Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 403 - Chapter 403 Chapter 403 Meeting

Chapter 403: Chapter 403: Meeting Chapter 403: Chapter 403: Meeting Those smiling faces crowded in front of Roger without attacking, merely gazing at him quietly.

But even if you knew they were harmless, being watched by dozens, even hundreds of heads was not a pleasant experience.

As Roger stood up, the beast in the distance had already roared into the garden, splattering a shower of blood and gore with a casual wave of its limb.

A dozen heads collided, twisting and bursting apart, and the middle-aged man who had first entered the garden was appreciating a smiling head in his hands.

“What beautiful flowers, each petal perfect without a single flaw,” he said, lowering his head as if intending to sniff the sweet fragrance of the blossoms.

But what he didn’t know was that his large nostrils were nearly stuffed into the pale face’s slightly open mouth.

Ignoring the middle-aged man not far away, Roger rolled his body to dodge the beast’s attack and scaled the fence at his fastest speed, rushing toward the gate not far away.

Weapons.

He urgently needed a new weapon.

Although his combat skills were intact, his current body was far inferior compared to his primary body that had undergone multiple enhancements.

More importantly, his mind was empty, lacking the spirit to drive the Dharma Seal.

He drew a sword from those hanging on the wall, and as he turned around, the beast from outside the castle had barged in with a gust of cold wind.

The air was thick with the stench of blood, and in his peripheral vision, he saw that the Burly Man, who had been the last to enter the castle, had already fallen into a pool of blood.

Underneath the beast was a vast expanse of fresh blood; the sword blow Roger had delivered just moments before had nearly claimed half of the creature’s life.

If this continued, the first to die would certainly be the beast.

The dying beast seemed to realize this as well, its attacks becoming even more frenzied. It completely disregarded the weapon in Roger’s hand, its mouth opening to an exaggerated angle.

No longer adopting the greatly flawed technique of leaping, it charged directly at Roger with its robust body.

Roger naturally wouldn’t confront such a strong beast head-on using his human physique. His footwork was nimble, exuding not just the Lightness of a cat but also the peculiar slither of a venomous serpent.

To be fair, the beast’s physical abilities completely overpowered Roger’s.

But at this moment, although Roger’s body was still within the bounds of a normal human, his consciousness, insight, psychological quality, experience, and skill had far exceeded that of an average human.

More importantly, even in this critical situation, Roger felt no trace of nervousness or fear.

Without any superfluous movements, it seemed each of Roger’s attacks and retreats were calculated with precision.

Accurate and swift.

Roger, who thrived on the edge of danger, felt a surge of exhilaration, and his understanding of swordsmanship deepened further.

In just a few short seconds, the beast had been marked with numerous wounds of varying sizes and depths.

While these injuries differed in size and severity, eventually, as all the wounds scattered across its body came together, accompanied by a viper-like pierce,

Roger’s Steel Sword entered beneath the beast’s throat. The forceful thrust expelled the weapon that had just got caught at the back of its neck.

Thwack!

Blood spurted, converging into a pool on the ground.

The beast’s massive body crashed to the ground.

Roger, still wary, pulled out his weapon again and plunged it deep into the brain through the beast’s glaring eyes.

After ensuring the monster before him was thoroughly dead, he finally relaxed completely.

Although his mind was abuzz with excitement, his body was, after all, that of an ordinary person and had become utterly exhausted during the battle.

Even though there were no apparent injuries on the surface, several muscles were strained within his body, and he felt too weak to muster any strength.

Taking deep breaths to calm his racing heart, when Roger stepped outside, he saw the middle-aged man already lying amidst the flowers.

Around him, those beautiful heads were smiling quietly.

Then, bit by bit, they devoured every last bit of flesh on his body.

“What will these roses turn into when they grow up?” Roger felt a shiver run down his spine.

“A complete human?”

And then be plucked from the ground by the beast, to be presented on a dining table?

Beauty and the Beast.

Pity there was no love between them.

The Beauty was merely food planted in the soil by the Beast.

And what was used to cultivate them was the souls of those unfortunate people who had wandered into this place.

After a brief rest, Roger returned to the second floor, where he casually knocked several paintings off the wall.

The paintings fell to the ground, and the people inside seemed to sense an unknown tremor, their faces revealing a trace of horror.

Assuring that it would not affect the people in the paintings, Roger found an empty room and then activated the Temporary Migration feature.

He opened the Storage Box and stuffed the paintings inside.

Having found another part of Stephen’s remaining soul, the next step was to locate Henrik and Goway and then figure out a way to leave this accursed place.

Here, not only was his strength limited, but even when Roger tried to Summon the Hunter’s Cabin, there was an awkward disconnect.

It seemed that because the body wasn’t his own, he couldn’t even move to other Hunter’s Cabins through this place.

This was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

Wuu wuu.

Eerie noises emerged from all the paintings, and as they converged, the entire castle echoed with the terrifying screams.

Roger was unclear how to relieve the suffering of the souls trapped in the paintings, so he simply ignored these wails and quickly searched the rooms of the castle.

Then, he discovered a red wooden door on a wall at the top level.

Click!

The door opened with no traps, no monsters, and no surging waves of water.

What appeared before Roger was a corridor identical to the one behind him.

“Should I go in or not?”

Roger was caught in hesitation.

But soon, he lost the right to choose.

After opening the red door, the castle behind him seemed to undergo a bizarre change; a thunderous roar came from afar, and the floor beneath began to crack.

Without further hesitation, he stepped through the red door, and the door shut tightly behind him, sealing the destruction of another world behind it.

Still shaken, at the end of the corridor in the distance, yet another huge dark shadow emerged.

“How can there be another one?”

Roger gripped his weapon tightly, but before he could launch an attack, the beast opposite him took a step back.

“Wait a moment, stranger. I mean you no harm, and I think we might be able to talk.”

Roger stared in disbelief at the beast opposite him.

“You can talk?”

“What’s so difficult about that? If I told you that not long ago I was a debonair prince…”

Listening to the familiar intonation, a strange expression crossed Roger’s face.

He stared into the other’s eyes and tentatively asked a question.

“Henrik?”

“Hm?”

The beast’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Roger?!”

“Damn it, how did you end up like this?” both exclaimed in unison.

“Do you know where we are?”

Henrik paced back and forth with some irritation.

“I always feel like my body is somewhat out of my control. Although nothing has happened yet, that sense of crisis is getting stronger.”

He looked at Roger.

“Buddy, be careful. Maybe in the next second, I’ll pounce on you and snap your neck!”

“Tell me about the situation here,” Roger said with a grave expression.

“Also, do you know where Goway is?”
