.
It was as if the thing had never been there at all.
“Mysterious world, mysterious rules.”
Having experienced much, Roger knew not all things had answers at hand; the so-called Misty World might be fragmentary remnants of a once glorious world.
And that enormous foot could have belonged to an inhabitant of that world.
Frightening vitality, it’s unknown how many years that thing had been dead, yet it could still walk around eerily.
Roger was unaware of the mechanisms behind this, but if he could bypass the barriers around him, he might use the giant foot to reach a completely foreign place.
Another world, or universe?
Turning his gaze away, everything around that had been destroyed by the giant footprint was quickly regenerating.
The mist thinned, and the giant foot only occasionally appeared when the mist was thick; Roger felt that when he had time, he might need to understand the pattern behind the foot’s appearances.
Distracting thoughts pushed to the back of his mind, he once again arrived at the core of the Misty World.
Passing through the expansive square, he came to the Central Patio and looked down from above, Roger saw the familiar chessboard.
As he approached, the chessboard began to change.
